The World In Crisis

It has often been said in the past that mankind will end up destroying itself. A bold statement if ever there was one. But with the current crisis with North Korea anything is possible. Kim Jong-Un has said he will fire missiles at the island of Guam in the coming three weeks or so, and if they are nuclear tipped the world will go to war.

President Trump’s statement that he will attack North Korea if that happens could be the prelude to a world nuclear war, for China has already said that if America unleashes nuclear weapons at North Korea they will retaliate. Who knows which side Russia will back if that happens.

Map: Guam in relation to North Korea

Guam has been an American military base since 1898 when they captured it from the Spanish during the Spanish-American war. Since then it has been the only base for Americans in the Far East. Guam is very important for the Americans and has become known as the ‘Tip of the Spear’ for the American armed forces in the Far East.  The remote 210-square mile US territory, about 4,000 miles west of Hawaii in the western Pacific Ocean, is a vital US military outpost and host to strategic bombers and at least 6,000 US service members. It is just 2,200 miles southeast of North Korea and is vulnerable to North Korea attack.

It is rumoured that the North Korea is developing missiles to reach the mainland of America and they are close to achieving this. If this happens we could see all-out war between America and North Korea. This could possibly mean that China jumps on the ‘band-wagon’ against America.

Many American politicians are of the opinion that this will never happen, but with someone like Kim Jong-Un it is dangerous to ignore this. He has total control over his country and has a huge army that could invade South Korea. If this happens we could possibly see Trump unleash nuclear weapons on the north.

There can be little doubt that if this happens, radioactivity will spread around the world and we may well see the end of mankind on this planet.

Violence Rules

The world has changed a lot since I was a boy, and not for the better. Daily we see reports on the TV of clashes between the people and governments, and the situation is not getting any better. All across the world countries have major problems with their people, like currently Venezuela, Israel and the al Aksa Mosque. But it goes much further, with many countries in the Far East, Africa and of course the Middle East under threat from Islamic State.

Apart from countries like Venezuela and Israel many of the conflicts are caused by the Arab uprising in the name of Islamic State, who according to them, want to rule the world and change it into a Muslim world. This of course ‘is a pipe dream’ and will never happen. Unrest in many parts of the world have been going on for ten years or more, and currently we see no end to it.

Islamic State has caused havoc in many parts of the world and to my mind the United Nations should be doing something to eradicate this problem, but they just sit on their fat asses. This is one of the biggest crisis to hit the world since World War 2  and they do nothing.

When I was a young lad the world was at peace following the Second World War, and when the Korean War was over we went back to peace. There were of course tensions between Russia and the United States but it did not cause a war. Now things are different, we have fighting across the world all aimed at Islamic State who are trying the make the world Muslim.

Tensions between Russia and the United States are hotting up and who knows where this will end. I believe it is time for the two sides to get together, and ensure that the two nations can live in peace. If it continues to escalate we could end up with war between the two nations, and if they go nuclear that could be the end mankind on Earth.

All that aside, the biggest threat to world peace is the Muslim problem of Islamic State. Not only do we have war in Syria, but across the world as these people seek to control power at any cost. They have infiltrated many countries including India, Pakistan and the Far East, and have spread their influence among the Muslim population and turned them into combatants in the name of Allah.

Sad to say, but the Muslims are easily influenced by people like Islamic State, and in particular by the Muslim clerics who back the radicals. We have heard about may clerics who have been preaching ‘Jihad’ to the faithful in Mosques all across the world. Even in Britain there have been many Muslim clerics who preach ‘Jihad’ to their flock. Remember Abu Qatada and Abu Hamsa? Even today, after the deportation of these two there are still radical clerics like Anjem Choudrey, and many more in the U.K.

I have to ask myself, where will it all all end? Are we all going to be subject to Islamic State if they are not beaten, or are we to face a nuclear holocaust caused by Russia and the United States?

Currently we live in a precarious world and who knows how it will all end. Mind you, we could still face annihilation due to the continuous pollution of our atmosphere!

Things Are Hotting Up!

Posted in America, Britain, Canada, England, European Union, Islamic State, News, Politics, Russia, United Nations with tags , , , , on 12/03/2017 by floroy1942

Its looks to me like things are getting nastier in this world as we now have a new war of words between Turkey and the Netherlands. The country banned entry to a Turkish diplomat who wished to address the large Turkish community in the country.

Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu Refused Entry To Holland

This has led to great anger in the Turkish government and also among the Turkish residents in The Netherlands. This is yet another spat between countries that can be added to those already around the world.

There can be no doubt that we are in desperate times, what with the number of problems this world is facing at this time. It makes you wonder how all this will end.

Disagreement Over Syria.

There are major disagreements about how to handle the ISIS problems in Iraq, and the constant threat of terrorists attacks in Europe. Disagreements between Russia and the USA over how to handle the Syrian crisis are still there, and no major efforts have been made to solve this problem.

President Trump has sparked anger with his ban on immigrants from Muslim Countries, plus the removal today of the President of South Korea Park Geun-hye. North Korea is continuing with its nuclear and missile tests which is also raising concern among many nations.

Demonstration

In many countries across the world there is civil unrest aimed at governments and government decisions on various subjects, so it makes you wonder what the future holds. There has never been such turmoil among nations since the Second World War. It makes me wonder where the world is headed, for we face the possibility of major conflicts breaking out in the near future.

The United Nations is keeping very quiet on all these subjects, and the world has not heard a word from them when they should be doing all they can to solve these problems. After all, that is why the UN was formed, to be an open forum for nations to discuss and solve political crisis in the world.

It is certainly time for the UN to step forward and start negotiations with all these countries to try and solve their differences, but unfortunately the UN is a shadow of its former self and has become almost useless.

António Guterres – Maybe He Can Make A Difference

What has it done about the problems in Iraq with ISIS – nothing! In my view it should have got together an International Force and gone to that country and wiped out these people, the same with Nigeria and the many other countries these people infest. It should also have taken positive steps to stop the nuclear threat from North Korea and gone into Ukraine to stop the troubles there. I am sorry to say that the UN has forgotten what its mandate is, i.e. world peace!

Vetoes In The UN.

Agreement can only be reached via the United Nations where countries come together and talk. Talks should be constructive, and each country must be willing to negotiate and surrender to the will of the majority. The veto held by Russia, the United States, China, France and Great Britain must be scrapped so that we can make decisions based on a majority. It does no good when all the countries approve of a decision but it can be scrapped by a single country.  Most times the veto is used because that country is looking out for its own interests.

The general public in the West hear of all this trouble on the news daily, but do not seem interested enough to protest that governments do something about it. Their main concern is that none of this interrupts their own lives. It is a sad indication of our times that people only think of themselves.

The World’s Problems On The News – Forgotten Within Five Minutes

For example, they watch the TV news and hear of the twenty million starving people in Africa, but five minutes later they have forgotten all about it as they concentrate on their own lives. We in the West are so lucky that we do not have to face such problems, but please, spare a thought for those poor people!

A Starving Child

Western governments should be doing all they can to solve crisis such as this by sending money and food to these places and ensuring a fair distribution of it. Unfortunately, with the amount of corruption in the world today, much of this assistance would not reach those in desperate need. If God were to come down and remove all the corrupt people in the world with a wave of his hand most of humanity would disappear.

There can be little doubt that the world is heading for a tumultuous period in its history yet again, and we can only hope that someone takes action to solve all this crisis.

We Are Poisoning Ourselves!

Posted in America, Britain, Canada, Conservation, Environment, European Union, Government Spending, News, Russia, Traffic with tags , , , , on 16/02/2017 by floroy1942

What is the world coming to? Disaster, that’s what! New information released by Eco Experts shows a map that tracks world atmospheric pollution by country, and the results will surprise you. More than half the world’s countries are producing a toxic atmosphere caused by industry and vehicles way above what the world can handle.

The Most Toxic Countries In The World

The Most Toxic Countries In The World

As you can see, the most toxic are the oil nations who provide the world with this precious commodity. Next in line is Russia and Canada closely followed by the United States.

It has been known for some time that the atmosphere in Chinese cities are among the most toxic in the world, but there are other countries like Doha in Qatar.

Doha In Qata

Doha In Qatar

To live in places like Shanghai or Qatar must be a very unpleasant experience and your life expectancy must be very short. Already we have seen Chinese people walking the streets wearing masks to try and prevent the pollution from getting into their lungs.

So what does this say for the world as a whole? It means that in effect we are poisoning our atmosphere to the extent that, in maybe twenty or thirty years, the air we breath will so toxic that life expectancy will be very short. The sad thing is that governments the whole world over are not prepared to solve this crisis for humanity.

A group of doctors in London have put forward a request for all diesel cars to be banned from the road because they are the worst polluters of all. It’s a good suggestion, but nothing will ever come of it, for it will be too expensive and the public will never accept it.

American Traffic Jam

American Traffic Jam

It is well-known that many families have three and four cars in America which greatly increases the number of cars on the roads. It’s also one of the reasons why we see major traffic jams on American roads into and out of cities. With more than a billion cars and trucks on the world’s roads it is easy to see where the pollution of our atmosphere comes from.

There can be little doubt that if we continue as we are, the atmosphere will become so polluted that human life will cease to exist on this planet. We are headed for an Armageddon of our own making, and to stop it, governments must come together to solve the problem.

What Will Trump’s Legacy Be?

Posted in America, Britain, European Union, Human Rights, Immigrants, Islamic State, News, People's Rights, President, Russia with tags , , , , on 31/01/2017 by floroy1942

President Trump has upset a lot of countries in his first two weeks in office, and we have yet to see how many more are in line. Judging by the number and size of demonstrations against him it seems he is currently the most hated president of all time in the States.

It’s true that he has made some unpopular decisions, like the Muslim immigrant ban and his determination to build a wall between Mexico and the United States and make Mexico pay for it. The burning question is, what else does he have up his sleeve. He is without doubt the most radical president the U.S. has ever had.

I would not be surprised if he ends up being assassinated if he continues on his current path, for there has never been such an unpopular president in all of America’s history. Despite all the millions of people around the world who are demonstrating against his decisions, he still holds fast on the presidential orders he has made.

What does this say for the future of the United States and his legacy? Well, if he carries on with these unpopular decisions he may not last four years and could end up being impeached by Congress.

In contrast, the American people are demonstrating in their millions against the decisions he has made, especially his immigration ban which has affected all Muslims living, or wanting to settle in the United States. Currently there are about 3.3 million Muslims living in the USA and many who wish to move there. Trump’s plan has stopped this and the numbers of those refused entry are growing day by day.

With the number of militants increasing daily, and the rising number of attacks in European countries, it would seem like a plausible idea to stop them entering, but they are a tiny fraction of those who wish to enter. The trouble is, how do you distinguish these radicals from innocent people.

Currently, all Muslims from Iraq, Syria, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen are banned from entering the USA, which is due to the number of radicals that are fighting in these countries. But Trump’s new law goes further than this by banning all Muslims from entering the USA. There can be little doubt that this law cannot be sustained, for many are returning from abroad and live in America with families waiting for their return. How this turmoil will end is anyone’s guess, but for now it is making Trump the most hated leader in the world.

With the tensions between China and the U.S. over the South China Sea, and with the Russians, it is clear we are living in dangerous times, with the threat of nuclear war increasing as is evidenced by the world coming half a minute closer to annihilation according to the scientists. It would seem that once again the world is entering a period of major instability and someone like Trump is not helping to ease the tension.

I sincerely hope that this time of turmoil will pass and he calms down. He needs to improve international relations with the rest of the world and make efforts to ensure the people can live in hope once again. He needs to repair relations with foreign countries he has upset and move forward to making the world a place of peace once more. Given time, he may turn out to be a good president for the USA if he curbs his radical decisions. We have no choice but to wait and see how things turn out.

The Menace Of Tax Havens

Posted in America, Britain, European Union, Germany, Modern World, News, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Theft, USA with tags , , , , on 17/11/2016 by floroy1942

I read an article on Yahoo today that says all tax havens should be quarantined. That I certainly agree with! While you and I try as best we can to make enough money to live on, the rich are hiding away their ill-gotten gains in tax havens so they don’t have to pay tax. This has an astounding affect on all of us.

The gist of the article says that all tax havens should be cut off from the global financial system. “They call for making it illegal for anyone in cooperative countries to have an account in a non-cooperative jurisdiction, or for someone in a cooperating country to be a shareholder in a corporation in a non-cooperative one.”

This means that it would be illegal for people to stow away money in a country or system that is not open to the world of finance. All these areas must be open to outside scrutiny and in effect, global auditors must be able to scrutinize all bank accounts wherever they are.

This idea of hiding away trillions of dollars from the tax people in any country in the world is a scandal, for if these politicians and businessmen paid the taxes that were due, most of the world’s monetary problems would be solved.

These billions of dollars could be used to aid the poorer countries of the world, feed those dying of hunger, and solve the sickness that is so prevalent in many countries in the world. Without a doubt, it could be used to solve the major debt problems across the world.

The sad thing is, these ultra-rich people just let it lie there in these accounts and never think of doing some good with their money. There are exceptions of course like Bill Gates and Warren Buffet who use their billions to do good in the world, its just a pity that all the ultra-rich do not think the same. Most of these people have more money than they could spend in three lifetimes, but they prefer to hide it away and do nothing with it. The phrase “It’s all mine, mine, mine!” comes to mind. It’s more about bucking the system and being able to brag about the fact that they are billionaire’s.

I have for a long time advocated that all these multi-billionaires should pay taxes on their often ill-gotten gains and do some good with it, but will it ever happen? There is a slim hope now that all these people will be caught with their ill-gotten gains if this plan goes ahead. Let’s hope it does.

So Trump Has Won – What Next?

Posted in America, Britain, Elections, England, European Union, Immigration, Islamic State, News, President, Russia with tags , , , , on 10/11/2016 by floroy1942

Against all the predictions Donald Trump has won the American election for President. So what now? There seems to be great unrest in America at the result, for many are not waiting to see what the man can do for America and demonstrate on the streets against him. Will he be a good President and solve many international and domestic problems or not. That is the question on many people’s lips at the moment.

Top of the agenda will be solving the tensions with Russia, but Putin has already said he is hopeful of  relieving the tensions that currently exist with Trump when he becomes President. That at least is a step in the right direction.

It will be interesting to see what input he has with regard to the ongoing war in the Middle East. Will he be able to solve the problem of ISIS by working with other countries? We will have to wait and see.

Many countries are a little fearful of what he will do on international relations with various countries. He is not a politician but a business man, so there may not be a softly softly approach to his dealings with many countries. His idea of building a wall along the border with Mexico is just one example.

On the domestic side many are fearful of what he will do to solve the problems currently evident in the USA. Crime must surely be top of the list as it steadily increases. Sad to say, but a lot of it is due to the blacks and Mexican immigrants and it remains to be seen how he will deal with this problem. The economy is also something that he needs to look at, but being a business man he may be able to help get it back on its feet again.

Without doubt the position of President of the United States is a powerful post and whoever holds it can do a lot of good in the world. On the other hand it can bring the world into chaos. We will just have to wait and see how Trump handles it. We can only hope he does the right thing.
