A Benefit System Scandal

Much has been said about the Benefit System in Britain today, in particular how easy it is to live for free in our once great democracy. It is not until the true facts hit you in face so to speak, that many people will believe the stories.

Tales of people living off benefits who are perfectly capable of going out to work, families and young girls making a life for themselves by having children just to claim benefits, so called ‘job seekers’ who don’t really try, it all adds up to billions of pounds each year.

The government departments responsible for monitoring those who claim are woefully inadequate or incompetent, however, every now and again we do hear of someone who has been caught out. There have been cases in the past where so-called invalids were monitored having a high old time on holiday in various parts of the world, no sign of crutches or wheelchairs anywhere, and ‘jobless’ people have been caught red-handed working privately somewhere or other.

A TV team have brought home another truth about our scandalous tax payer give-away, and that is to EU migrants who come here from other European countries to live the high life on benefits. The programme was aired recently on television and although I was unable to record the whole thing, I did find it on You-tube, split into three parts. It does make for compulsive watching to see how foreign nationals have come to our country to live off the system, and coincidentally, the British tax payer.

They are gypsies from Slovakia and Romania and come here to live the kind of life they could never have in their own countries. You cannot blame them for wanting a better life.

The Average Romanian (Not Gypsy) Is A Hard Worker.

The Average Romanian (Not Gypsy) Is A Hard Worker.

To the credit of true Romanians, they are quite willing to work for their money if they can find a job, and I can attest to the fact that the Romanian people themselves are hard workers, however I do not include a majority of Gypsies in that category. I went to Romania many many times over a period of ten years and have seen these things first hand.

What must be galling to most people in Britain is the ease in which these people can gain entry into the benefits system after they have landed. Just a few pieces of paper and they are free to claim any number of benefits without having done a days work. They get free housing, free medical care and by comparison to their homeland, live a life of sheer luxury without having to lift a finger, except to sign the claim form of course.

European Immigrants Come By Bus

European Immigrants Come By Bus

One of the most annoying things about the whole system is that they can claim for children who are not even in the country. One family in the film has eleven children and eleven grandchildren and can claim for the lot. The money he gets goes straight back to Romania or Slovakia depending on where he is from. Many bring their parents over here and they immediately start claiming benefits also, which only adds to the burden on the British tax payer.

It is time we had a government willing to put a stop to this disgraceful situation and began coming down hard on these people. Not only the EU immigrants, but also the foreign ones that come here from outside the EU. We must turn to a system like Germany where you have to be in the country doing a job of work for a long period before you can even think of claiming any benefits at all.

Immigrants who come here must have a job waiting for them and have enough money to be able to live outside the benefits system. Benefits must only be given to those born in this country, and who hold a British passport. People like those in this film should be rounded up and sent back to their home country if they have no income other than benefits.

For those ‘homegrown’ benefit cheats, they should be rounded up, made to pay back their ill-gotten gains and serve a prison sentence. Children’s allowance should be paid for the first two children only, and not a cent more.

It Remains To Be Seen If This Is The Man To Solve Our Problems

It Remains To Be Seen If This Is The Man To Solve Our Problems

Only in this way can we sort out the quagmire that our previously much-vaunted benefit system has become. It will take a tough government to solve all these problems in the way I describe and that will certainly not be the Con/Lab/Lib parties. I have seen a lot of people are going to put their faith in the UKIP party of Nigel Farage come the next election, and if he is true to his word and gets us out of the EU, or at least gets us out from under the choking Immigrant and Human Rights Laws, then as a nation we may stand a chance of recovery from this Blair/Brown nightmare. I wait in hope.

Hire Brits Over Immigrants? What A Joke!

Matthew Hancock

Matthew Hancock

I had to laugh when I read the comments made by Tory Business and Education Minister Matthew Hancock that companies should hire British citizens over immigrants. I fully agree with the sentiment, but to be honest, its practically impossible.

If, as a business owner, you had the choice of an immigrant capable of doing the job with the absolute minimum of training over a Brit who’s education standard is so low he may never learn to do the job, which would you choose? Sure, there are many qualified people in the UK, and if they are not lazy, or benefit cheats, they demand high wages, whereas an immigrant will do the job for a lot less money. So again, which would you choose?

The Effects Of His Mismanagement Of The Education System Now Become Apparent

The major slump in our education system, fostered and nurtured by the previous Labour government under Tony Blair, has made the majority of UK residents below the age of 45 practically unemployable for many skilled jobs. The majority, and in particular the young, cannot read or write properly and have the aptitude of an ass for skilled work.

I read quite often the comments people put on news stories on the internet and I am dumbfounded at the poor writing skills of many. It is clear that to string an intelligent sentence together for them is an impossibility, and as to the spelling skills – forget it. Example: “r u going to the disco?” – answer – “No I ar’nt, u?” While the language as per the example above may be fine for speed typing on the phone, it is not the language to use on a CV, which many bosses have reported seeing.

Immigrant Worker

Immigrant Worker

It was interesting to note that under Labour 74% of jobs were being filled by immigrant workers, whereas under the Coalition, that figure has dropped to 55%. Thank God that someone has at last had the common sense to ensure more British jobs for British people, but naturally that figure must be lowered even more.

The ‘fly in the ointment’ however is that next year we will be forced under EU Rules to accept immigrants from Romania and Bulgaria. I cannot speak for the Bulgarians, but from personal experience during visits to Romania I can tell you that they are reliable and hard-working. I am sure many bosses will want to hire them, providing they can learn our language.

The Knock-on Effect Of The Blair Years

The Knock-on Effect Of The Blair Years

Many UK bosses have already said that much of today’s youth is utterly unemployable.  To say that much of today’s youth in Britain are dim is understating it by a long way.

But the sad thing is, it’s not restricted to the youth, for many middle-aged people cannot spell or string an intelligent sentence together.  A portion of today’s UK workforce are lazy and prefer to live off the ‘Social’ rather than go out and work for a living. What is really sad is that the core of highly trained professionals in industry are getting older and will soon be retiring, if they haven’t already, and that will be the end of the British engineering and manufacturing industries without the influx of highly skilled foreigners from Europe and the rest of the world.

I had to chuckle when Matthew Hancock said more effort should be given to training local people for jobs. It really depends on the job though doesn’t it. If its carrying crates of vegetables from a truck into a warehouse its not a problem, even an ape could do that, but what if its a complex machining job like lathe work requiring accuracy measured in thousands of an inch? What then!

Apprenticeship 1950

Apprenticeship 1950

I do agree with one statement Hancock made, that apprenticeships should be brought back. This system of training for young people can be traced back to the 12th Century when young boys began  a training programme that would take them to adulthood when they were able to start out on their own. Although conditions changed over the years, the system was in place until the late 1970’s when it died out, mainly due to the decline of British manufacturing industries, caused in the main by the Unions running the country and demanding ever higher wages.

Micrometre - Today's Youth Would Not Even Know What It Is!

Micrometre – Today’s Youth Would Not Even Know What It Is!

The main essential point behind the scheme was to provide industry with a ready pool of skilled workers capable of doing complex jobs immediately. The system worked very well, and in it’s heyday made Britain a world leader in manufactured goods and engineering. The scheme is still struggling along in some sectors but is a shadow of its former glory. We need it back, desperately, for that is where our fully trained and competent workers of the future will come from.

Sadly, with the education standards today being what they are, with many youngsters struggling with basic reading and writing it will be a profound struggle. We need a government that will knock our education system into shape and get our children learning what they should in order to climb out of this pit Labour dug for us.

Back When Teachers Knew Their Subject

Back When Teachers Knew Their Subject

But then we come across another problem, and that is the education system itself. How can we expect to teach our children all the right things when many of the teachers couldn’t teach a cat to pee! I am well aware that many of them do a good job and are fairly well trained, however, there is an increasing number of untrained teachers taking over classes and that should not be allowed to happen. If many teachers were to take a GCSE or higher level exam in their chosen subject it is not certain that all would pass.

Years ago, when teachers were real teachers, knowledge came from their head because they all knew their subject off by heart and books were rarely used, whereas today it all comes out of the book. Take them away from most of today’s teachers and they are lost, because in many cases they just quote the book. Years ago if you asked the teacher a question he/she would give you the right answer immediately because they knew their subject inside out.

Raising Standards - That Would Help!

Raising Standards – That Would Help!

So that leads us to the conclusion that before we can revitalize children’s knowledge, we have to start training teachers properly so they are fit for the job.

Another thing that must be done is review the national curriculum. This business of skimming over such subjects as geography and history is detrimental to the overall education of any child. At least one foreign language should be a part of the national curriculum for obvious reasons. It should be German, French or Spanish, not as some bright spark in the government suggested last year, Chinese. Every other European nation teaches at least one, and often two or three languages as part of the curriculum. We do not have the right to the arrogant stance that “Oh everybody speaks English!”

Impossible Unless We Increase Education Among The Young

Impossible Unless We Increase Education Among The Young

It will be a long road before British people can join the job market in a serious way because we must first get our teachers capable of teaching properly, then begin with teaching our children in a very serious way all they need to know. Only with these two steps will we be able to ensure that our future generations become employable in a modern world. Otherwise the rest of the world will blindly pass us by.

The French Roma Deportations – Are They Justified?

Posted in Britain, Child Abuse, Children, Europe, Human Rights, Immigration, Modern World, Police, Spain, Theft, UK with tags , , , , , , , , , , on 14/09/2010 by floroy1942

For over a week the papers and news bulletins have been loaded with criticism of The French governments deportation of Gypsies (Roma) back to Romania, and now the EU Executive Body has thrown its ten-cents into the pot.

Just Another Sanctimonious Politician

The EU Justice Commisioner, Vivienne Reding called the whole affair “disgusting, and is endorsing legal action against the government of France. My only reaction is to say, she obviously has never had a Gypsy encampment near her home, and neither have any of the rest of them.

I find all this ‘Bleeding Heart’ sympathy for the Gypsies to be naive in the extreme, and am quite sure none of these idiots have ever had any dealings with the Roma population of Europe.

The Traditional Idea of Gypsies

Say what you like about discrimination, but these people are born beggars, thieves and pickpockets and have been the scourge of this continent for hundreds of years. It is only in fairly recent years that the plague has spread to the United States to a much smaller degree. It is a proven fact that as soon as Roma Gypsies move into an area the crime rate rockets for burglary, car theft and pick-pocketing. The police know this, but are powerless to stop it.

Blatant stealing of a laptop:

But by far the biggest targets for Gypsies are tourists in all of Europe’s major cities. Just use the following link to watch a film-clip from YouTube and you will know exactly what I mean. There are dozens more on the page on the same topic.

Report on gypsy children being forced to beg:

Caught on Camera

Madrid has a particularly large Roma community and according to the police, as many as 95% of the children caught committing crimes in the city are from this segment of the community. A favourite sting is for one to distract a customer using a bank ATM while a second will snatch the money as it exits the machine and run. It is a very common crime in Madrid and thousands of unwary victims have had their money stolen from under their noses. One young Gypsy girl told a news reporter she could make €300 in a single snatch. One of the problems with Spanish law is that these children cannot be prosecuted because they are too young and usually handed over to a care centre, which lets them go.

What most of these ‘Goody Goody’ politicians don’t seem to realise is that it’s ordinary people who are the victims of these crooks, not the fancy hierarchy in their ivory towers! It’s people like you and me who have their houses and cars broken into and end up the targets of the pickpockets. I am sure they would change their tune and not be so high and mighty with their fancy principals if they were.

Light FIngers

No matter which way you look at it, the Gypsies are a band of professional thieves and always have been. I have been to Romania myself many times and seen how they operate first-hand, I was even robbed once myself so I know what I am talking about. Children are forced to beg as soon as they are old enough to walk, and forced to steal as soon as they are old enough to run.

Self Explanatory

The one thing that has changed over time is that gangs have in many instances taken over much of the control of the thieving throughout Europe by the Gypsy community. Many now work for bosses still residing in Romania where they live in huge expensive villas. Girls are often kept as slaves by these individuals and put to work as soon as they are old enough.

Those children not connected with the gangs are forced into it by their own parents and/or relatives and have no choice in the matter. The following BBC report should be sufficient to convince even the most sceptical! You will find the BBC video clip most enlightening!

There are misguided individuals among us who think the Gypsies are discriminated against and have no real chance at a normal life, this I can assure you is pure bullshit, at least for the reasons the ‘bleeding heart brigade’ give.

Beggar – A Common Sight

These people have been wanderers throughout their entire history and are such through choice, its as simple as that. The elders will not allow their offspring to attend a school for the simple reason it is more often than not, the children who provide them with their income, and it would force them to stay in one place. You have to remember that thieving is a lifestyle that suits their nomadic life; they move in, take everything of value, and move on before they can be caught.

Whatever you may think of human rights, persecution, discrimination and the like, the Roma love to portray themselves as victims of all these things for the simple reason it gets them what they want.

Modern Gypsy Caravan

As a final note let me say that not all Gypsies are like those portrayed above. I know many in Romania who have integrated into society and are hard workers, many are well educated. To these people I take my hat off for the simple reason they have broken the mould and become constructive and decent members of a modern society no matter in what country they live.

You may or may not be happy about the deportations taking place in France, and which could soon be repeated in Italy, but whichever side of the fence you are on, if you come in direct contact with these people you may well change your mind. I hope for your sake you never do.

Crazy? You Couldn’t Make it Up: Season 1 Episode 3

Posted in Travel with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on 28/02/2010 by floroy1942

Have you heard the one about Russian townsfolk finding almost a hundred T80 battle tanks seemingly abandoned in the woods near their village? Someone from Yekaterinburg, a city in the Ural Mountains came across the tanks, covered in a thick layer of snow, near the railway station of Elanovskaya just outside the city. The tanks had been parked alongside the track next to the woods, and covered a large area. Video footage made by the person discovering them showed no sign of a military presence and he even quipped on camera, “If you want a tank come and get one”.

The T-80

A spokesman for the local military command said there was nothing unusual in the situation. The tanks had been parked there awaiting transportation to a storage depot. According to the spokesman, there was an armed guard at the site, but I guess they must have been in the local pub when the tanks were discovered. It seems quite possible the ‘missing’ guards will be in for a tongue-lashing when they get back to base. Ah! The life of a soldier!!!

It seems 200 passengers on an Air Canada flight from Ottawa to London Heathrow had a nasty surprise just before take-off. As the plane was taxiing a large rat was seen in one of the overhead luggage compartments. The Captain was informed and the aircraft returned to the terminal  and the passengers disembarked. Air Canada staff tried to locate the stowaway but to no avail. Passengers were put up in a hotel for the night before boarding another aircraft to complete their journey the following morning. As for the rat, it has not been seen since, but security experts believe it was trying to enter the UK illegally as it did not appear to be carrying a passport when seen!!!

You have to admit, bad luck can strike anywhere at any time. A German speed skater called Patrick Beckert will rue the day he switched off his mobile phone at the Winter Olympics. He was fourth stand-in for the final of the 1000m speed skating event when twice world champion Enrico Fabris dropped out one hour from race time. The three skaters on the list above Beckert could not be contacted and so he was called to replace Fabris in the final. When German officials heard of the situation all the stops were pulled out to contact the young man, but by the time he returned the 17 missed calls, there was insufficient time to reach the stadium from the Olympic Village. His chance of Gold  had slipped by on silent wings!!!

Currently the Art World is in raptures over a Romanian tramp who turned out to be something of an artist. Ion Barladeanu, a 63 year-old former tramp on the streets of Bucharest has been hailed for his collages of Romania during the Ceausescu period. Discovered in 2007, he managed to exhibit his work in Romania before eventually travelling to Paris. Here the fancy-pants ‘oh-so-chique’ brigade took one look at his work and were swooning left and right. I don’t go much on the self-important and pompous ‘artsy’ folk of Paris, but I am very pleased that Ion Barladeanu got his moment of fame and no longer has to sleep rough. He should however not read too much into the acclaim he currently receives from the flitsy art crowd of Paris; with them its here today and gone tomorrow.

I seem to remember them having egg on their faces very many years ago when they were in raptures about a new unknown artist. It turns out the ‘new genius’ was a monkey!!!

Have fun, and whatever you do, enjoy life!

Madonna With Foot in Mouth

Posted in Britain, Europe, Theft, UK with tags , , , on 29/08/2009 by floroy1942

What makes Madonna think she knows anything about Romany Gypsies? Once again she has put her big foot in it, and this time at a concert in front of thousands of fans in Bucharest.

During the concert she said she felt ‘sad’ at all the discrimination against Gypsies and Roma! This did not go down well with her Romanian fans, and I have to say, for someone who has probably never even seen a Gypsy close-up before she went to Romania, she has a bloody cheek!.

Closeted as she is in America, Madonna would not recognise a Gypsy if he stole her purse! She has no understanding of the long history here in Europe of the thievery and begging that is the heart of their culture. All she has seen is the music and dance side of them because she has Gypsy musicians with her on the tour.

What does she know of the centuries of stealing anything that is not bolted down, of the pickpockets that roam the streets of every major town in Europe, and the constant begging? What does she know of the encampments all over Europe that turn a once pretty site into a rubbish tip?

We in Europe know all too well, that if Gypsies move into the area, you had better bolt your doors and lock away your valuables, because otherwise they will disappear. It has been this way for centuries because it is the one thing on which their lives are founded.

As soon as Romany children are old enough to stand they are taught how to beg on the streets. When they are old enough to run they are taught how to steal wallets, purses and other valuables we carry on our persons. There is no if, but, or maybe, that is the way it is, and always has been.

You may well ask, what do I know of Gypsies and Roma? Well, I have spent a great deal of time in Romania in the last sixteen years. I have seen where and how they live, and I have talked with many Romanians who fear and detest them for the stain they place on the Romanian people.

During my first visit to Romania many years ago with an aid organisation, the villagers were unloading the truck into a storage area. Much of the cargo was clothes for the village people. There were half a dozen males who volunteered to work inside the truck passing out the plastic bags while many more people carried them inside the building.

It was no more than ten minutes later that a commotion broke out at the back of the truck and the Village Mayor removed the men from inside. We were astounded to see them peel off five or six pairs of trousers and four or five shirts they had put on under their own clothes while in the truck. Such is the cunning of these Romany. Thankfully, the Mayor knew his people and there were no more incidents after the offenders were removed from the scene.

I have seen children of three and four years old begging on the streets of Bucharest, and one time I even had my wallet stolen. So, Yes! I do know what they are like.

The really sad part, is the population of Europe have put all the Romanian people in the same category! In reality, non-gypsies are good, hardworking, and extremely generous people who would do anything to help if you were in a bad situation.

Romanians are the complete opposite of the Gypsies and Roma, but such is the influence and total distrust of the latter throughout Europe over the centuries, that the ordinary Romanian people can do no good.

My wife and I have a Romanian friend here in Spain. We recently helped him and and his wife to settle here in the south after work dried up in Madrid. He and his wife are hard working, conscientious people with good hearts, but can he find a job here in the south; not likely!

He has applied for many many jobs since they arrived, but the first question from his potential employer is; “Where are you from?” As soon as he says Romania, the immediate reply is “I’ll call you tomorrow!” Of course they never do because the bad reputation of the Gypsies always precedes any honest Romanian trying to get a job.

It is an undisputed fact that most of the petty crime committed here in the south of Spain can be laid at the feet of the Romany.

There are of course some Romanians who are just basic criminals, I will not dispute this fact. I personally know several who even boast of their thieving exploits and are quite proud of the fact. But to be fair, there are career criminals in every race on earth. To me, it does not mean that all should be tarred with the same brush, but you cannot get away from the centuries of distrust and hatred sown by the Romany!

Romania has been dogged by the stigma of the Romany people for too long, but I fear as long as they exist without changing their culture, things will never improve, and even then it will take generations.

Will Madonna ever learn to engage brain before opening mouth? I hope so.

Roy.
