Breast Ironing – The Barbaric Torture Of Young Girls

I have come to the conclusion that in many countries some people are still barbaric beyond description. It is unbelievable that in this day and age countries still hold on to torture as a way of life. I wrote some time ago about the genital mutilation of young girls by Muslim families, but now I discovered that there are other forms of torture that are traditional.

Breast Ironing Using A Hot Rock

One of these is breast ironing which is prevalent in some African countries and is carried out by immigrants in Britain today. The general idea is to prevent the natural growth of breasts in young girls, and involves them having their breasts beaten, burnt and massaged in order to stop them developing.

The reason for this is to make young girls and women less attractive to the opposite sex so they can concentrate on school work. Really, of all the excuses I have ever heard this must be one of the most ridiculous.

One young woman said, “They put a spatula on the fire and then they press it on the breast, and yes, it hurts. Then it goes weak, it’s like melting, fat melting and you can feel the breast going back.” Once this is completed they often have their breasts bound tightly to prevent any further growth.

All this torture just so they can concentrate on their school lessons, and prevent them being attractive to young boys? What sort of animals are these people?

Experts are of the opinion that such torture can lead to cysts, abscesses, and even breast cancer. Geraldine Yenwo, the founder of Came Women and Girls Development Organisation said, “A lot of them have inverted nipples, they’re not able to breastfeed their children. Emotionally and psychologically, your self-esteem is very badly affected. Physically, some of them have one large and one flattened breast.”

Conservative MP Jake Berry is requesting the government make such actions illegal, and so it should be. Those responsible for such acts should be locked away for a very long time, for this type of torture does not belong in the modern age, much the same as genital mutilation.

What Can Often Be The End Result

I know that there are many backward civilizations in the world, but to intentionally mutilate your children seems to me beyond bizarre, and it makes you wonder why this sort of tradition ever became ‘normal’ with some people.

Ever Heard Of FGM?

Posted in Afghanistan, Child Abuse, England, Europe, Human Rights, Immigrants, Justice, Muslim, News, Police with tags , , , , on 06/02/2015 by floroy1942

Its a fair bet that women will understand the initials FGM far more than men, mainly because it concerns them even though it is carried out by men. Confused? Never mind, FGM stands for female genitalia mutilation and is carried out in many countries to female children and adults.

FGM In Africa

FGM In Africa

Sometimes the reason for this is religious, and in other cases because it’s tradition, but either way the victim has no say in what happens to them. It is generally carried out on infants and girls up to the age of fifteen, but is occasionally inflicted on women after childbirth or marriage.

FGM In Practice

FGM In Practice

The actual procedure calls for the removal of the clitoris or labia, the narrowing of the vaginal opening; or piercing, scraping and burning of the genital area. This is more often than not carried out without anaesthetics, using knives, scissors, razor blades and, in some instances, even shards of glass. Normally the patient will be held down by three or four women while the ‘practitioner’ carries out the procedure.

To say that this is barbaric is without doubt an understatement, but the practice is widespread and not restricted to any single country or religion. It is most prevalent in Africa but also in Muslim countries of the Middle East, India, Pakistan and Afghanistan, but it happens in Christian countries also.

In many other countries it is down to pure tradition. The practice of female genital mutilation dates back at least 2,000 years and was used in ancient Egypt as a sign of distinction amongst the aristocracy. In some cultures, it is valued as a rite of passage from childhood to womanhood but others believe it is a means of preserving a girl’s virginity until marriage. In most countries that still practice it FGM is a pre-requisite for marriage, with marriage being vital to a woman’s social and economic survival.

Within the Muslim faith Imams have been known to say that a woman does not have the right to enjoy sex with a man, although there is nothing to substantiate this in the Qur’an. They say a woman is born for the sole purpose to serve her master and bear his children.

FGM-women-who-have-been-cut-1024x887It is estimated that around 680,000 women and children have suffered this in Europe alone, and world-wide estimates by UNICEF put the figure at 125 million.

Statistics indicate that the United Kingdom, with 137,000 known cases, has twice as many such cases as any other country in Europe. France comes next with 61,000 cases followed by Italy, Holland, Germany, Austria and Belgium. These mutilations are restricted solely to immigrant families.

The tragic part about this whole affair is the lack of legal action against the perpetrators of this vile act. Only recently Britain made its first ever prosecution against British doctor Dhanuson Dharmasena, but he was this week acquitted of carrying out FGM on a new mother in London.

Dr Dhanuson Dharmasena

Dr Dhanuson Dharmasena

At his trial it came out that Doctor Dharmasena had to put in a stitch to stop a woman bleeding after emergency labour. The woman had previously suffered FGM when she was a child in Somalia. The doctors lawyer made the following statement: “My client strongly believes this case was nothing more than a show trial – an effort by the CPS to regain some confidence after failing to bring a prosecution despite FGM laws being in place since 1985.”

However, it would seem that the law in Europe is finally waking up to this scandal. European Commission figures to January 2012 show that in France 40 men have so far been charged, with six in Spain, two in Italy and Sweden, and the Netherlands and Denmark with one each. Pitifully few when you consider the number of children and women who have been brutalized.

Now why you may ask have so few been charged, well, in the UK the problem is that the police do not investigate such cases. The UK Parliament’s Home Affairs Committee (HAC) said,  “The police and others told us two factors contributed to the small number of investigations — a reliance on victims or witnesses to report to the police, which they are unlikely to do, and the failure of health, education and social care professionals to refer cases to the police where they suspect FGM to have taken place.”

One would imagine with this mutilation being as common as it is both the Social Services, Health Authorities and the Police would do more to bring charges against the individuals responsible. Any doctor who finds evidence of this practice during a routine examination should be duty bound to report it.

The HAC said in its report,  “A key feature of the French system is the use of regular medical check-ups on children up to the age of six, which includes examination of the genitals. The system is not mandatory, though receipt of social security is dependent on participation. Furthermore, girls identified as being at risk of FGM are required to have medical examinations every year, and whenever they return from abroad.”

It would appear that France has got its act together before any other European nation. We can only hope that more will follow their lead and put an end to this vile practice.

We Do Have Some Barmy Politicians!

Posted in Britain, Children, England, Liberal Party, News, Parenting, Parliament, Politics, UK with tags , , , on 08/02/2014 by floroy1942

I couldn’t believe what I was reading when an article appeared about Lib. Dem. MP Jenny Willott complaining that girls are scarred for life by the tradition of: “Pink for girls and blue for boys”.

Our Lib Dem Equality Minister

Our Lib Dem Equality Minister

She told Parliament that this idea “hampers girls at school and holds women back in the workplace” Where on earth did she get that load of bunkum? According to her, the ‘(en)gendering’ of toys, i.e. dolls for girls and cars for boys, “instructs children on how they are supposed to feel and behave”.  She is quoted as saying, “It is not fair to make little girls feel that they should not be kicking footballs or building with Lego, and it is equally unfair to make little boys feel ashamed of playing netball or of pushing a doll along in a pushchair,”

Girls Only

Girls Only

In her opinion, ‘a girl growing up with dolls will never have the opportunity to find out if they could be an engineer in adult life, and conversely, a boy who does not have a sewing kit will never know if he could be a great designer.’ What a load of rubbish. So I suppose according to her theory, all the world’s great male designers spent their growing years playing with sewing kits!

According to this crazy woman, (I hesitate to use the word politician):  “It is a really important issue and it’s fundamentally important to our economy as well, it’s not just a side issue as I think it sometimes can be portrayed. It is a really important one to the future economy of this country.”

Oh! So now the economy of the nation is in jeopardy because little girls play with dolls and little boys kick a football. I am sorry Ma’am but you are a raving lunatic.

Boys Only

Boys Only

There are bitter complaints by feminists about the toy manufacturers who ‘gender’ toys in advertisements, complaining that for example, Meccano  sets are aimed at boys who will later all become engineers while the girls will not have a chance because they play with doll’s.

What she fails to realize is that no child of three, four or even eight has any idea what they will do when they become an adult. That is the furthest thing from their minds. No girl child of five is going to think, ‘Oh! I have to be a nursery school teacher because mummy keeps buying me dolls!’ No boy will think at such an age, ‘I am going to be an engineer because daddy bought me a Meccano set!’

It is not until much later in their young lives that any child develops an idea of what profession they wish to follow. With the state of the job market these days, for many you take what you can get so choice doesn’t really come into it.

Women Engineers Are Not As Rare As You Think!

Women Engineers Are Not As Rare As You Think!

With the  gender equality achieved by women at the moment, there is little to stop any woman from becoming an engineer or a male from being a dress designer. Regarding the latter, most of the world’s top designers are men, and I’m sure they didn’t all get sewing kits as children. The crux of the matter is always: ‘Do you have the qualifications and are you good enough at your job.

What Is The Fuss About? We have 'Gay' Dolls For Boy's These Days!

What Is The Fuss About? We have ‘Gay’ Dolls For Boy’s These Days!

When I say this, I am not denying that there is still some bias in the world, but if a woman clearly has better qualifications than a man she has a good chance of getting the job. There are some jobs that are traditionally reserved for men like working in a coal mine or on the shop floor of steel mills. This has nothing to do with gender, but more to do with the fact the work is extremely arduous and requires levels of strength that women do not possess.

I just cannot believe that our politicians would waste time debating such a stupid topic, and it makes me wonder if this woman is fit for the job she has been given by those who voted for her. Mind you, if asked she would probably put it all down to the fact that she only ever got dolls to play with as a child.

Some Demonstrators Make Me Very Angry!

Posted in Britain, Demonstration, England, English Schools, Insanity, Police, Prison, UK with tags , , , , , on 08/04/2012 by floroy1942

It’s a long road to total stupidity, but an event yesterday shows we have finally reached that goal in spectacular fashion. During the Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race, an annual event since 1854, the event was disrupted by a world-class idiot who thought it was the right place to hold a protest. Dressed in a wet suit he deliberately swam into the path of the boats, forcing the race to be halted.

Oxford Suffer A Broken Oar

Although it was restarted some 30 minutes later, Cambridge’s’ victory was sour however, because at the time of the incident Oxford were in the lead but broke an oar when the two boats collided after the restart, giving the Cambridge team an unfair advantage. In their desperation to make up time with one less oarsman, one of the Oxford team collapsed with fatigue after the boat crossed the finish line. Medical reports say he has regained consciousness and will hopefully make a full recovery.

An Oxford Oarsman Collapses

The protester, Trenton Oldfield, said he was protesting against ‘Elitism’ which he claims ‘leads to tyranny’.  What should he have against students who work hard, get the grades, and are admitted to two of the best, and most certainly famous universities in the world. Where does he think all our philosophers, scientists, academics, writers, economists and politicians etc come from, the local secondary modern school? Does he imagine that our country can do without such places of higher education?

Stephen Hawking - A famous Oxford graduate

Every affluent country has such seats of learning, and they are needed if we are to advance in our knowledge as a race. Many of the most famous people in history graduated from either Oxford or Cambridge, and that is something idiots like Oldfield should not forget. Far from ‘elitism’ it is a form of higher education that provides a nation, and indeed the world, with its foremost thinkers.

Trenton Oldfield - Smug S.O.B.

He was smiling when pulled from the water and was obviously proud of the fact he had stopped one of Britain’s oldest traditions. He was subsequently arrested by police and charged under the Public Order Act. I suppose he will get a slap on the wrist and then be free to have a go at the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations and the Olympics.

People like him make me sick and very angry, but I hope he is satisfied that he got his face on TV and in the newspapers. I have no doubt he will be bragging to his mates about it.

Give Him A Clout!

Along with many of the comment writers on the story, I hope he gets the book thrown at him and they lock him up for a long time. Its time we taught these self-righteous prats they cannot get away with such stupid, senseless stunts. Many of the comments suggested the two university teams should have just kept going and given him a few clouts with the oars as they passed. That I can also agree with.

Prison Tough Guy - Always On The Lookout For Fresh Meat!

There is nothing wrong with demonstrating about serious issues, and many who do have my support, but this is bordering on the insane. I believe the laws should be tightened and much tougher sentences handed out to idiots like Oldfield. They should be handed over to a few of the tough guys that infest the prison population and we will see if he is still in mind for such stunts after his backside is red raw. End of rant!
