Is The Whole World Going Mad!

We see all over the world fighting going on and it will not stop. When I was young the world was at peace, except for the Russians and they did not do anything except make threats. The world was a peace in the sixties, but today the world has moved on and war is everywhere. In the Middle East and the Far East war is everywhere. There are demonstrations all across the globe and it will never end unless the governments does something about it.

It is up to the United Nations to do something about it and stop the wars that are created havoc across the world, but they sit on their fat backsides and do nothing except complain about the wars that going on. They should gather together an army and stop these wars. In 1960 they took action against North Korea and put a stop to it so the world could live in peace once again. But they do nothing about the wars in Syria and other places except complain about it. They should gather an army and stop these many wars that are going around across the globe and finish it once and for all.

Demonstrations are going on in South America and other countries, and this has to stop. Let the governments listen to the people and make changes so that everyone can live in peace. But they do not listen to people and this leads to demonstrations across the whole the world. Even in Europe there are demonstrations in most countries, although Europe is living in peace. The governments should listen to the people and make changes.

The world is getting darker and the people are rebellious about the governments who have no mind about the people. The governments continue to make their own rules without disregard for the people. They are the governments which rule the countries and it a sorry state of affairs that they do not care for the people.

I can see that the whole world will be in turmoil in few years time, and the governments will be wiped out as the people and will turn to anarchy. I am 74 years old and I do not wish to see anarchy in my lifetime.

North And South Korea

Iran With Nuclear Capability?

Will It Come To This! We Hope Not!

After many years of conflict between North and South Korea we have reached an understanding between the two countries. They are now in talks to end the conflict, and it seems it is going well. Kim Jong-Un and his counterpart Moon Jae-In are talking about ending the rivalry between them. It is a momentous occasion that the two countries are talking.

The people in North Korea are ignorant  of the fact that these talks are taking place, but in South Korea it is being greeted with joy, as is the rest of the world. Trump has expressed his desire to talk with the North Korean leader sometime later this year, and we must wait and see how this develops.

Currently the talks between Moon Jae-In and Kim Jong-Un are going very well and we, hopefully, we will see the end of

tensions between the two countries. Kim Jong-Un has promised he will do away with all the nuclear weapons he has developed, and we must wait and see if this comes true.

Later this year Trump will have a meeting with Kim Jong-Un, and it is hoped this all goes well. For North Korea to get rid of its nuclear weapons will a milestone for the world, for Kim Jong-Un has already threatened America with a nuclear attack, and he has missiles that will reach the United States.

If this does not go well we could see a war between North Korea and the USA, and North Korea would be flattened. This will have a major effect on the rest of the world for the radioactivity will spread across the whole globe. This will have a devastating effect on peoples lives, and we may see the end of humanity on this planet due the spreading of the radioactivity.

Let us all hope that the meetings between South Korea, the USA and North Korea all go well.

Is Cost Effective Government Possible?

Posted in Britain, England, Europe, Germany, Insanity, Mobile Phone, Modern World, MP's, Parliament, Police, President, UK, USA with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on 12/10/2010 by floroy1942

The old adage: “If you want to make money – get a Government contract” is as true today as it ever was. The bigger the country, and thereby the government, the easier it is to charge extortionate fees for the provision of services.

Sir Philip Green

The sheer depth of government miss-spending has been revealed in Britain today by a report issued on an ‘in-house’ investigation by a well known High Street name, specifically Sir Philip Green, owner of the ‘Top Shop’ chain of stores. He was commissioned by David Cameron, the UK Prime Minster, to look into government spending with a view to cutting expenditure. What he uncovered defies description!

He stated quite frankly, that if he operated his business in the same way, he would be bankrupt within in days.

Government Waste?

In Sir Philips view, literally billions of the huge £191 billion budget could be saved by government departments with better co-ordination in the procurement of services. As an example, he estimates that a massive £600 to £700 million could be saved on the annual British Telecom budget of £2 billion. Renegotiating contracts with companies providing mobile phone services, and even office supplies and coffee could save up to 40% of the annual budget.

Damn! There Goes Another £1.45

The differences between departments in the costs being forked out for mundane things such as a box of copy paper (from £8 to £73), printer cartridges (from £86 to £396) and a cup of coffee (90p to £1.45) are to say the least, quite staggering. Who in their right minds would pay £396 for a printer cartridge? Talk about being ripped off!

Never Heard of Video Conferencing?

Sir Philip also criticised the 400,000 nights a year spent by M.P’s in hotels in London in order to attend meetings at a cost of £30 million. In the modern age he found it incomprehensible that so much money could be spent on people who must attend meetings personally. Quite rightly he puts the question: “Have these people never heard of video conferencing?”

M.P’s transport costs such as taxis and hire cars is a huge £551 millions a year. Someone from an anonymous car hire firm wrote in to say her company were being paid by the government £156.28 a week for a small car, which a normal customer would get for £99!

At the Heart of it All

It’s amazing to think that no-one in the financial side of government, i.e., The Treasury, has checked up on this kind of thing for so many years. It’s the same old story of there being no accountability within government circles! Government laptops, so often in the news for being left behind on buses, in taxis and on tube trains by government officials in sensitive jobs, cost up to £2000, while a little research on the internet revealed identical models for just £800.

Sir Philip also questioned the advisability of moving a government agency to new offices in the Midlands with a rent of £1.2 million a year on a 20 year contract, fixed for 15 years, when shortly after the department was abolished leaving a commitment of £18 million. Mismanagement of real estate by government departments costs the taxpayer £25 billion a year but could be drastically reduced.

The final report due out on Monday should make very interesting reading for Governments world-wide, especially in the rest of Europe and the United States. With luck, it will begin a wave of in-house cleaning by many governments, but I doubt it.

The Eurofighter - Costly, But Worth It

When government contracts are awarded for new military hardware, buildings or transport links etc., we all know that the project is going to cost e.g., £25 billion, but when the final accounting is done the end figure can be five times that or more. Good examples are the Eurofighter from BA Systems and the Channel Tunnel, both of which went way over budget.

Boring the Eurotunnel

Such major contracts are first put out for tender and presumably the lowest bidder wins. In my opinion, over the last three or four decades many companies have intentionally put in ridiculously low bids, one for which they know they cannot complete the task, just to get the contract. Once the contract is signed, they are fully aware the price can be jacked up once they have started work.

This is no way to run a business, and running the government services for any country is just that, a business on a larger scale.

The Secret - Make it Stick!

Governments must realise that if a supplier quotes a certain price for work to be carried out, the company must be held responsible for ensuring the end product for the quoted price. Companies dealing with government departments, be it the Ministry of Defence, Transport or whatever, must be made to put in realistic bids for services to be provided. There is nothing wrong in allowing perhaps a 3-5% cost over-run in today’s turbulent markets, but it should be no more than that.

The problems highlighted by Sir Philip Green only go to emphasis that much tighter control is necessary on government spending, for in the long run, it always comes from the pockets of the general public in the form of taxes.

This is 'In-house'

The present coalition government is currently looking for ways to reduce the annual budget by many billions of pounds with cuts to defence and the police force high on the gender. It would seem wise for them to first look in-house before taking such drastic measures, and the assistance of men like Sir Philip would be invaluable in such an exercise. By this I mean top flight business men with a known track record like Sir Philip who pulled BHS back from the brink into a good solid company, not some fly-by-night stock exchange wannabe.

Obama, Zarkosy and Merkel - the Big Three

Britain is by no means the only country afflicted with such woes. I am sure the economies of all the major nations could see a dramatic upswing if the leaders, like Angela Merkel, Presidents Barack Obama and Nicholas Sarkozy were to employ businessmen in strategic monetary positions within the government as fiscal advisors.

Another Good Place to Start?

Without a doubt, we will not see an end to the worlds economic woes when duly elected governments and leaders allow such wastage at the top, while telling the public it is time to ‘tighten belts’.

I firmly believe in the old saying, which should apply especially to governments: ‘If you must lead, lead by example!’

Muslim Power!

Muslim Power is on the march again as a Dutch MP is to go on trial next week for “insulting Muslims”.

Geert Wilders – Dutch Politician

Geert Wilders, Leader of the Freedom Party, who has just entered into an agreement with the Liberal Party and Christian Democratic Alliance to form the first minority government in the Netherlands since WW2, is to stand trial “for inciting hatred, discrimination, and insulting Muslims”. According to sources, if found guilty, he could be sentenced to two years in prison or a €19,000 fine.

The fact that he is now a crucial member of the minority government makes it all the more ridiculous.

Among the measures to be introduced by this parliament (due no doubt to Wilder’s Freedom Party) is the banning of full-face coverings worn by Muslim women (i.e. the Burqa) in all public places in the Netherlands. This is much the same as France has already done.

Wilders – A Marked Man

Wilders has been consistently in the news because of his efforts in trying to wake up the Dutch people to the Islamization of their country, as is all too evident in Great Britain.

It would seem the fear of insulting Muslims has now over-ruled our, until now, sacred ideal of free speech at least in the Netherlands. The danger is that such an action will set a precedent that could spread to other countries, in which case, free speech will eventually be stifled and wither on the vine.

Geert Wilders is most famous for his short video called ‘Fitna’ which swept the western world after its release in March of 2008. In it he quoted verses from the Qur’an (Arabic spelling) to highlight the hatred among Muslims for non-Muslims, and related these facts to the 9/11 atrocities in New York.

The Qu’ran

I have had dialogue with many Muslims on the subject, and all told me the lines are quoted ‘out of context’. You will need to read the Qu’ran for yourselves to decide what you believe in.

Burning Church

Muslims burn bibles, and even churches (Ref: Far Eastern Muslim States like Indonesia etc) and not a word of protest is uttered by christian societies, the church or governments. Anyone found to be practising the christian faith in countries like Saudi Arabia and Iran are immediately condemned to death, but not a voice is raised by these same governments and organisations.

We make more fuss over a Muslim woman accused of adultery and murder sentenced to death by stoning than we do about ‘insults’ to our religion.

At times it must seem that everything we do is an insult to Muslims, in fact listening to the rhetoric that comes from the mouths of some Muslim clerics you could believe our very existence as non-Muslims is an insult to Islam.

Iraq Suicide Bomb

The Qu’ran strictly forbids the killing of Muslims by other Muslims, but that doesn’t seem to have held back the insurgents who detonate explosives strapped to their bodies in crowded market places in Iraq and Afghanistan where the majority of victims are fellow Muslims.

Proposed Muslim Centre for Ground Zero

Geert Wilders has done his best to highlight the creeping Islamisation of western countries like Holland and Britain where Muslims have more rights than the ethnic population. This slow cancer is also being seen in America where Muslims even have the effrontery to want to build a mosque within a stones throw of ‘Ground Zero’ (See Blog entry: Pig Power and Ground Zero 7/9/10), scene of the biggest atrocity so far this century.

The Rights of ethnic Europeans and Americans are being trampled underfoot because no politician has the guts to stand up and say what an ever increasing portion of the public is thinking. In which case I say, thank God for Geert Wilders. He at least is man enough to say what he thinks.

It is a scandal that he should be pilloried by his own country’s legal system and the gutless politicians who run the country. One can only hope he brings down the government if found guilty.

Why American Troops Are Losing the Afghan War

Posted in Afghanistan, Al Quada, Arab, Insanity, Insurgents, Islamic Revolution, Justice, Modern World, Muslim, Prison, Religion, Taliban, Terrorism, Terrorists, Torture, UK, USA with tags , , , , , , , , , , on 21/09/2010 by floroy1942

Hearts and Minds - The Way to Victory

While the greater majority of American troops in Afghanistan do their duty with diligence, and honour their responsibility to the local population, their dedication has once again been nullified by a rogue element within the army.

American Soldiers in Afghanistan

A report out this week accuses soldiers of the 5th Stryker Combat Brigade of the 2nd Infantry Division of forming a ‘kill’ team dedicated to murdering innocent Afghan civilians for sport! This allegation, hard though it may be to swallow, appears true as an investigation is under way.

Many newspapers are now citing official sources, stating that the killings began last winter, and several Afghans were shot during the ensuing months for the pure amusement of the group.

Hashish

As if that was not enough, the soldiers in question have been accused of taking photographs of themselves with their victims, and even cutting off fingers as trophies. Along with these killers, more soldiers have been arrested for using hashish which is prevalent in Afghanistan.

It has been a hard enough struggle for the coalition forces to win over the minds of the Afghan people, and to date that aim is still a long way from achievement.

Taliban Execution

Without a doubt, the actions of these ‘Rednecks’ will have the reverse effect of driving the people closer to the Taliban, and causing an uproar of hatred among Muslims everywhere, thus undoing all that’s been achieved to date to get the Afghan people on the side of the occupation forces.

Abu Graib Torture - Is This Condoned in the Military?

The coalition partners, and in particular the USA, cannot afford such incidents as Abu Graib and this latest outrage. Every time such an event takes place it shows the inherent weaknesses present in the American Army. For when you think about it, the responsibility for these actions must lie within the command structure all the way down to platoon sergeant.

I have to ask why it is so difficult for sergeants and junior officers to control the men under their command? If discipline levels were as they should be, and with the proper oversight and control during actions against the Taliban this sort of thing should be impossible.

Under Pressure

I am well aware of the strain under which soldiers operate when in constant fear for their lives, but that does not excuse those individuals who go outside the law and rules of engagement to satisfy a sadistic streak in their personality.

Hearts and Minds?

If the coalition, and in particular the USA wants to win the ‘hearts and minds’ of the Afghan people and get them out of the clutches of the Taliban, then they have to earn that result!

Hearts and Minds Will Win the War

In my opinion, the whole concept of the war in both Iraq and Afghanistan have been handled very badly right from the start. Once sufficient military superiority had been achieved, full emphasis should have been placed on improving the infrastructure of the country by sending as many engineering divisions as possible to rebuild shattered homes, shops, factories and roads. Most important is always the essential items like a supply of fresh water and electricity to all communities.

It is only by giving the people what they need most that you will ever begin to win over hearts and minds.

The Final Solution

The next major hurdle, should these men be found guilty, will be how to punish them. If these atrocities had taken place in the United States it is a fair bet they would receive the death penalty in States that still have it. If however, the same mistake is made as with the perpetrators of the Abu Graib scandal, in that, in my opinion, they did not receive a ‘Just’ sentence, then the animosity among Muslims will explode, and probably not just figuratively.

The Dark Side of the US Army

A whitewash job on the sentencing of these men will fuel anti-american hatred to such an extent the war against the Taliban will never be won. The Abu Graib incident initiated a huge number of recruits for the Taliban and many other terrorist groups like al Queda. This scenario is likely to be repeated. What is more, all the deaths among coalition forces since this war began will be for nothing.

The Cost of Doing it Wrong!

America needs to show, not only the Muslim world but all nations, that it is capable of maintaining discipline within the ranks of its armed forces, and that such behaviour will not be tolerated. Examples must be made of the platoon sergeant, the platoon commander, the company commander, and the string of officers above them. I say this because it must be obvious to even an idiot that these people did not have the proper control over the men under their command to maintain and uphold the ideals of the American Army.

I would consider equal punishment for the members of any army that steps out of line, for those in the US army are by no means the only ones committing such acts against humanity. It is only sad that those serving the USA seem more prone to it.

It is already an uphill struggle to defeat the Muslim insurgency in whatever country, but to hand these people the pure gold of such propaganda is not only unwise, but also extremely foolish.

Pastor Terry Jones – A Simple Solution!

Posted in Afghanistan, Al Quada, Arab, Christianity, Demonstration, Insanity, Insurgents, Islamic Revolution, Modern World, Muslim, Obama, President, Religion, Taliban, Terrorism, Terrorists, UN, United Nations, USA with tags , , , , , , , , on 10/09/2010 by floroy1942

Not in My Name!

There is a very simple and cost-effective answer to the furore surrounding the “Quaran Book-Burning Day” threatened by Pastor Terry Jones and his cohorts.

Pastor Jones

Surround the whole church and congregation with fire trucks, and the second someone lights a match, turn on the hoses. Sounds simple, but very affective!

Such a humiliating action would probably be sufficient to take the wind from the sails of the Muslim demonstrators world-wide.

The amount of media attention this whole drama received has turned it into a world headline incident of devastating proportions. Now 4 people (Muslim demonstrators in Afghanistan) have died because the media made the man famous. Let’s face it, before the hype, Jones was unknown outside his own community but has now received international fame. While I can understand his motives, i.e. being against the ‘Ground Zero Mosque’, this is not the way to change the situation (See ‘Pig Power and Ground Zero’ entry on this blog – another simple solution).

Muslim Reaction

Governments, and even the UN now know the name of this man and his notoriety has set the whole Muslim world on its head. I agree with President Obama in that this mans actions will fuel the al Quada and Taliban recruitment enormously. Those who will suffer the most are the soldiers serving in Afghanistan, and probably Iraq. They will be on the receiving end of the Muslim wrath, not our “innocent” man of the church!

Shame on you Sir!

Roy.

Pig Power and Ground Zero

If you are against the building of Muslim mosques, like ‘Ground Zero’ for example, then don’t waste your time demonstrating because you won’t win.

The Spanish in Seville have found the perfect answer to preventing the building of a mosque anywhere. No petitions, no demonstrations and no fuss, all they did was bury a pig at the proposed site for a huge mosque that had received planning permission from the local authorities, whilst making sure the act was well publicised. This is verified on an Islamic website, and therefore not fiction.

Pig Mosque Builder?

Muslims have a morbid fear of pigs, which they consider an unclean animal,  and believe that contact with any part of one will stop them entering Paradise. Even ground that has been soiled, or on which pigs have been, means a fate worse than death to a Muslim.

Islamic Law even goes so far as to forbid the building of a mosque on pig contaminated ground.

So from a non-Muslim point of view, if you don’t want a mosque in your backyard, ‘Do the Pig Thing’ and all your troubles will be over.

Cordoba Grand Mosque. Spain

We non-Muslims have had to stand by for far too long and watch these people spread their influence within our borders, making full use of our democratic laws of religious freedom and human rights to get what they want.

You may well consider me a religious bigot as you read this article, but let me assure you, the day the first christian church gets built in Riyadh or Tehran (or for that matter any devout Muslim country), and when christians may openly pray, I will be happy for them to build a mosque in our country.

Until then I say, “What is good for the goose is good for the gander!”
