Rebuilding Gaza – Again!

Posted in America, Britain, England, European Union, Gaza and Hamas, Iran, Israel, News, Palestine, Terrorism with tags , , , , on 17/10/2014 by floroy1942

Once again many nations are talking about donations to rebuild Gaza after the last few months of their war with Israel. So far around $5.7 billion has been raised by donations from countries like the USA, Britain, Qatar, Kuwait, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and many others. It is well known that countries are very quick to promise large donations in time of need, but sadly many do not fulfil their promises.

But the main concern of everyone is that after the rebuilding programme is completed at some date in the future, Hamas will once again provoke Israel into retaliatory action, and more damage will be caused. Following the 2008 and 2012 confrontations, this is the third time donations have been made to restore Gaza’s infrastructure.

Hamas Missile Ranges in Israel

Hamas Missile Ranges in Israel

The problem is that Hamas will not accept Israel as a nation, and attack when they have built up sufficient resources. This last spat was also the fault of Hamas who began attacking Israel with rockets fired from within Gaza, and what else would anyone expect Israel to do in such circumstances but retaliate. Who would accept rockets raining down on their towns and cities and do nothing about it? You? I doubt it!

How The World Sees The Situation

How The World Sees The Situation

Their strategy has always been the same, provoke Israeli retaliation and then use the calculated deaths among the civilian population to gain world sympathy for their cause. The sad thing is, people are so gullible as to believe the lies they spread, and Israel gets all the blame.

It is true the damage to Gaza has been severe and the casualties among the population high, but then you have to ask why? The simple answer is the tactic of Hamas to fire their rockets from the middle of built-up areas, by schools and hospitals.

Different Part Of Town, Same Picture.

Different Part Of Town, Same Picture.

Aerial photo’s have proven this to be true so no-one can dispute this fact. It is true the Israeli counter-attacks have caused a lot of damage to the infrastructure of Gaza which must be repaired, but so long as Hamas is in existence there will be no end to the fighting, and it will erupt again in the future unless an agreement is signed.

Self Explanatory.

Self Explanatory.

The big problem for the current donors is, what happens to the money when it is handed over? It is well known that the Hamas leaders are all billionaires, and when you consider they all started with nothing when they stopped being a terrorist organization and became the government of Gaza, it must make you wonder where all the donations went. On top of that, for years supplies of cement and other building materials have been donated to Gaza but most of it was diverted into building the myriad of tunnels Hamas used in this last attack, and for smuggling arms into Gaza.

So Where Did All The Concrete And Wiring Come From - Take A Guess!

So Where Did All The Concrete And Wiring Come From – Take A Guess!

All of them were lined with with concrete, and had electric lights with tracks for trolley’s for moving equipment. The Israeli soldiers, and international observers, were quite surprised at the sophistication of the ones they found. It was estimated at the time that each one would have cost around $1 million to build, so you have to ask, where did the money come from?

Iran Attempts Arms Smuggling

Iran Attempts Arms Smuggling To Gaza

Well, considering the financial state of Gaza there can be only once answer, the international rebuilding donations! This money, handed over in good faith for rebuilding the infrastructure of Gaza for the people was siphoned off for the Hamas war effort, and to make its leaders ultra-rich! Hamas had managed to acquire over one thousand rockets for this last confrontation with Israel, and you should ask how they got them.

Smuggling Tunnels From Egypt

Smuggling Tunnels From Egypt

It is clear they were smuggled in through the many tunnels that exist on the border with Egypt. It is not hard to suppose they were provided by Iran who has always been a close ally of Hamas. It is true that Hamas manufactured many crude rockets themselves, but they still needed the parts to make them.

Hamas Kills Their Own People

Hamas Kills Their Own People

These ‘home made’ rockets fired by Hamas were of poor quality. Many failed and actually landed in Gaza killing many of their own people, but they still blamed the Israeli’s.

Hamas Training Children

So far as a new outbreak of violence is concerned, we will have to wait until Hamas has spent the donations meant for the people on acquiring new arms and stockpiling them until they have enough.

So the sad truth is, all the attacks on Israel in the past have been financed by western nations making donations to ease the plight of the Palestinian people, and that is apart from making the leaders of Hamas multi-billionaires. Makes you think doesn’t it!

India’s Shame – The Starving Children

Posted in Britain, Child Abuse, Children, Health, Human Rights, News, Nuclear Proliferation, Nuclear Weapons, Torture, UK with tags , , , , on 24/11/2011 by floroy1942

In a country that has seen enormous economic growth in the last decade, has nuclear weapons and a space programme, its hard to imagine that 41.6% of its people are reliant on foreign aid to keep them alive.

India´s Economy – Set for 8.5% Growth Per Year

Since 2000, the economic wealth of India has grown to the extent that it is now the ninth largest economy in the world, and fourth largest in terms of purchasing power, and yet many of its children are starving to death.

India first tested a nuclear bomb in 1974 and now has an arsenal of such weapons. Year on year the government is spending billions of dollars to develop, aircraft, aircraft carriers and submarines as a means to deliver them, and yet many of its children are dying of hunger.

Space Programme – More Important Than Children´s Lives?

The country also has an expensive space programme which has put up several satellites, the first being Aryabhata, launched in 1975 aboard a Russian rocket, and yet the children of India are starving to death.

With hardship so widespread in India, some 41.6% of the population are living below the poverty line according to 2005 figures, it is hard to imagine that the country can afford the extravagance of nuclear weapons and a space programme, but such is the mind of governments!

Looking For Scraps

Ever since India joined the free-market economies of the world, it has seen a massive increase in the middle class sector, due for the most part to the country embracing modern technology and providing services to other countries. The destitute have however been left far behind in this growth, for India has more starving people than the whole of Africa. Recent estimates put the number of people  below the poverty line in Africa at 410 million, while in India the figure is 645 million. The latest population estimates indicate India has in excess of 1.2 billion inhabitants which makes it the second largest country after China  in terms of inhabitants.

Ever since 1947 when India was given independence by the British Parliament, our government, among others, has been pumping aid money into the country to the tune of hundreds of millions of pounds every year. The present government under David Cameron has elected to continue paying £280 million a year until 2015 into the coffers of the Indian government in New Delhi. India has one of the largest food aid programmes in the world.

Ultimately Responsible?

What is now under discussion, is what happens to that money?

This is where the ancient beast corruption raises its head once again. Not surprisingly, it is not only the low level workers that are stealing aid intended for the poorest families, but many government officials who are supposed to oversee distribution.

Desperate For Food

Rations Packs intended for the most needy children are being systematically hi-jacked on route and sold on the black market as, believe it or not, animal feed. In the meantime, the poor, for whom this aid means life or death, are dying from malnutrition to the tune of two million a year. Some 61 million children (48%) in India suffer from stunted growth due to malnutrition.

A Mother and Dying Child

I really have no idea if this is the Indian governments macabre idea of population control, or if it is just plain greed and corruption, but I hope it’s the latter. Whichever way you look at it, many people are getting obscenely rich over the corpses of the country’s young. Also, it seems to me we are doing nothing more than footing the bill for their nuclear and space programmes, for the one thing that seems to be missing is a sense of priorities.

When Disaster Strikes – Haiti Versus Japan

Posted in Britain, Environment, Europe, Haiti, Oceans, Pacific, UK, United Nations, USA with tags , , , , , , , , on 17/04/2011 by floroy1942

Whenever disaster strikes, a media frenzy ensues followed by countries scurrying to offer the most money for reconstruction and humanitarian aid.

It has almost gotten to the stage where it has become a game among the richest nations to see who can ‘pledge’ the most. The offers are well intended, but the country that is suffering rarely gets to see all the money that is initially promised. It is worthy to note that some South American states and Arab nations made no effort whatsoever to donate or assist in the disaster while even tiny countries like Andorra managed to raise funds.

This Guardian report shows the amount of donations by country:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/news/datablog/2010/jan/14/haiti-quake-aid-pledges-country-donations

A Haitian Victim

This scenario was nowhere more evident than the earthquake that hit Haiti, where pledges were in excess of $14 billion for immediate aid on the ground, and cash donations to help in the recovery. Much of the money has still to materialise, and probably never will.

Many nations considered the cancelling of debts owed to them by the Haitian government to be a sufficient donation to rebuild the country, which sadly was of no use to the Haitian people at that time when thousands were dead, and with their capitol razed to the ground.

Haiti Earthquake:

Emergency Aid Team – Haiti

The response of individuals, charity organizations, and rescue teams was immediate and their contribution gratefully received, but alas, the flow of money from countries making huge pledges for clearing the rubble and rebuilding left much to be desired.

Now, some 20 months after the disaster, Haitians are not much better off than they were a year ago. Less than 5% of the rubble has been cleared, and tens of thousands still live in makeshift emergency camps.

Haiti – One Year On:

And now we have another world catastrophe on our hands in the form of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. Once again a country needs the assistance and monetary help of others to overcome a disaster, although to a much lessor degree than Haiti.

Japan Tsunami:

Japan Earthquake Aftermath

Naturally, Haiti and Japan are poles apart when it comes to wealth, and I might add, importance. Haiti is an impoverished island in the Caribbean, while Japan is a major player on the world stage with an economy Haitians can only dream about. As always, a huge effort was made on the part of individuals, organizations, and in some cases governments, from across the world after the initial impact. Much was done to rescue people from the rubble left by the huge  wave that hit the coast.

Japan Relief Effort:

The United States military among others were mobilised to bring initial aid to the survivors in a coordinated effort with the Japanese. Most of the aid money pledged to the Japan disaster relief effort appears at the moment to be coming from private sources with celeb’s and sports stars etc. making donations.

It is true that as Japan is among the world’s most successful economies, there is no requirement for massive donations of cash to aid the recovery. For the most part, I think the nation has received what it needed most, and that was experts on the ground to help with the immediate aftermath.

Aid Teams In Japan

Like Haiti, Japan now has many thousands of its citizens living in emergency accommodation and like Haiti, a huge area of devastation must be cleared before new houses, shops and other businesses can be built. The one big question that comes to mind is , how will Japan cope in comparison to Haiti?

It’s my bet that all signs of this latest disaster will have long disappeared in Japan while the citizens of Haiti are still trying to clear the rubble of their country’s capitol. Personally, I doubt if they will be over their troubles in five years time, such is the shortness of memory of world governments as they move on to the next catastrophe.

It is clear that Japan’s infrastructure is far better able to cope with such an event than that of Haiti, but also, on the world scene Japan is of much more importance than poor impoverished Haiti, and this will be reflected in how quickly the two countries get back to normal.

All nations who have economic ties with Japan will certainly want to see the country back on it’s feet quickly so that business can get back to normal. As for Haiti, well that’s something else isn’t it?

The Mavi Marmara – Comments on New Video Released

Posted in Arab, Demonstration, Gaza and Hamas, Insanity, Israel, Modern World, Muslim, Palestine, Religion, Terrorism, Terrorists with tags , , , , , , on 12/06/2010 by floroy1942

New footage of the Israeli attack on the aid convoy bound for Gaza has been released, smuggled out by Lara Lee of Cultures for Resistance. It is quite graphic, and shows much more of events aboard the ship than any previously seen. The video posted in an article by The Guardian will unfortunately not embed so a link to it is below for those interested.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/jun/11/gaza-flotilla-attack-new-video

Interestingly, it shows passengers firing something at the helicopters with catapults as it hovered over the ship, and one of the first injured people carried below for treatment was an Israeli soldier. So much for the lie there was no resistance from the activists!

Personally, I also have to question the actions of the ships Captain who, from the taped evidence, made no effort to stop the ship once boarded.

It all depends on what side you are on as to whether you believe the Israeli’s or the activists in this saga. Many people are so opposed to Israel they would not admit the truth if it slapped them in the face. On the other hand, if deadly mistakes were made during the storming of the ship by Israeli forces, they would not readily admit it. So who do you believe? You have to make up your own mind on that. Below is more of the footage made by the Israeli’s.

A quick look at the collection of videos finding their way onto YouTube must now be sufficient for even the most sceptic to take another look at their stance on the incident. Many show the soldiers being attacked with iron bars, a stun grenade and even petrol bombs, so you have to ask, who are the innocents here? Its up to you whether you believe all the blame should be given to the Israeli’s, or if they were extremely provoked and had no choice but to defend themselves.

For myself, I am sure errors were made by both sides and the fact these mistakes led to the death of so many ‘civilians’ is certainly sad. There is little doubt from the films that resistance was offered to the boarding soldiers, and many were seriously injured, but for the life of me, I cannot understand the attitude of the activists, who were in my opinion, out to provoke an international incident and thereby some propaganda for the Palestinian cause.

In the event of being boarded by an overwhelming, armed military force, the obvious thing to do is to line up on the deck with your hands raised and surrender immediately. In that way no casualties would have been suffered. This did not happen! It is ludicrous to imagine that ‘unarmed’ civilians can fight off soldiers as tough as the Israeli’s, so why try? Unless it would add more spice to the propaganda by having a few wounded activists? In this they made a deadly miscalculation.

Cries from Muslims of “Allahu Akbar” can be heard clearly on the tape, which quickly brings to mind the shouts of suicide bombers just before they blow themselves up, and as a soldier what would you think of the opposition you were facing? No-one wants to die, even soldiers in the Israeli army!

Either way you look at it, resistance to the boarding has been amply demonstrated on many of the tapes of the incident and that is something that should not have happened. Opposition to an armed boarding force on this scale is useless, and in my opinion, it’s not surprising people died. But the activists got what they wanted, at a heavy price, for the international community is now incensed with the Gaza blockade.

Many people have been blinded by the deaths of ‘innocent activists’ and the dead piling up in Israel are not even taken into consideration. This is a war that has been going on for decades with no end in sight, and it will continue so long as Hamas keeps attacking Israel at the expense of the people they represent, and the Israeli’s keep building settlements on Palestinian land.

Actions like this however are just a waste of human life, and in the long term serve no purpose.

Humanitarian Aid – My A&$%

Posted in Gaza and Hamas, Palestine, Religion, Terrorism with tags , , , on 11/06/2010 by floroy1942

For all those fools who find it necessary to demonstrate against the Gaza Blockade by Israel. Oh Yes, it was filmed by Israel, so that immediately makes it fake doesn’t it!!! But one question: Why should it be fake just because it happened at an Israeli port?

I cannot prove it is real any more than you can prove it is fake, but lets face it, this kind of thing has been happening for years, and along with the tunnels has been the main way in which ‘innocent’ Hamas has smuggled in arms and rockets that they fire on Israel, who of course is not allowed to retaliate!!! Isn’t there an international law somewhere or other that forbids Israel to retaliate when she has been attacked by the Palestinians?????? (That was a joke people)

So to all those innocents abroad (in particular the idiots who recently tried to break the blockade), who think Hamas and the Palestinian people are all ‘innocent’ victims I say: Get real people and watch the video. Its about time you took off your rose coloured glasses and had a look at the real world!

There is nothing as sad as misplaced good intentions.
