Weather Changes

As It Used To Be

I remember when I was a boy in England the weather was a lot different to today. We had some snow in Winter, but not a lot, and Spring came with the trees and plants blossoming all over the place. We went for a walk in the forests to see the wild flowers. When Summer came we had sunshine for most months as the temperatures rose to their middle twenties. In Autumn the trees went from green to red and brown as they shed their leaves in preparation for winter.

We have never seen weather like this in the beginning of Spring with floods, snow in some parts of the world, and Summers so hot we are can barely stand the temperatures. Now all that has changed over the years as the contamination of the atmosphere gets worse as years go by.

The woods and forests in England are all but gone and this is changing the climate. Farmers have cut down the trees that are giving us oxygen to get extra land to grow crops. It’s a tragedy. In all parts of the world forests are being hacked down to give us more farmland and it is destroying the planet.

The amount of vehicles on our roads are slowly clogging up the atmosphere, but no-one takes any notice. Governments are not taking this seriously! In a few years we will have electric cars and lorries rolling across our countries, but will this solve the problem? I doubt it! It may take 100 years to get rid of the poisonous atmosphere, but will we still be around on this planet. I do not know what the future brings, but it will certainly change our lives.

Currently the oceans are full of plastic and that is destroying the fish that some countries feed on. There is a plan to clear plastic from the oceans but that will take years and years, and all the while people abandon plastic on beaches which end up in the the sea. There is a movement to ban plastic for all time and make it reusable. But how long will that take, and it will still end up in the oceans.

Currently the oceans are clogged with plastic all across the globe, and if we are not careful it will be the end of us all.

Heading For Disasater

What is the world coming to? All across the world we see demonstrations by people, and war. I think the world is going crazy! When I was young the world was at peace with almost no demonstrations, and the only thing was the tension between the West and Russia. But things have changed dramatically in this modern era.

Now we see demonstrations across the world and war in the Middle East, and it never stops. The United Nations have been doing nothing except call for peace between nations and they are completely ignored. We have tensions between Russia and the United States and this could lead to war between the two nations. The Russians are backing the war in the Middle East despite the actions in the United Nations.

It is time for the United Nations to do something about it. All countries have been in agreement with the end to the war in the Middle East, and yet the Russians veto the proposals put forward by all other countries. It is time to stop this, and have to relinquish the moment when Russia can veto all actions taken by the majority of countries. We need to have a majority verdict by all nations, instead of one country being able to stop the procedures taken by the United Nations.

I have lived now for seventy-five years, and the changes in the world have been catastrophic. Things are getting worse and worse as countries fight each other, and terrorism is the only thing that is causing this. Although we have seen demonstrations across the world where people are not happy with their governments and the way they do things. Europe is the only safe conglomerate of nations where we do not see mass demonstrations against the governments. There are of course other countries where peace, to a certain extent is quiet, but not all across the world. In South America we see daily the news of mass demonstrations in countries like Venezuela  where the country is ruled by a despot.

It is time the world returned to peace, and if it is necessary, the United Nations should step in with an international force to stop the fighting in Syria. In other parts of the world the same thing should apply where nations are at war.

All across the world we have seen disastrous weather that is tearing the world apart. Flooding and destruction have been happening and we have to do something about it. Before long the world will become unlivable if this weather continues. It is all due to our contamination of the atmosphere that surrounds us.

There are too many cars in the world and this is destroying our atmosphere. Already in China people are wearing masks to stop the contamination from getting into their lungs, and before long we will see this spreading to other parts of the world.

We have to cut down on the number of vehicles across the world to prevent more contamination. Laws need to be passed where it is necessary to ban diesel vehicles, and all families should only have one vehicle. This will greatly reduce the contamination of our atmosphere, and within maybe fifty years we will see relatively clean air. This will allow people to breath properly and reduce the lung disease of many of our citizens.

The trouble is, governments around the world are not doing enough to clean up the atmosphere, and they are afraid to implement the changes necessary. But if we as a human race are to survive on this planet this needs to be done. All nations need to agree on the conditions to clean up our atmosphere, but that will never happen. We will go on in the same old way until the human race is finished.

Trouble In Paradise

When you look at the world it is a paradise compared with the planets that surround us. But it is getting less and less when you consider the world and all its problems. People are protesting around the world for they want a good government. We also have wars with terrorists who want to make the world their own. They wish to rule countries with their own savagery like Islamic State, and who would want that?

In many nations, the western ones in particular, people couldn’t care less about the savagery that is taking over in other countries. Hunger and disease are mounting in places like Africa and the Middle East, but who cares as it does not effect us in the western nations. It is time everyone worked together to stop this, and by that I mean the people, and the governments.

images (1)

We are turning our world into a disaster zone by the petty bickering of governments and the rampant destruction caused by terrorists. Millions of people in Africa are on the verge of death by a shortage of food as the temperature rises around the world. The temperatures around the world are rising as we pollute the atmosphere, and huge parts of countries around the world are not able to grow crops to feed the people.

images

When I was young the world lived in peace for the greater part, but today we see wars going on around the world and millions starving through lack of food. Some nations are helping the poor but it is not enough. We have multi-billionaires who hide their money in off-shore bank accounts, but they do nothing to help the starving people of African nations and around the world. They have so much money that they couldn’t spend it in their lifetime. It is time these people made use of their ill-gotten gains by helping others.

images (3)

The pollution of our atmosphere is becoming more and more as we drive around in vehicles that will eventually see the end of mankind on this planet.

I have lived for 75 years and I have seen the atmosphere getting so clogged with dangerous gases from cars and diesel engines. More and more people are suffering from diseases caused by this pollution, and unless something is done about it we will all be wearing gas masks when we go outside. It is time for the governments of the world to do something about it.

images (1)

Currently there are plans to make electric cars the norm, but this will take years and years as people will not want to get rid of their cars and buy electric vehicles for they are too expensive. What will happen when we all drive around in electric cars?

images (1)

There will be a shortage of electricity, and power stations will not be able to keep up with the demand. It is an impossible situation unless we start building more and more power stations to provide the demand. What we don’t know is the contamination of the atmosphere when everyone starts driving electric cars. Even if these cars do not destroy the atmosphere it will take years and years for the atmospheric contamination to dissipate.

You may think this is all a load of bunkum, but in years to come you will see that it is true as the number of humans of this planet get less and less. People are already dying from atmospheric contamination like cancer, but if we do not do something about it, it will get worse.

images (2)

When I was young people lived to a ripe old age, but today, and at some time in the future the lifespan of people will get less and less. I am glad I am old, for I do not want to see the atmosphere so contaminated that it will be impossible to have a full life.

Our young people, and babies, will have a hard life ahead of them if we do not do something about the way we live now. But there again, maybe we will all cease to exist if a nuclear war breaks out.

A New Year Is Coming

Posted in America, Britain, Demonstration, Environment, European Union, Health, Islamic Revolution, News, Nuclear Weapons, Terrorism with tags , , , , on 31/12/2017 by floroy1942

Our World

Tonight we celebrate the beginning of a new year, but what will it bring us? I don’t think there will be much change in the world as the wars will continue, and demonstrations will be as prevalent as this year. People are dissatisfied with their governments and the rules they are making so we will see demonstrations all across the world.

Governments will not change their plans to satisfy the people they rule, and there are many people in all countries who will not accept this. We are sure to find trouble in the new year as the demonstrations and wars continue unabated.

The whole world is a mess except in a few countries where the people put up with the plans the governments make. The war against ISIL and other rebel groups is far from over and the war will continue, but for how long? Some Muslims want to rule the world and it will not stop unless they wiped out.

The United Nations has done nothing to fight terrorism since the Korean War, and they should get involved by sending troops to wipe out these terror groups. It is the only way the world will get to be peaceful again. The trouble is they sit on there fat asses and do nothing. I had hoped that the new leader of the United Nations would at least do something against these terrorists, but he has done nothing.

What with the atmospheric pollution and the wars all over the globe, we are heading for major wars between nations and the end of mankind on this planet.

We have to do something about it or we will see total destruction of our home planet. Countries have to come together and sort out their differences before the whole world goes mad.

Unfortunately this is not likely to happen as there are too many differences between countries. There have been attempts at making peace in the past but these have all come to nothing, for there is still fighting between countries. Demonstrations have sprung up in the last twenty years or so because people are dissatisfied with the way the governments rule their countries. A prime example is Venezuela that is ruled by President Maduro. In this country he rules with an iron fist, and there are constant demonstrations against him. Its the same in other countries.

Another thing we that could cause the end of humanity on this planet is the pollution levels in our atmosphere. There are well over a million cars and lorries on our roads and each of these are causing the pollution to get worse. When will it end?

2

Pretty soon all of humanity will be going around wearing masks when they venture outside, just as in some Chinese and Middle East cities. The pollution levels are rising yearly with all the cars and lorries on our roads. We have to something about it!

It is expected that electric cars will replace petrol and diesel engines by 2040, but that may be too late. By then the pollution will have risen to such a state that the air will be full of poisonous gases, and people will get cancer and not be able to live a long life. The current generation does not think about the fate of our children and what they will face in the future. We have to start thinking about the future of humanity on this planet, and what the future of our children will be.

What Will The New Year Bring

Posted in America, Britain, Canada, European Union, Human Rights, Islamic State, News, Oceans, Terrorists, Traffic with tags , , , , on 29/12/2017 by floroy1942

images

The New Year is just two days away and what will happen in 2018? Will the world improve or just carry on as it did in 2017. We have wars all across the globe as we try and eliminate the terrorists once and for all. They have been almost been beaten in Syria and Iraq but will they stop fighting? I don’t think so, for they will travel to other countries like Europe and begin attacks on cities all across the continent.

It is sad a world at the moment and we have to improve it somehow. Even in the Far East there are constant battles with terrorists and it is difficult to beat them. The same goes for The Middle East with the many terrorist organisations, and Boko Haram in Africa.

When you look to the future it is doubtful if the world will ever be at peace. It has taken over ten years to beat ISIS and the battle is not over yet. It will take a long time to eliminate these people once and for all, if that is possible.

In the meantime, we have had one of the most terrible winters in the world and it’s not over yet! Next year we could see seriously high temperatures during the summer and next winter could be worse. It is all due to us poisoning our atmosphere with so many cars and lorries on the road, and decimating the oceans with plastic. Already there are huge areas in the oceans that have gathered plastic and contaminated the seas and it doesn’t stop.

Walking along the seafront in Marbella my wife and I have seen plastic bottles floating in the sea among other things. All left by tourists who don’t care about the state of the sea. We have fish that have eaten plastic and been caught by fishermen, and when they are cut open we find plastic waste inside. We have to change our ways. In many cities you find waste on the streets thrown there by people who don’t care.

The atmosphere is getting more and more contaminated with diesel and petrol cars on the roads. Soon we will not be able to go out without wearing a mask of some sort for the contamination will get into our lungs and cause cancer among many.

There is plans to take all diesel cars off the roads by 2040 but that may be too late. Electric cars are the new norm to replace the current engines but that will take years to fulfil.  Who knows what effect the electric cars will have on the atmosphere? They will certainly get rid of the contamination of our atmosphere but it will take years. And who knows what effect this will have on the health of people? We really don’t know.

It is without doubt a sad world, and we are heading for destruction of the human race unless we can stop it now.

Land Clearing And Pollution

Posted in Brazil, Britain, Children, Environment, European Union, Health, Human Rights, Modern World, News, Pacific with tags , , , , on 12/12/2017 by floroy1942

All across the world trees are being cut down at a fantastic rate and it will never end. In the Amazon, and all across the world, the forests are being decimated as mankind ignores the fact that we rely on trees for oxygen to breathe. The oceans of the world also give us the essential oxygen, but they are so polluted that we can no longer rely on them.

Huge swathes of the Amazon have disappeared due to farmers wanting more land for their cattle, and to grow crops. In the Far East large areas of forest have disappeared completely for the purpose of getting more farming land. If this continues we will be starved of oxygen within decades.

We are polluting the atmosphere with more than a billion vehicles on our roads and and they increase year by year, and soon we will have no clean air left the breathe. When you look at the traffic jams around the world you see that most cars have only the driver and no-one else. Very few have more than one occupant. Perhaps we should introduce pick-up points where drivers can travel with someone else instead of all taking their own cars to work. It was tried many years ago but failed.

Electric vehicles are slowly being introduced, but will take tens of years to fulfil before we see all petrol and diesel vehicles disappear from our roads. But what of the supply of electricity? With millions of electric vehicles on our roads we will be hard pushed for power stations to supply enough energy, and what of the domestic supplies that are required to power our homes and gadgets. This will be another big problem for mankind.

We humans are slowly but surely destroying our world, but nobody seems to care except the scientists. They tell us we are heading for big trouble in our world but no-one takes any notice. We all go on with our daily lives and do not care what our children and their children will face in the coming years. Without a doubt they will face hard times as the pollution gets worse and worse.

We have to think of our children and what sort of life they will inherit, for if we do not, they will suffer greatly. Mankind must wake up to the dangers we are putting our lives into, and prevent the end of the world.

Obesity – A Deadly Menace

Posted in America, Britain, Children, Health, Modern World, News, Obesity, Overweight, Parenting, Teens with tags , , , , on 12/10/2017 by floroy1942

images (3)

Walking around these days you see more obese people than slim ones. Obesity is becoming an epidemic of huge proportions and it won’t go away. People are stuffing themselves with poor food that is supplied by the food manufacturers and it it needs to change.

Crops are no longer grown naturally, but fed with chemicals instead of allowing them to grow naturally. Many farmers have two or three crops a year fed by these chemicals and they all end up in the food factories. They are not natural, but have many chemicals added, and on the whole they are tasteless without adding more chemicals like salt, pepper and sauces to give them flavour.

images

I cannot for the life of me see why so many people go to McDonald’s and Burger King among others to have a meal. These are the main reasons why so many people are obese, apart from the poor food they eat at home.

Even cows, chickens and other animals are force feed with chemicals that will make them grow faster and fatter and this is no good. For when we put a steak and vegetables on the table we are ingesting these chemicals and it is not doing us any good.

images (1)

Walking down the street you see obese people left and right, and this is worse in Britain than anywhere else, except perhaps the United States. In a few years time the hospitals are going to be overcrowded with people seeking medical help with their obesity.

It is a fact that obese people will suffer greatly from sickness including, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, stroke and certain types such as breast and colon cancer. There is no way these people will live to a ripe old age as the present old age pensioners do. This will overload the NHS in Britain to such an extent that it will run out of money very quickly. In the end the whole NHS will collapse in on itself.

images (2)

If people are to live to a ripe old age things have to change, and that means the way we eat will have to change rapidly. We cannot go on the way we are for this will lead to a catastrophe.

What To Do About The Weather

Posted in America, Britain, Canada, China, Conservation, Environment, European Union, Health, Modern World, News with tags , , , , on 14/08/2017 by floroy1942

In the last few years we have seen drastic weather changes all across the world. Flooding, drought, heat waves and huge storms have hit our planet as never before. These have all been caused by us humans, for we have contaminated the atmosphere as never before. This is all due to the massive amount of traffic on our roads, and factories that pump out carbon dioxide all of which poison the atmosphere. Instead of allowing the heat to dissipate in space it is trapped in our atmosphere by the pollution. This causes temperatures around the globe to rise as never before. All life on the planet is suffering because of this.

Image result for climate change

The trouble is the majority of people just don’t care about it, for if they did they would stop buying diesel engined cars for a start and begin reducing the amount of traffic on our roads. Some families have three and four cars, one for father, one for mother, and at least one for the grown-up children. They just do not see that so many cars on our roads are causing this atmospheric problem.

As we look into the future we see that electric cars may eventually take over. But the one problem with this is we do not have enough power stations across the world to carry this extra load. Already we are getting close to overloading our power stations, what with all the gadgets we own. So the introduction of electric cars will cause a total collapse of the power generation system. We have to find another way!

Image result for climate changeThe British government is trying to outlaw all diesel vehicles by 2040, but to me that is far too late. We must start taking action now! Even if we stop contaminating our atmosphere it will take tens of years, maybe hundreds before the world gets back to normal. In the meantime many hundreds of thousands will die from our poisonous atmosphere. Lung cancer is steadily on the rise, and they are people who do not smoke but live in heavily contaminated cities like London, Shanghai and Riyad. You only have to look at photo’s of these cities, and many more, to see the cloud of contamination that covers them.

If we do not start acting now mankind will be almost extinct on this planet, for our world, for the most part, will become unlivable. Would you really want to go about your daily business wearing a gas mask? No, I thought not!

The sad thing is, most people do not think of the future but are content to live their lives as they do, and to hell with the future. But what sort of life are we leaving our children and their children? We all love our children, but we have no thought about the situation we are leaving them. You may not have to go around wearing a gas mask but what if they do?

A quote: “According to experts, by 2100 weather-related disasters could affect two thirds of Europe’s population per year, with yearly deaths caused by extreme weather predicted to soar 50 times from 3,000 between 1981 and 2010 to 152,000 between 2071 and 2100.” Currently people are living well into their eighties but that figure will drop like a stone in the years to come, and all because of the way we are polluting our atmosphere.

Image result for climate change

You may well read this and brush it off as nonsense because it doesn’t affect you, but there is no getting away from the problems we will face in the near future. Unless every single one of us starts to make changes in the way we live, we will see in years to come major problems for mankind. But it won’t affect us, it will affect your children and theirs.

A quote: Lead scientist Dr Giovanni Forzieri, from the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre in Italy, said: “Climate change is one of the biggest global threats to human health of the 21st century, and its peril to society will be increasingly connected to weather-driven hazards. Unless global warming is curbed as a matter of urgency and appropriate measures are taken, about 350 million Europeans could be exposed to harmful climate extremes on an annual basis by the end of the century.”

Image result for climate changeIt is said by scientists that Spain will become a desert because of its lack of rain which is getting worse by the year. It is not the only country that will see such a future, but it could also apply to all Mediterranean countries too. Huge swathes of Africa will no longer be livable as the temperatures increase and the Sahara Desert will take over much of the continent. We are not only talking about Africa and Europe, but America will see much the same in its middle regions.

No matter how much warning we get from scientists the people brush it off as nonsense and that is dangerous. We have to do something to stop this climate change, and that means all of us!

By Heck It’s Hot!

Posted in America, Brazil, Britain, Children, Conservation, Environment, Forests, Modern World, News, Politics with tags , , , , on 04/08/2016 by floroy1942

As many people know, global temperatures are going through the roof. It is a matter of record that again this year has been the hottest ever since monitoring began, and you have to ask where it will all end? Will next year be hotter as the temperatures continue to rise?

Holiday Fun On The Beach

Holiday Fun On The Beach

There can be little doubt that mankind is responsible for these changes in our atmosphere, for we have been polluting it ever since the turn of the century, and year on year it gets worse. With the increase in transport and factories over the last fifty years we have steadily been pumping more and more CO2 into the atmosphere than ever before, and year on year it is increasing. It is common sense that at some time in the future there must come a breaking point, at which time people across the world will start dying en masse.

We have had Climate Change Conferences attended by all the major nations in the world, but it would seem that although agreements have been reached, nothing really changes. The politicians are all ready to sign agreements, but when it comes to implementing them very little happens.

Traffic Jam

Traffic Jam

Climate conferences have been held annually ever since 1995, but when you look at the world outside your window, really nothing has changed. The number of polluting vehicles on our roads has not decreased, as it needs to do, but has in fact increased to well over a billion world wide. As people in places like China and India become more affluent, this number will increase even more.

Say what you like, but this number of vehicles on our roads is pushing so much pollution into the air that our Earth just cannot handle it any more. The same can be said for factories, especially in places like China and India that are not as technically advanced as the West.

This increased pollution of our atmosphere is leading to huge areas of drought in many countries, along with  flash flooding, even hurricanes and typhoons in areas of the world where such things have been unheard of in the past. It must make you wonder what life will be like in twenty years time if this keeps up.

To top all this off, we are destroying the only things they can tip the balance the other way, like the sea and forests and the soil.

Amazon Destruction

Amazon Destruction

When I was a youngster fishing fleets would go out and catch maybe a half ton of fish, but these days the huge vessels we have today catch 100 tons every time they lower the nets. In effect we are raping our seas of all marine life. On top of that we are steadily destroying the forests of the world, like the Amazon and many others.

What we don’t care about is that these things are the real life-blood of our planet, for they provide the oxygen that we breathe that keeps us alive. They absorb the CO2 that we put into the atmosphere and give us oxygen in return. Whatever you may think, nature is finely balanced, but so long as we continue to destroy that which gives us life you can be sure that eventually humanity will disappear from the planet. These days are approaching rapidly in historical terms because we are not doing enough to correct the balance.

Health_effects_of_pollutionIf mankind is to survive we have to make some very hard choices, but most people are not willing to do this because, at the moment, it doesn’t affect them. But you should think of your children and their children, for what sort of world are we going to give them? Will they be wearing a gas mask all day because the levels of pollution are so high? Will people be dying in their hundreds of thousands from pollution right, left and centre? What chance will your grand-children have to live a normal life?

These are all questions we must ask ourselves in this day and age, for if we are to ensure they have a good life then we need to do something now to stop the rot!

Pollution Levels

Pollution Levels

Governments must start taking the measures needed to stop the destruction of our home planet even though they will be unpopular with the people. To begin with they could restrict families to one car only which would greatly reduce the number of polluting cars on our roads. They can do this by improving bus and train services in towns and cities so it is no longer necessary to drive to work.

Earth In Big Trouble

Earth In Big Trouble

Some people seem to think that the electric car is one of the great solutions to our contamination problems, but we have to think logically about this. If everyone drove around in electric cars, which are non-polluting,  it would put a totally unsustainable load on power generating plants, which would be unable to cope.

Governments need to stop the destruction of forests world-wide, and ensure that new trees are planted wherever possible. Were we to have hundreds of new forests across the world this would go a long way to replenishing the oxygen that we all need.

Modern Trawler

Modern Trawler

Also we need to stop the literal rape and pollution of the seas for they too provide us with oxygen. Fish species are dying out at an unprecedented rate, and if we keep on the way we are going there will be none left. I remember when I was young that some cod were caught that were eight or ten feet long, but now you are lucky if they are four feet long. We are killing them off before they have a chance to grow.

Another thing we need to change is the steady destruction of the soil that is needed to grow crops to feed us. We are producing so much farm produce that we have destroyed the natural elements in the soil that allow crops to grow healthily. Farmers have for decades been spraying crops and adding synthetic nutrients to the soil in order to get crops to grow.

Air Pollution In The Future

Air Pollution In The Future

These chemicals are steadily poisoning our food and creating all sorts of sicknesses within the human body. They are slowly but steadily destroying the ground that we need to sustain us with food. Much of it also ends up in streams and rivers and finds its way eventually to the sea.

There can be little doubt that if mankind is to survive for another century, there must be some major changes in the way we live and care for our environment, and everyone must do their bit, and that includes you and me!

Paris Climate Conference – COP 21

Posted in America, Britain, Canada, Conservation, Environment, Europe, Insanity, Nature, News, Oceans with tags , , , , on 29/11/2015 by floroy1942

Next week sees the next round of international climate conferences in Paris and many people are wondering what agreements are going to be reached. What is just as is important is how effective the agreements will be. Will governments live up to the actions they have agreed to take, or will it be just like all the previous conferences where everything is forgotten after the doors close behind them?

Some People Just Do Not Believe What Is Staring Them In The Face

Some People Just Do Not Believe What Is Staring Them In The Face

I have a tendency to believe in the latter, for up until now not much has been done about the major threat of climate change despite all the agreements reached in the past. The evidence for urgent action is happening every day, and yet most people just ignore it or simply do not believe it.

Major hurricanes/typhoons, flooding and drought all across the world are indications that things are changing rapidly, and it is up to mankind to make the necessary alterations in the way we live otherwise they will escalate, and life on Earth will become precarious indeed.

Polar Ice Cap Loss

Just One Example – Polar Ice Cap Loss

Most people scoff at the idea of climate change because they do not know how the climate behaved 50-60 years ago, and they have nothing to compare todays weather patterns with. Those of us who are old remember clearly the mild weather patterns of the 1950’s and 60’s when for example, hurricanes were totally unheard of in Britain. You cannot say that now. We old ‘uns remember when we never had major flooding, and long periods of drought like we do now in Britain. I can say much the same about the United States.

It is only when you have the real knowledge of what our weather patterns were so long ago that you begin to realize how much it has changed in the last thirty-odd years. Looking around at what is happening in the world at the moment I find it hard to believe that most people just do not see what is going on.

Too Many Cars

Too Many Cars

I can well understand the young people today who decry the very idea of climate change, because what we experience today is all they have known since they were born, but that does not mean they should not listen to those who have experienced better times.

Most governments are crying out about capping global temperature increases to just 2 degrees celsius but none of them are taking any concrete steps to make this happen.  But there will surely come a time when they realize the mistake they have made, but sadly, it may well be too late by then.

Loss Of A Major Asset

Loss Of A Major Asset

We still have the coal-burning factories, more than a billion cars on the road worldwide all contaminating the air we breath. We are still contaminating our farmland and waterways with chemicals to grow food, while at the same time decimating the world’s great forests like the Amazon which provide us with so much oxygen. We are also doing irreparable harm to our oceans with over fishing and plastic contamination. I have to admit, it makes me shudder to think what the world will be like for our children, and in particular, our grand and great-grandchildren.

Loss Of A Major Asset

Loss Of A Major Asset

It is indeed sad that people today are so self-centred, they do not give a single thought to what their children and children’s children will have to put up with in the future. It’s all about themselves and what they can get out of life, and sod tomorrow!

It is true that the world’s governments can only do so much in avoiding major changes in world weather, a lot of it has to come from the people themselves. We the people have to begin working together to drastically reduce the effects of global warming wherever we can, for if we don’t, future generations will pay a heavy price.

Get Fat And Live Off The State?

European Court

European Court

Once again the European Court has gone off the rails by decreeing that obesity, which is totally self-inflicted, should be considered a disability when being too fat hinders a person from doing their job properly.

In the judges opinion obesity itself was not a disability, but if a person had ‘long-term impairment’ from their size, then it would count as a disability with the associated protection.

Benefits OfficeFrom this judgement we can expect a mass of people heading for the Benefits Offices across the country demanding disability payouts because they are too fat to do their job. Another fine excuse for people to stop working and have their lifestyle paid for by the State. It also gives no incentive for people to try and get back to a normal weight.

When you consider that a quarter of the UK population is classed as obese this could cost the government, and eventually the tax payer, billions every year.

Overweight And Its Clear To See Why!

Overweight And Its Clear To See Why!

What really stinks about this whole farce is that no matter what excuses fat people give, this is a self-inflicted situation because people do not care what they eat, and cannot be bothered to exercise.

Much of the working class eat pre-prepared meals or processed food that contains numerous chemicals that might be easy to prepare, but in the long run do our bodies no good whatsoever. With both parents working it is easier to just shove a pre-prepared meal in the microwave than take the trouble to buy fresh vegetables etc. and make a proper meal. The ones who suffer most are the children.

There can be little doubt that nutrition is not what it used to be, for when I was a child my mother stayed at home and prepared a proper meal each day. These days even so-called fresh vegetables and meat are full of chemicals because of the way they are grown or raised. Vegetables are contaminated with insecticides and meat with growth hormones because the farmers cannot wait for their cattle etc. to grow naturally.

Children Playing In The 50's

Children Playing In The 50’s

As children in the fifties we were outside playing during our free hours, not slumped behind a computer or game station. At weekends the family went for walks in the local park or in the countryside, none of which is possible these days because most parks are now shopping centres or housing estates.

Instead of walking to school or work every day mummy now takes the kids to school in the car and both parents take the car to work. Is it any wonder that today’s generation is so fat!

Speaks For Itself

Speaks For Itself

How often do you eat at places like McDonald’s or Burger King? Too often I’ll bet! Excellent food for piling on the pounds, but who cares, once I am too fat to do my job I’ll be able to claim disability benefits.

If nothing is done to sort out the way we live today it will be a case of maybe 20% of the population working to support the 80% who are on benefits of one kind or another. So much for the modern way of life!

There is another side to this problem that will affect many employers, for this new ruling now also indicates that where necessary they must re-arrange office space to make room for the over-weight workers and install wider chairs to accommodate them. It even goes so far as to give special parking spaces with more room for obese workers. There is little doubt that this new rule could cause a major upheaval for employers, and in the workplace.

NHS In Self-Destruct Mode

Posted in Britain, Budget Cuts, England, Health, Immigrants, Modern World, UK with tags , , , , , on 24/11/2012 by floroy1942

It may not come as a surprise to many people that the British National Health Service (NHS) is steadily collapsing through mismanagement, poor patient care, poor nursing staff, and doctors. While there are many fine nurses and doctors in the system even today, ‘it ain’t what it used to be folks’!

The reasons given for the breakdown of the NHS are varied, mostly centred on budget restraints and a shortage of staff. But is this true? Firstly, like most government institutions, our NHS suffers from rampant over-expenditure on goods and services provided by private sources, i.e. paying way over the odds for drugs, equipment and other services that can be obtained cheaper elsewhere because the managers do not shop around for the best price. Its the old saying: ‘If you want to get rich quickly, get a government contract’! Secondly, A shortage of staff should not be countered by hiring foreign nationals with little or no credibility and a minimum of English, but make the profession attractive to our own young people.

1950 – Always A Nurse On Duty In The Ward

Looking back, I remember when the NHS was a shining example to the world of how a national health system should be run. As a patient you were guaranteed the best possible care with staff who would do their utmost to ensure your stay was as comfortable as possible, and the skilled surgeons did whatever was necessary to ensure your continued good health. So what the hell went wrong?

Are You Sure You Have The Right Patient?

Today it’s a daily occurrence for surgical instruments to be left inside the body when the patient is sewn back up after a procedure, people are left for hours in soiled beds and there are never staff around when a patient has an emergency. To top it all, patients have died because they were given medicine that was intended for others. You are extremely lucky these days if you go into hospital for surgery and come out without having contracted some other disease while in their tender care. Many of the nurses are extremely rude to patients, and this occasionally applies to doctors too, and you will be lucky if you have nurses on your ward who even speak English!

The number of complaints and claims against hospitals have gone through the roof in recent years and no-one seems capable of sorting out the mess. Last year officials logged a total of 760 so-called ‘serious untoward incidents’ in the NHS, and more than 4,000 patients required further treatment after doctors accidentally injured them during surgery.  But worse than that, a total of £310,000 was paid out in compensation to people who were operated on the wrong part of their body by surgeons because of name mix-up. Doesn’t give you much faith in the system does it? You go in for kidney stones and they take off your right leg!!!

Subjecting Yourself To Unknown Risk?

In addition to the above mentioned problems, in 2011 there were a total of 45 patients who suffered severe complications because instruments used during surgery had not been sterilized properly, and records show that more than 4,000 people required additional care because they suffered an accidental cut, puncture, perforation or internal bleeding while being treated for something else. Approximately 3,500 patients suffered severe complications because one or other medical device or piece of equipment failed to function correctly. It cost the NHS more than £2m last year in compensation claims from patients who had been revived after surgery only to find that something had been left inside them, which naturally required a second operation to remove it.

There is no possible excuse for the latter, for all operating staff should know you count the instruments before you start and count them again when you finish – a simple procedure that is highly effective and is designed to prevent such cock-ups.

Matron Knows Best

Fifty years ago we did not have all the fancy apparatus they have now, but by Heaven, the hospitals were a thousand times better than they are today for all the advancements made in the medical world. In those days there was never a spot of dirt anywhere in the wards or operating theaters because everything was supervised by Matrons with years of experience in their field and they ruled with a rod of iron. You never waited more than a couple of minutes before a competent nurse came to your bedside when you called. Everyone spoke English because they were English, not Caribbean, Muslim, Polish or Czechoslovakian etc. They were not even allowed on the wards until they were proven capable. Doctors were all British and were expert at what they did and relied on in-depth knowledge rather than a fancy machine to tell them what was wrong with their patient, and believe it or not, 99.99% of the time they were right!

I am sorry to say that today’s NHS is a complete and utter shambles and is more of a danger to the public than a rogue lion on the streets for you can shoot a lion!

I do feel very sorry for those doctors and nurses who do their work with pride and give their patients the kind of care they are entitled to, for their reputation has been tarnished by the lazy, rude, and downright incompetent idiots that abound today within the system.

Self Explanatory

When Tony Blair’s Labour Party started its massive recruitment of foreign nursing and doctor staff for the NHS they were not even bothered if the applicants spoke English or had proper training but just hired willy-nilly right left and centre and shipped them over to Britain, and this is why the system is failing so badly these days. Its the knock-on effect!

I rather think that within a very few short years the whole system will collapse in on itself unless someone takes it by the throat and shakes it, and then starts reorganizing it right from the top to the bottom. I am just glad I will never need its services for here in Spain they at least know which end of a scalpel you use to cut with.
