What Is To Become Of Our World

All around the world we are seeing wars, civil disharmony and demonstrations. It makes me wonder what the future of our world will be in twenty or thirty years time. Will we see a global war and the destruction of mankind?

Russia and the West are at one another’s throats, we have ISIL targeting many countries across the world trying to gain control, and we have street rioting in many countries by young men who are out to cause trouble.

We have world pollution rising at a steady rate, where in some cities the air is so contaminated that the rise of lung disease and cancer is rapidly increasing. We have a grave shortage of water and food in some countries where the land is being turned into a desert. Africa is a good example.

Those of us that live in the West watch the news but don’t think of the consequences because it is far away from us. Our lives go on uninterrupted for we don’t care what happens in other countries.

Migrants from the continent of Africa have swarmed into Europe to escape the drought, hunger and wars that are taking place all across Africa. Most of them are Muslims, and eventually they will cause havoc in Europe as they try to take over and turn the whole continent into a Muslim state. You can think what you will, but this is a major possibility as more and more pour in.

Climate change has caused many countries to suffer, like the USA. When in the past have we seen hurricane after hurricane causing so much destruction? The hurricanes have unleashed massive destruction across the Caribbean and the flooding has caused more than a million people to leave their homes, even in the south of the United States. Thousands of people have been made homeless across the Caribbean islands, and houses have been destroyed right left and centre in the southern states of America. Flooding has consumed a huge portion of the southern United States and this has never happened on such a large scale before, and its all due to us poisoning our atmosphere with traffic and factories.

Climate change has even affected the north and south pole regions where ice is melting at an unbelievable rate. At the north pole the ice cover is a fraction of what it once was, and the south pole has seen huge swathes of ice islands broken off and floated out into the ocean.

Some European companies have said recently that they will be turning their factories into making electric cars, but with the whole of Europe driving these cars what is going to happen to the power grids? There are not enough power stations to satisfy the demand for an all electric car system across Europe. America is very slow in making this change but they will be hit with the same problem.

Civil unrest is spreading across many countries with demonstrations, and it often turns into violence. The people are unhappy with their governments because they do not do enough to house and help the poor. The rich get richer and the poor get no help at all. There are many billionaires in the world today, but they do not release some of their money to help the poor. It’s all down to greed, and that is the one disease that is very common today. Why do they not release money to help the poor and starving in Africa and across the world.

With climate change things will get much worse in the foreseeable future so we have to do something about it. There can be no doubt that if we change our ways it will take very many years for the Earth’s climate to get back to what it was when I was a boy. In the meantime things will get worse year on year until we stop polluting our climate’s atmosphere.

The Worst Year In History

Posted in America, Britain, Children, Conservation, Environment, European Union, Modern World, News, Plastic Rubbish with tags , , , , on 03/09/2017 by floroy1942

2017 has become the worst year in history as we see storms and flooding all across the world. This sort of thing never happened when I was a child, but today we have contaminated the world atmosphere as never before, and this is to blame for the terrible weather we have experienced all across the globe. If we continue, things will get much worse.

170824-noaa-texas-gulf-storm-harvey-njs-1105a_cfe6824a843278e082782d095a130cf9.nbcnews-fp-1200-800The United States has never seen such terrible flooding and wild fires in the south of the country. The flooding in Texas was solely due to the massive hurricane and rainfall that came with it and lasted for a week. This phenomenon was caused solely by the way mankind has contaminated the atmosphere. In other parts of the country wildfires have been destroying forests as never before, all due to the lack of rainfall, again due to mankind.

imagesBut this has not been happening only in the USA, for other countries like Bangladesh has suffered severe flooding that has driven tens of thousands of people out of their homes. We have seen much the same thing in the Far East where people are suffering.

images (1)In Africa a million people are starving due to the weather because they can no longer grow crops. Temperatures have reached more that 50 degrees in some parts of the world, and if you think this is going to stop, then you had better think again.

This phenomenon is due solely to mankind and the way we treat our planet. Atmospheric contamination is reaching levels that the world has not been able to handle, and for sure we humans will suffer in the long term.

images (2)We have become so concentrated on ourselves that we do not care what damage we are doing to our planet. It is time for us to think of the damage we are doing to this Earth. Governments must take action as quickly as possible to stop the pollution of our atmosphere, and that means drastically reducing the the number of vehicles on our roads world-wide, and taking action against factories that pollute the atmosphere.

SeaNet-World-Map-Great-Oceanic-Garbage-Patches-10-Year-PlanSomething must be done to ban plastic on our planet for this is the number one environment polluter. We already see major contamination of our oceans with plastic all across the world. Another thing that should be banned is the poisonous chemicals that farms use to grow crops, for this is eventually polluting our oceans.

I am nearly 75 and I will not be around for many years to come, but all this contamination will affect our children and theirs. Every person on the planet must think of the future, and what we are leaving for our children. It is clear that if we continue as we are they will suffer many hardships and many will die young.

images (4)Sad to say. the governments of the world are not taking any positive measures to reign in climate change, but as the world progresses they will will forced to in years to come. This will be most unpopular with the masses, but it must be done if the human race is to survive on Earth.

How On Earth Could This Happen?

Nations search for 10 missing after US destroyer collision

                                                USS John S. McCain

How on earth could such a collision happen? It seems to me totally inconceivable that two ships could hit one another in this day and age. Twice now we have had American warships involved in a collision with other ships. First we had the USS Fitzgerald off Japan, and now another one, USS John S. McCain off Singapore.

The only thing I can think of is the crews must have been totally incompetent on both ships. They both have sophisticated radar and it should have been easy to avoid a collision. The captain’s of both ships have been held accountable, and so they should for it was sheer incompetence for them to have a collision.

Image: The Arleigh Burke-class Guided-Missile Destroyer USS Fitzgerald, Damaged by Colliding with a Philippine-flagged Merchant Vessel, is seen at the U.S. naval base in Yokosuka

                                                      USS Fitzgerald

They must have seen on radar that the tankers were heading on a collision course and the officer on the bridge should have taken avoiding action. It is inconceivable that in this day and age, with all the technology that the Navy has that they could have been involved in a collision at sea.

The collision cost the lives of sailors who were doing their job and this is a scandal. In my view, the captains of both ships should serve jail time, plus the people on the bridge at the time. To needlessly throw away the lives of sailors through sheer stupidity must be a criminal offence.

What To Do About The Weather

Posted in America, Britain, Canada, China, Conservation, Environment, European Union, Health, Modern World, News with tags , , , , on 14/08/2017 by floroy1942

In the last few years we have seen drastic weather changes all across the world. Flooding, drought, heat waves and huge storms have hit our planet as never before. These have all been caused by us humans, for we have contaminated the atmosphere as never before. This is all due to the massive amount of traffic on our roads, and factories that pump out carbon dioxide all of which poison the atmosphere. Instead of allowing the heat to dissipate in space it is trapped in our atmosphere by the pollution. This causes temperatures around the globe to rise as never before. All life on the planet is suffering because of this.

Image result for climate change

The trouble is the majority of people just don’t care about it, for if they did they would stop buying diesel engined cars for a start and begin reducing the amount of traffic on our roads. Some families have three and four cars, one for father, one for mother, and at least one for the grown-up children. They just do not see that so many cars on our roads are causing this atmospheric problem.

As we look into the future we see that electric cars may eventually take over. But the one problem with this is we do not have enough power stations across the world to carry this extra load. Already we are getting close to overloading our power stations, what with all the gadgets we own. So the introduction of electric cars will cause a total collapse of the power generation system. We have to find another way!

Image result for climate changeThe British government is trying to outlaw all diesel vehicles by 2040, but to me that is far too late. We must start taking action now! Even if we stop contaminating our atmosphere it will take tens of years, maybe hundreds before the world gets back to normal. In the meantime many hundreds of thousands will die from our poisonous atmosphere. Lung cancer is steadily on the rise, and they are people who do not smoke but live in heavily contaminated cities like London, Shanghai and Riyad. You only have to look at photo’s of these cities, and many more, to see the cloud of contamination that covers them.

If we do not start acting now mankind will be almost extinct on this planet, for our world, for the most part, will become unlivable. Would you really want to go about your daily business wearing a gas mask? No, I thought not!

The sad thing is, most people do not think of the future but are content to live their lives as they do, and to hell with the future. But what sort of life are we leaving our children and their children? We all love our children, but we have no thought about the situation we are leaving them. You may not have to go around wearing a gas mask but what if they do?

A quote: “According to experts, by 2100 weather-related disasters could affect two thirds of Europe’s population per year, with yearly deaths caused by extreme weather predicted to soar 50 times from 3,000 between 1981 and 2010 to 152,000 between 2071 and 2100.” Currently people are living well into their eighties but that figure will drop like a stone in the years to come, and all because of the way we are polluting our atmosphere.

Image result for climate change

You may well read this and brush it off as nonsense because it doesn’t affect you, but there is no getting away from the problems we will face in the near future. Unless every single one of us starts to make changes in the way we live, we will see in years to come major problems for mankind. But it won’t affect us, it will affect your children and theirs.

A quote: Lead scientist Dr Giovanni Forzieri, from the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre in Italy, said: “Climate change is one of the biggest global threats to human health of the 21st century, and its peril to society will be increasingly connected to weather-driven hazards. Unless global warming is curbed as a matter of urgency and appropriate measures are taken, about 350 million Europeans could be exposed to harmful climate extremes on an annual basis by the end of the century.”

Image result for climate changeIt is said by scientists that Spain will become a desert because of its lack of rain which is getting worse by the year. It is not the only country that will see such a future, but it could also apply to all Mediterranean countries too. Huge swathes of Africa will no longer be livable as the temperatures increase and the Sahara Desert will take over much of the continent. We are not only talking about Africa and Europe, but America will see much the same in its middle regions.

No matter how much warning we get from scientists the people brush it off as nonsense and that is dangerous. We have to do something to stop this climate change, and that means all of us!

Heading For Annihilation

Water Stress Graphic Across The World

According to the scientific data, in 1975 we reached the the maximum capacity of the Earth’s renewal of the planet’s resources, now in 2017 we are using 175 times the Earth’s replacement possibilities. It may seem strange, but Australia is using 5.2 times the Earth’s ecological footprint and next is the USA with 5 times the ecological footprint. Down at the bottom of the scale is India with o.6. In total the world is using 1.7 times the amount of resources on Earth, and our planet cannot replace it.

It is no surprise that the resources are getting used up quickly for we have been thinking only of ourselves and not the planet we live on. We are also contaminating the atmosphere at an ever increasing rate year on year.

If this continues mankind will cease to exist on this planet of ours. Through overfishing, over harvesting forests, and emitting more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere than forests can replace, humans are demanding more from the earth than it can produce, and this will lead to catastrophe.

Another Forest Fire Due To High Temperatures

Our trees across the world provide us with the much needed oxygen, but they are being destroyed by fire because of the dry weather in some countries, and cut down in others at a devastating rate and soon it will hit all of us. The oceans of the world also provide us with oxygen but they are being contaminated as never before.

Natural resources are being used up far quicker than they can be replaced and this too will lead us to catastrophe. “Our planet is finite, but human possibilities are not. Living within the means of one planet is technologically possible, financially beneficial, and our only chance for a prosperous future,” said Mathis Wackernagel, CEO of Global Footprint Network and co-creator of the Ecological Footprint. I fully agree with what he says, for unless we reign in our appetite for more and more we will cease to exist on this planet. When the amount of water, soil, and clean air that our planet can regenerate is spent before the year is up we can expect big problems in the future.

On today’s news it is said that large parts of the Earth, like central Africa, will be uninhabitable by 2040. This is all due to the steady rise in temperatures and the impossibility of growing food. This could also be true of the United States, for it is undergoing huge drought in central areas.

Already we have millions dying of thirst and hunger in Africa, and if we continue to use up the planet’s resources before they can be replenished we will all be in trouble. Most westerners think nothing of this catastrophe, for we have everything we need on hand, but consider other parts of the world where there is drought, famine and a great lack of water and the people that have to put up with this hardship.

On top of this we are using up all the world’s natural resources faster than they can be replaced. Eventually, at some time in the future we will run out of oil and then what will happen. Back to the stone age I guess. Farmers are also grossly contaminating the soil that grow crops in order to make more money. What will happen when the ground is so contaminated that we can no longer grow food? Already our food is contaminated with all sorts of pesticide which in my view is leading to a lot of the illnesses we see in the west.

Governments the world over must make rapid changes to the way we live, or mankind will cease to exist on this planet. Already some European governments are going to ban the sale of all diesel cars by 2040, why not earlier. By then we will be in dire straits as the temperatures continue to rise. Here in Spain we are undergoing a heat wave such as we have never seen before. Temperatures are rising in some parts of the country to over 40 degrees and this is unheard of in the past. With the man-made pollution of the atmosphere these temperatures are certain to rise year on year, and not only in Spain.

It is imperative that we do something to lower the pollution across the globe by rapidly reducing the number of cars on the road and getting rid of all diesel vehicles. This cannot wait twenty odd years, we must start doing it now.

It makes me very sad to witness the madness of human beings on this planet for very few people, especially in the west, don’t even think about the way the world is going and just shrug it off as it’s not their concern. Meanwhile millions are dying all across Africa but who cares anyway, that is their problem.

What people don’t realize is that eventually it will spread all around the world and then what will we do?

Violence Rules

The world has changed a lot since I was a boy, and not for the better. Daily we see reports on the TV of clashes between the people and governments, and the situation is not getting any better. All across the world countries have major problems with their people, like currently Venezuela, Israel and the al Aksa Mosque. But it goes much further, with many countries in the Far East, Africa and of course the Middle East under threat from Islamic State.

Apart from countries like Venezuela and Israel many of the conflicts are caused by the Arab uprising in the name of Islamic State, who according to them, want to rule the world and change it into a Muslim world. This of course ‘is a pipe dream’ and will never happen. Unrest in many parts of the world have been going on for ten years or more, and currently we see no end to it.

Islamic State has caused havoc in many parts of the world and to my mind the United Nations should be doing something to eradicate this problem, but they just sit on their fat asses. This is one of the biggest crisis to hit the world since World War 2  and they do nothing.

When I was a young lad the world was at peace following the Second World War, and when the Korean War was over we went back to peace. There were of course tensions between Russia and the United States but it did not cause a war. Now things are different, we have fighting across the world all aimed at Islamic State who are trying the make the world Muslim.

Tensions between Russia and the United States are hotting up and who knows where this will end. I believe it is time for the two sides to get together, and ensure that the two nations can live in peace. If it continues to escalate we could end up with war between the two nations, and if they go nuclear that could be the end mankind on Earth.

All that aside, the biggest threat to world peace is the Muslim problem of Islamic State. Not only do we have war in Syria, but across the world as these people seek to control power at any cost. They have infiltrated many countries including India, Pakistan and the Far East, and have spread their influence among the Muslim population and turned them into combatants in the name of Allah.

Sad to say, but the Muslims are easily influenced by people like Islamic State, and in particular by the Muslim clerics who back the radicals. We have heard about may clerics who have been preaching ‘Jihad’ to the faithful in Mosques all across the world. Even in Britain there have been many Muslim clerics who preach ‘Jihad’ to their flock. Remember Abu Qatada and Abu Hamsa? Even today, after the deportation of these two there are still radical clerics like Anjem Choudrey, and many more in the U.K.

I have to ask myself, where will it all all end? Are we all going to be subject to Islamic State if they are not beaten, or are we to face a nuclear holocaust caused by Russia and the United States?

Currently we live in a precarious world and who knows how it will all end. Mind you, we could still face annihilation due to the continuous pollution of our atmosphere!

A Catastrophe Is On The Way

Posted in America, Britain, Environment, Government, Health, Modern World, News, Oceans, Plastic Rubbish, Spain with tags , , , , on 18/07/2017 by floroy1942

I read with surprise today that Brazil is to open up 860,000 acres of the Amazon tropical rain forest for logging, farming and mining. If this continues the human race will be in big trouble for we rely on trees to give our atmosphere oxygen. They soak up the carbon dioxide (CO2) in our atmosphere and convert it to oxygen among other things.

“Urban forests help to improve our air quality. Heat from the earth is trapped in the atmosphere due to high levels of carbon dioxide (CO2) and other heat-trapping gases that prohibit it from releasing the heat into space. This creates a phenomenon known today as the “greenhouse effect.” Therefore, trees help by removing CO2 from the atmosphere during photosynthesis to form carbohydrates that are used in plant structure/function and return oxygen back into the atmosphere as a byproduct. Roughly half of the greenhouse effect is caused by CO2. Therefore, trees act as carbon sinks, alleviating the greenhouse effect.”

I guess it is no surprise that profit comes before the continuance of mankind on this planet. Already the Amazon rainforest has been cut by nearly a third thanks to illegal logging, cattle farming and agriculture, and it seems it will get worse. So few people seem to realize that we rely on trees to provide us with a breathable atmosphere.

In the last fifty years forests across the world have been decimated to produce more agricultural land, and it would seem that it is not over yet. Why do governments not understand that we need trees to provide us with breathable air? If this keeps up and huge forests such as the Amazon disappear and we will have no oxygen to keep us alive.

The problem is we are so ignorant of the basic facts of life that we only think of money and profit. This will surely lead us to the destruction of our planet and the end of human life on Earth.

When I was young we had woods and forests all across Britain, but now most of them have disappeared as farmers cut down the trees just to get a little more land on which to plant crops. It’s the same all over the world, with huge forests disappearing at a steady rate. Many of the forests across the world have been decimated to make way for agriculture.

It is time the human race woke up to the fact that without trees life will end on this planet of ours.

Already this year we have had temperatures so high and that has never happened before. Here in Spain we have had temperatures in the high forties. In the Middle East temperatures are reaching close to fifty degrees, again, never seen before. You can bet your life that temperatures will continue to rise year on year and it is all the fault of mankind.

Drought areas in America and other countries make it impossible to grow crops to feed us. Flooding in many parts of the world have caused chaos with people losing their lives and homes being destroyed. This cannot go on.

Say what you will, but we humans are to blame for this sorry mess, and if we continue to ignore the warnings it will be too late to correct the current problems.

Most of the contamination in our atmosphere comes from the traffic on our roads which are poisoning the atmosphere. It is time for world-wide governments to greatly reduce the number of cars on the roads and to make them cleaner. If they do not do this it could be the end of mankind on this planet.

Another great contributor to oxygen is the oceans, and we have successfully contaminated them with plastic. Massive areas of the world seas have seen the rise of plastic around the world and this is another contamination that is slowly destroying our world.

If mankind is to continue its existence on the planet we have to do something to clean up our world. Otherwise, in maybe a hundred years humans will cease to exist.

Roy.
