We are without doubt entering a dark future for human kind. The number of wars, murders and riots have been escalating for years and we have no control against it. Our politicians have all but given up against the uncontrolled violence of today.

Middle-East-2014-Chaos

For more than ten years we have seen war in the Middle East and other countries, and murders have climbed through the roof all across the world. In many countries rioting and demonstrations have made most countries unlivable if you want peace. Taxes have gone through the roof, and most people are living on the barest of means, all except the rich that is.

The number of vehicles on our roads are polluting the atmosphere like never before, and we are polluting the oceans to such an extent that pretty soon it will become a plastic cesspit.

None of the politicians are doing much about it except have conference after conference, but very little comes out of it. They make pledge after pledge but very few of these are really put into effect.

The first thing we should do is reduce drastically the number of vehicles on our roads, otherwise we will go back to the horse and cart days. Many people are dying across the world due to the pollution that is choking our skies, and we have to reduce this.

It will take perhaps a hundred years before the Earth gets back to normal, but by that time most humans will have perished due to the constant contamination of  our atmosphere.

42-37534896There is little doubt that if we continue in this way, the government must make some hard decisions to stop the pollution of our skies.

06c19a9d-5ad4-41a7-a264-76af3ec8b6b2-large16x9_TROPICALSatellite1We see huge storms and hurricanes across the world and I think these will get worse as time goes on. Already we have seen tremendous floods in many parts of the world due the unprecedented rain that has fallen on some countries, and in other areas of the world we have seen no rainfall  at all. Spain is one these nations that is running out of fresh water with the reservoirs almost dry. If we do not get some real rain soon the water supplies will dry out.

It is sad what we are doing to our planet, and the human race will eventually cease to exist.

Electric Cars – Not A Good Idea

Electric cars are coming to the forefront of the future, and what is to become of them? They seem to be a good idea in reducing the air pollution around the world, but is it a good idea? How on earth are we supposed to provide sufficient electricity for them.

We are already overloading our power stations with all the electronic gadgets we have, so how are we supposed to provide electricity for cars by the millions. We will need to build thousands of new power stations around the world to provide the necessary power. And what of the charging stations for these cars? They would need to be built by the million so people can get where they are going.

volkswagen-group-opts-for-charging-network-intercharge-chubject

To me this is not the answer, for a catastrophic building programme will need to be initialised to provide all the power that is required by these machines. This will cost billions for every country if it is initiated. Mind you, we could have charging systems in our own home, but imagine what that would cost in electricity bills.

I agree that such cars would cut down the pollution of the world’s atmosphere, and we could in maybe a hundred years get the atmosphere down to what it used to be and save our world from extinction.

Without a doubt, petrol, and especially diesel cars have been polluting the atmosphere like never before in our history. Cities and towns around the world have so much pollution from these vehicles that the general public are suffering. We have to do something about it, but I am afraid the electric car is not the solution. To have everyone driving around in an electric car, van or lorry would cripple the economy of every nation on earth.

The real solution would be to modify our current engines so they don’t contaminate the atmosphere. I think more work needs to be done to make our current engines less polluting. Doing away with diesel cars would be a big step forward, and by modifying our petrol engines so they don’t pollute the atmosphere would also be a big step forward.

We Are Poisoning Ourselves!

Posted in America, Britain, Canada, Conservation, Environment, European Union, Government Spending, News, Russia, Traffic with tags , , , , on 16/02/2017 by floroy1942

What is the world coming to? Disaster, that’s what! New information released by Eco Experts shows a map that tracks world atmospheric pollution by country, and the results will surprise you. More than half the world’s countries are producing a toxic atmosphere caused by industry and vehicles way above what the world can handle.

The Most Toxic Countries In The World

The Most Toxic Countries In The World

As you can see, the most toxic are the oil nations who provide the world with this precious commodity. Next in line is Russia and Canada closely followed by the United States.

It has been known for some time that the atmosphere in Chinese cities are among the most toxic in the world, but there are other countries like Doha in Qatar.

Doha In Qata

Doha In Qatar

To live in places like Shanghai or Qatar must be a very unpleasant experience and your life expectancy must be very short. Already we have seen Chinese people walking the streets wearing masks to try and prevent the pollution from getting into their lungs.

So what does this say for the world as a whole? It means that in effect we are poisoning our atmosphere to the extent that, in maybe twenty or thirty years, the air we breath will so toxic that life expectancy will be very short. The sad thing is that governments the whole world over are not prepared to solve this crisis for humanity.

A group of doctors in London have put forward a request for all diesel cars to be banned from the road because they are the worst polluters of all. It’s a good suggestion, but nothing will ever come of it, for it will be too expensive and the public will never accept it.

American Traffic Jam

American Traffic Jam

It is well-known that many families have three and four cars in America which greatly increases the number of cars on the roads. It’s also one of the reasons why we see major traffic jams on American roads into and out of cities. With more than a billion cars and trucks on the world’s roads it is easy to see where the pollution of our atmosphere comes from.

There can be little doubt that if we continue as we are, the atmosphere will become so polluted that human life will cease to exist on this planet. We are headed for an Armageddon of our own making, and to stop it, governments must come together to solve the problem.

Can You Trust Your New Car?

Martin Winterkorn CEO Of VW - Is That It? - No Accountability?

Martin Winterkorn CEO Of VW – Is That It? – No Accountability?

Car manufacturer recalls are becoming normal these days as one after another, customers find faults with their new vehicles. The biggest scandal to hit the manufacturing industry currently is of course the Volkswagen emissions cheat that has put the company in an unenviable position.

Emissions Test

Emissions Test

This scandal is not directly dangerous to those in the vehicle for they have been fitting parts to cars that cheat the emission regulations and this act not only affects Volkswagen but also Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Porsche, and overseas-brands SEAT and Skoda. So from this you can gather that a great many vehicles have been affected.

The sad thing is that air pollution has become a major worry today with the number of vehicles on our roads which are causing many diseases like cancer among those who breathe in the fumes daily. From this you can understand that cheating an emissions test is putting people’s health at risk, although not directly. But Volkswagen are not the only ones, for many other companies have had to recall their products for one reason or another.

New cars cost a fortune these days, but sadly times have changed for it is difficult to have 100% faith in what you have bought. Eleven vehicle manufacturers have issued recalls because of faulty Takata airbags in their vehicles that have killed more than 10 people and caused the recall of 34 million vehicles. Drivers were killed when a faulty airbag exploded in front of them and sent shrapnel into their face and bodies.

Result Of Toyota Gas Pedal Fault

Result Of Toyota Gas Pedal Fault

Among some of the worst problems associated with manufacturing errors were the Toyota ‘out-of-control’ gas pedal in 2009 and 2010 which resulted in 30 deaths. In 1980 Ford recalled more than 21 million cars for a fault that allowed the gearbox to slip from ‘Park’ into ‘Reverse’ causing more than 6,000 accidents, 1,700 injuries and 98 deaths. In 1995 car makers Honda, Nissan, Chrysler, Mitsubishi, GM, Mazda, Suzuki, Subaru and Isuzu were caught out by a seatbelt failure where the release button jammed and people were trapped in the car by their seatbelts. Since 1980 a total of 50 million cars have had to be recalled by the manufacturers for serious defects.

These are all manufacturing faults that are causing problems for motorists across the world. It makes me wonder how far this trend will go? Are we at some time in the future going to be travelling at 120kph down a motorway when one or all four wheels fall off the car?  It makes you wonder.

VolkswagenIt is a sad indictment of today’s world that manufacturers will take any risk to save a few pounds to increase their profits. Years ago when I was young you bought something knowing you would get literally years of use out of the product because it was made properly without any shortcuts, or as today, a built-in life of a year or maybe two if you are lucky.

The main problem is that people today are fixated on money, and the more they have the more they want. All manufacturing companies take shortcuts, or use items in the manufacture of their product that they know will have a limited life.

I worked for a well-known copier manufacturer in years gone by as a Quality Test Engineer and carried out tests on parts used in the machines to see how long they would last. I also carried out quality tests on products being used to build the machines on the manufacturing line. Many times I found unsatisfactory parts, but was overruled by management who went ahead and fitted them anyway.

Faulty Airbag

Faulty Airbag

That was a long time ago, but now the situation is even worse, as indicated by the use of the Takata airbags which obviously had not been quality tested sufficiently. It is an epidemic where manufacturers concentrate on profit instead of reliability, for they do not care if what you bought breaks down after one year, because they know people these days will just go out and buy a new one. Such is modern life and the sad thing is, no-one seems to be held accountable.

The Flying Farce

Posted in America, Britain, Europe, Insanity, Modern World, News, UK, USA with tags , , , , on 01/11/2013 by floroy1942

I read a report today that we can expect flying cars to take off within the next few years. The report indicates that this could be the mode of travel for many in the future, but to be honest, I doubt it.

The Future?

The Future?

A vehicle of this type would need not only certification from the body governing aircraft, but also from those who regulate vehicles on the road, but manufacturers seem to think they can satisfy both requirements. At the moment there are such vehicles but they are still restricted to taking off from airports and not from the road.

Companies are currently developing flying cars that will take off vertically, presumably from just about anywhere, but that is a few years down the line. It will be strange to see cars zipping along the highway with a set of wings folded down each side, but even stranger to see these wings unfold and then for it to take off on the road ahead. Even scarier would be a situation where you are driving down a road and see one land in front of you!

Inside A Flying Car

Inside A Flying Car

What gets me about this whole scenario is the inevitable chaos we can expect if this sort of thing becomes the norm in the future. Can you seriously imagine cars taking off and landing on roads and zipping across the sky like a flock of out of control birds? I sure as hell can’t. We have enough chaos on the roads as it is what with careless drivers, drunken drivers, speeding drivers and those on drugs. Every day of the week there are hundreds of thousands of crashes across the world and now they want to give these people the opportunity to fly! The mind boggles!

Look to the sky anywhere in the future, and especially in or near big cities, and we would probably have the significant possibility of mid-air collisions and could find these things dropping out of the sky like pigeon excrement! Its one thing to say we would have traffic lanes and avoidance systems built in, but they are not infallible with an idiot behind the wheel. A crash on the road gives you at least a reasonable possibility of surviving, but from hundreds of feet in the air, no chance! And what about those underneath who are going merrily on their way only to have some idiot drop on top of them. For me, I have to say that we have more than enough problems on the roads without adding the chaos to the skies above us.

City Traffic Of The Future?

City Traffic Of The Future?

I too have seen the sci-fi movies where flying vehicles move around a city in orderly fashion in specific lanes, but does anyone really think such a thing will work in practice with the crazy individuals we see behind the wheel of a car these days? I for one don’t hold out much hope, plus the fact that those vehicles usually operate on an anti-gravity system which is a lot different than relying on a propeller.

It may be possible that a few of the rich and super rich will avail themselves of this new phenomena but hopefully it will never get into the hands of ordinary people. Looking at the price quoted by one company, Terrafugia, their Transition model will be available for the princely price of a mere $280,000 (£173,000) which is only a little less than what you would pay for a Cessna Skyhawk fixed-wing plane, so the chances are slim at best. The company has already received around 100 orders for the new craft, so when they begin to roll off the production line, it might be a good idea to keep one eye on the sky just in case some pilot/driver has had one too many, if you know what I mean.
