Brexit! Who Can You Really Believe?

Posted in America, Benefits, Britain, Budget Cuts, David Cameron, Elections, European Union, Human Rights, Immigration, News with tags , , , , on 12/06/2016 by floroy1942

As the Brexit poll comes closer each side is hotting up as each accuses the other of telling outright lies. The big problem is who do you really believe?

David Cameron

David Cameron

On the ‘Stay’ side we have heard a lot of may, could, and possibly stories about what will happen if the United Kingdom leaves, but the fact is no-one knows what will really happen.

The ‘Stay’ campaign is telling us that we will go into economic free-fall, millions will lose their jobs, the export market will collapse, the pound will drop drastically, interest rates will drop, house prices and wages will collapse, and oh so many more things. It would seem from their rhetoric that we are heading for the complete annihilation of our country.

But to me, this is all supposition and scare tactics designed to persuade the electorate to vote to stay in the E.U. They, like everybody else, do not have any idea what the effects will be on the country and how the E.U. will react.

We have contracts with many countries to export goods that are essential to their industry and I cannot see these companies suddenly cancelling them the day after the results are known.

Car Parts For The E.U.

Car Parts For The E.U.

What about the car manufacturing business? If they stopped all parts made in Britain their factories would have to close down for maybe months until a new supplier is found. British workers make a lot of parts for companies like Volkswagen, Audi, Opel and many others. The same goes for other businesses on the continent, many of whom rely on British made parts for their machines etc. There is no way this trade will suddenly stop if we vote ‘Out’.

Another area of controversy is Cameron’s insistence that our economy will suddenly take a nosedive. I am fully prepared to admit that we may see a slowing down of the economy until such time as we can sell goods to other countries across the world. Another thing he insists on is that house prices will drop to drastic levels, wages will hit rock bottom, and many things will  get a lot more expensive. Cameron also insists that the NHS and pensions will take drastic cuts.

It is all supposition designed to persuade people to vote to stay in the Union. Cameron and his cronies have been ‘suppositioning’ for long enough, and its time we heard the truth from them.

Boris Johnson

Boris Johnson

On the other hand, the ‘Leave’ campaign have also done their share of  ‘telling porkies’, but in my view to a much less extent. Both Boris Johnson and Michael Gove have been accused of lying about the huge influx of Turks that will invade our country if the E.U. agreement with Turkey on visa free travel goes ahead. I for one do not think they are lying. I think we will see a huge number of Turks moving to our country, all wanting to take advantage of our generous benefits system.

If we vote ‘Out’ we will be able to close our borders securely and let in only those who can be a benefit to the country like skilled workers. We can put a stop to all the Muslim migrants who are coming here to benefit from free money and accommodation.

We can also get rid of the Human Rights farce that is making a mockery of our Justice System. We can then deport all Muslims who are causing trouble in our land with their demonstrations for an Islamic State. We can rid ourselves of all the Muslim and other nationality criminals who are filling up our prison system. All positive advantages that the idiots in Strasbourg deny us.

Another bone of contention is the supposed £359m that we pay to the E.U. every week. Many have come out and said that this is not true for the actual figure is £17m a week. Even that to me is a huge sum of money when you consider it, £884m over a year. As Boris Johnson says, That could go a long way to solving all our problems with the NHS which is being stretched to the limits by immigrants.

Michael Gove

Michael Gove

There are of course many other arguments that are bouncing back and forth, but the one thing that sticks in my craw as I have said before, is the plan by those in Brussels  to form the ‘United States of Europe’ under their direct control. Eventually this will mean that all national governments will be wound up as complete control is handed over to Brussels. This I cannot vote for under any circumstances. Anyone who does not believe this should read about the Brussels plan to have every national flag emboldened with the twelve gold stars of the Union.

Union Flags?

Union Flags?

I have already reported on the fact that should Britain leave there are other countries that may well follow. In Germany, France, Holland, Denmark and several other counties there is a growing movement to also hold a referendum on staying in the E.U. Should this happen I can see the end of the Union, and it will take years for all countries to recover.

There can be little doubt that both sides are exaggerating the facts, but for me, I come down on the side of Boris Johnson and Michael Gove. It’s time we got out of this mess we call the European Union.

Don’t Put Your Faith In Polls

Posted in America, Benefits, Britain, David Cameron, Elections, European Union, Human Rights, Immigrants, News, Politics with tags , , , , on 21/04/2016 by floroy1942

Britain is being hammered by polls at the moment covering the Brexit issue, and to be honest I think they are a waste of time. There have been dozens, and each one gives a different result ending in total confusion for the public. One says the ‘In’ People are winning and another says that the ‘Out’ people are, so what can you make of it. Well, nothing really!

Not Worth A Damn

Not Worth A Damn

It all depends on the size of the poll and where it was carried out. If you go to the heart of London where people are bankers or work for international businesses the answer is sure to be that we stay in. On the other hand if you go to a town in the Midlands the answer may well be that we should leave.

Do you ask 100 people or a thousand, or maybe several thousand, either way the result will be skewed depending on where it is carried out.

Polls in the past have led to some pretty drastic results which have all been nullified when the final results come in. The last election is a prime example where the poll results were turned on their head come election day.

To me polls are a total waste of time because they do not represent the true feelings of the public, and are usually so small as to be totally insignificant.

Leaning The Other Way

Leaning The Other Way

It is up to each individual in the country to make up their own mind and vote as they see fit on polling day. So from this you can gather that no-one will know the final results until they are in on the day of the election. It is important that people do not allow themselves to be swayed by the results of these advance polls, for they are not representative of the true feelings of all the public on this question.

We have our champions for leaving and staying, among them Boris Johnson and the P.M. David Cameron both of whom have their own views. There are of course many others, and it is up to each individual to make their minds up as to what they believe is right.

We hear so much scaremongering among some of the politicians who tell us  that we are heading for a fiscal catastrophe if we leave the union, but I don’t believe any of them.

Let’s face it, for a start we would save £362 million a week if we leave, which is our contribution to the E.U. Fund. It may not sound a lot to some people, but imagine what we could do with that money. As someone said, it would solve all the problems in the NHS! It would also solve a lot of other problems that we are suffering.

Currently A Free Ride

Currently A Free Ride

One of the best things that would come out of a Brexit is that we would once again be able to control our borders, something we have not been able to do since Tony Blair. Our problems do not only concern the immigrants from outside the E.U., but also those from within. We currently have hundreds of thousands of Polish migrants who have come here to work and open up shops etc, and we can add to that Romanians and others who come here to a certain extent to live off benefits.

Imagine what will happen when (a) the visa free travel for Turkey to Europe becomes law, or (b) when Turkey joins the E.U.. We will see hundreds of thousands of Turks moving into Europe, and many will want to come to the U.K. because of our lax benefits programme. Should Bexit become a reality we can at least close our borders and concentrate on getting our current problems sorted out. I am sure that Britain will go through a period of hard times, but we will recover and eventually turn out to be the winners in all this.

What The Papers Have To Say About Strasbourg

What The Papers Have To Say About Strasbourg

Another major advantage will be that we can get rid of the Human Rights commission in Strasbourg  and begin once again to practice the proven efficiency of the British Law System. There will be no more criminals let off because of these interfering idiots in Strasbourg who love to side with killers and criminal immigrants.

The people in Brussels are constantly trying to increase their influence in the running of member countries, for there is little doubt that their final aim is to form a United States of Europe ruled from Brussels. This means that at some time in the future we could see all the governments of every nation put out of business and Brussels makes all the rules and governs each country.

Will This Become The Flag Of All European Nations?

Will This Become The Flag Of All European Nations?

When the E.U. was formed everyone had high hopes of making Europe one of the most successful continents on the planet, but as we have seen over the years, things have steadily got worse, and it will get even more so as more years go by.

So the message is, forget these stupid polls, make you own mind up and don’t be swayed by them. In June we will see who comes out on top, and for myself I hope it is the ‘Leave’ campaign.

Now The Truth Is Known About Muslim Immigrants

Posted in America, Britain, England, English Schools, European Union, Germany, Immigrants, News, Politics, Religion with tags , , , , on 12/04/2016 by floroy1942
Muslims On Benefits

Muslims In Britain

It has taken many years, but finally we know the truth about the feelings of Muslim immigrants to the U.K. The truth is they have no intention of integrating into British society and wish to live apart from us.

Trevor Phillips

Trevor Phillips

The former head of Britain’s Equalities and Human Rights Commission (EHRC), Trevor Phillips has admitted that he got the whole integration thing wrong, which comes after an exhaustive survey of Muslims in Britain. While in office he made every effort to ensure they integrated with society, but based on the results of the survey has admitted that he “got almost everything wrong”.

He has now admitted that the Muslim populations in Europe are “creating nations within nations”. He admits that they hold different values to the rest of us and want to lead totally separate lives. One of the reasons why we see our Muslims taking over whole boroughs like Bradford and Tower Hamlets in London among many others.

Muslims In UK

Muslims In UK

He said that councils should be wary of Muslims taking over entire housing estates before they turn into “ghetto villages”. With regard to education, he was convinced that they should accept no more than 50% immigrants (per class) to ease the integration of Muslims. This would also help British children who have been left on the sidelines because of the overwhelming number of immigrant children in classes.

Survey results show that one in five Muslims will never enter a non-Muslim house, and 39% say their wife should always obey her husband. Also, 31% of Muslims say that each man has the right to more than one wife, and 23% support the introduction of Sharia Law. It would seem that homosexuality is very high on the agenda, as 52% believe it should not be legal.

Phillips warns of “a life-and-death struggle for the soul of British Islam. Britain is in many ways a better place than it’s ever been—more prosperous, more diverse, more liberal. But for some of our fellow citizens, we’re heading in entirely the wrong direction. So much so that some of them would rather live under a wholly different system. Indeed, a significant minority of Britain’s three million Muslims consider us a nation of such low morals that they would rather live more separately from their non-Muslim countrymen, preferably under sharia law.” This sobering conclusion comes from the most comprehensive survey of British Muslims ever conducted.

Tony Blair The Trator

Tony Blair The Trator

This is the first time a politician has come out and said what we all think, and backed it up with facts. For many British people Tony Blair is the biggest traitor this country has ever had, for it was he alone who opened the doors to anyone who wanted to come here to satisfy his ‘Multi-Cultural Plan’ for Britain. When he opened the gates the Muslim immigrants poured through in the hundreds of thousands, and when you see what they have done to the country it is nothing short of a disgrace. Most Brits know that they have no interest in assimilating into our society, and do everything they can to stay apart from us by taking over whole boroughs and towns.

Muslim View On Homosexuality

Muslim View On Homosexuality

Further statistics show that 76% of prominent Muslims support jihad, 95% of respondents “strongly agreed” that “The Prophet Muhammad is the last and final prophet and messenger of God”. Also, Around 98% of Muslims agreed that “The Quran is the direct and unchanged revelation and word of God, sent down for the whole of humanity.” Islam can never be criticized or changed or improved in any way was “strongly agreed” to by 80% while another 10% “agreed”.  The right to attack the “oppressor” is obscured in flowery language, and with strong support at 84% strongly agreed and 8% who agree – taking the total approval level of combat to 92%.

So it is very clear that all the integration methods tried by governments and ‘do-gooders’ are a total waste of time, for we will never change the mindset of these people.

European Union Headquarters Bussels

European Union Headquarters Bussels

But this problem for Britain is far from over because now the E.U. is stepping into the fray. Right now they are working out plans to get an even tighter grip on the asylum system. The Eurocrats are utterly determined to extend their own powers and to take more control away from member states.

The EU’s border agency, revealed that a record 1.82million illegal border crossings were reported last year. Moreover attempts to register and track migrants and to remove those who are not eligible for asylum have been utterly shambolic (to be honest I think that is putting it mildly). The handling of this crisis is evidence that Brussels cannot be trusted with Europe’s borders or migration policy.

Two Choices - Which Would You Choose?

Two Choices – Which Would You Choose?

According to them, greater European integration is the answer to everything but the events in Britain prove this to be completely unattainable. With the million or so immigrants to Germany last year it is clear that it will suffer the same problems as the U.K. in the future. This is something Merkel just didn’t think of when she opened her big mouth and invited them all in.

There can be little doubt that the idiots in Brussels want to create an empire under the title of The United States of Europe, fully governed by them. Anyone who subscribes to this idea surely belongs in a mental institution.

Hungary Takes The Lead

Posted in Benefits, Britain, European Union, Germany, Immigrants, Islamic State, News, Politics, UK, United Nations with tags , , , , on 03/09/2015 by floroy1942
Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto

Recent reports show that Hungary is about to take a step that all European countries should take. Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto told reporters on Tuesday “We plan to register all migrants regardless of the fact that we are not the first member state they enter. We will register everyone who submits the request for asylum. If the decision is positive the refugee can stay, but if it is not positive we cannot give shelter to the economic migrants, we cannot bear that burden, so they will be returned where they come from.”

It is good to hear that finally one country has the balls to send economic migrants back where they came from. This is something I have advocated for some time, simply because Europe cannot sustain the hundreds of thousands who come here thinking we are a soft touch.

Mass Killing By ISIS Elements

Mass Killing By ISIS Elements

I agree that we should help those who are fleeing the barbarism of terror groups like Islamic State, the Taliban and Boko Haram, but a great majority are here purely for the perks. They know that once they get to settle in a country like Britain, Holland, Sweden, France or Germany for example, they will be cared for, housed, fed, and given whatever medical help they need.

On news reports you can see that more than half are single young men without a family, and you can bet your cotton socks that once they are accepted, their entire family will follow them. It is without a doubt true what Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto says, the more we let in the more will try to come here until the entire continent is totally overrun.

Here is what some of the general public think of the crisis:

Looking at the “migrants” shut out of the railway station in Budapest – they are not refugees, they are mostly all young men – not elderly, or women, or children that you might expect to be fleeing conflict, but young men who surely should be looking to fight for their country, not come to Europe to chant at and fight us!

Finally one country has the balls to refuse them entry and send them packing. Good on Ya Hungry. The rest of Europe watch and learn, this is what we the General Public and true Europeans have been wanting our Governments to show there strength and send them all packing back to where the came from!!!

Europe is becoming a ‘dumping ground’. for the worlds flotsam and jetsam and as their numbers continue increasing at an alarming rate so the countries of Europe will descend further and further into decline. Britain cannot absorb any more ‘economic passengers’ as they are already overloading our schools, hospitals and doctors surgeries. These people are not paying guests but are a drain on the DHSS, local housing and social services. They turn up with nothing in their pockets, put nothing into the economy and expect the British tax payers to keep them housed, fed and clothed. The government must stop treating these people like charitable organisations and do what Hungary are now doing and return them all back to where they came from.

If this migrant crisis continues it will break up the EU as already there is fighting among European leaders. The good news is we won’t be needing a referendum on whether or not we stay in Europe after all.

Fighting to Board A Train

Fighting to Board A Train

This just goes to show how ‘out of touch’ the politicians in Europe are with the people. Today (3/9) it appears that the government has at last opened up the Budapest railway station to the migrants who are now being allowed to travel on to Germany. Some have been stopped at the border and are intended to be housed in a refugee camp, but they have refused.

It is way past time that the E.U. started separating out the economic refugees from the genuine ones before the entire continent is overrun. All economic refugees should be sent back immediately, because if we continue to accept them the floodgates will be seen to be wide open and many more will come.

It is really a replay of what Tony Blair did to Britain with his ‘Multi-Cultural Britain’ Policy, but Europe-wide. I am of the opinion that if you trace all this back to its roots, Tony Blair must carry much of the blame for Europe’s current troubles because he set the precedent.

Europe is already struggling with the number of migrants that have been accepted, and Holland for one is a country that is about to toughen up its acceptance measures. The government is to cut off food supplies and shelter to all those who are not accepted as genuine refugees, i.e. economic refugees.

Mark Rutte

Mark Rutte

Failed asylum seekers will be given a ‘few weeks’ of help but after that they would then either be deported or sent away to fend for themselves. From November, the centre-right coalition of Prime Minister Mark Rutte, which competes for votes with the popular anti-immigration party of Geert Wilders, wants to close 30 regional “bed, bath and bread” shelters where asylum seekers have been able till now to get help on the basis of need.

The U.N.’s Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination added to outside criticism of the Dutch policy, saying basic needs of migrants should be provided unconditionally. “As long as they are in the Netherlands, they have to enjoy minimum standards of living,” said Ion Diaconu, who helped write the U.N. report. If that is the case why then is the United Nations not helping to solve the problem instead of sitting on its hands and doing nothing?

Rutte responded on Friday that it would be “crazy” to offer permanent shelter to people who refused to leave. “We are talking about the group that can go back, whose governments would take them back, but they don’t want to go back.”

Holland, one of the smallest countries in Europe is the eighth-largest destination for asylum seekers, accounting for 4 percent of total arrivals in 2014. Total applications last year rose 87 percent to 24,535. The country took in hundreds of thousands of migrants from Morocco and Turkey in the 1960s and 1970s before tightening its policy over the past decade.

Routes To Germany

Routes To Germany

Most migrants wish to enter Germany, Sweden or Denmark and many have been accepted, but there is a growing anti-immigration feeling in these countries as the numbers get bigger and bigger. Poll results given out today indicate that half the inhabitants of Germany are very worried about the number of refugees being accepted into the country.

There can be little doubt that some time in the very near future this swarm of migrants must be brought to a halt because the economy, the health services and housing problems are beginning to bite hard. Very soon the economy of the entire European continent will be in big trouble if we continue to accept and provide shelter, food and health care to these people.

There is only one answer to this entire problem. All the terrorist organizations like Islamic State and Boko Haram must be totally annihilated by an international effort so these people can return home. Otherwise Europe will drown in a sea of immigrants.

The people of Europe have had enough of this problem, and to see yet more tens of thousands arriving every month means eventually that the ‘kettle will boil over’ and there will be civil unrest on a scale not seen before. The politicians need to act now to curb the flow.

The Farage Debate

Posted in Britain, Elections, England, Equality, European Union, Human Rights, Immigration, News, Religion, UK with tags , , , , on 18/05/2014 by floroy1942

Much has been written about Nigel Farage and the UKIP Party, and many are saying that his party is racist, but are they? What is it that makes this man so attractive to the British people and so hated by those in Westminster? He has been lambasted in the press and now in a radio interview that has caught the public attention.

Nigel Farage In The Interview

Nigel Farage In The Interview

Of the interview itself, I believe the LBC presenter James O’Brien, was rude, overbearing, and so clearly biased that Mr. Farage had little chance to answer many of his questions. It was more like an assassination with words and the man obviously relished his task. It would seem much of the public also thought so.

James O'Brien

James O’Brien

The presenter tried to trap Farage when he mentioned that he felt ‘uncomfortable’ on a train in London when he didn’t hear a single conversation in English. O’Brien immediately jumped on that statement saying that Farage’s wife was German. To me this sounded like a very poor attempt at trying to put Farage in a bad light.

Here is a selection of public comments posted on news items on the subject: “This was very unprofessional interviewing – James O’Brien was rude and offensive, as well as being partial – surely not the best ingredients for presenting what should have been an open and interesting discourse.”“This O’Brien character is clearly a Marxist, this wasn’t an interview it was an interrogation, all it lacked was a bright reading lamp in Farage’s face.” From the evidence it would seem that Mr. O’Brien’s tactic did not work.

Some Immigrants Do Want To Learn English

Some Immigrants Do Want To Learn English

When all is said and done, I think Farage is quite correct in what he says. While many EU immigrants do take the trouble to learn English, most of those from outside the EU do not. You can go into areas of London, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham and Bradford among others, and not hear a word of English, and if you speak to someone all you get is a blank stare.

Typical Anti-UKIP press

Typical Anti-UKIP press

Nigel Farage has been continuously criticized in the press for his views on immigration, and many papers have openly branded him and his party racist. Most people know by now that this is influence from the major political parties and is a crude attempt to discredit UKIP because they are running scared. But racism, when you look at what the man stands for, nothing could be further from the truth, at least in my opinion. He is only saying out loud what most people are afraid of saying openly for fear of being branded a racist.

Firstly, UKIP want to get us out of Europe and once that is done, to put the brakes on uncontrolled immigration. Like most people I agree wholeheartedly with the latter, but to be honest I am not too sure about the Europe question.

Typical Town Street

Typical Town Street

It is very clear that something drastic needs to be done about the thousands of immigrants from both within and without the EU who pour into the UK weekly. As many commentators have already said, “As a country we are full!” In comparison to many European countries we are small, but we seem to be taking far more than our fair share of immigrants from across the world thanks to Tony Blair and his vision of a “Multi-Cultural Britain”.

Let me say clearly here that I have no objection to immigrants no matter where they come from, provided they are willing to fully integrate with us, respect our laws and traditions, work and learn our language. What I abhor is the current wave of people who come here and expect us to adapt to them as they move into towns and cities and turn them into the places they left behind.

Self Explanatory

Self Explanatory

In all fairness, I have to say that to a great extent the British people are just as much to blame for bending over backwards to accommodate these people. Too many Britons are willing to change the way we do things just to satisfy them, and the more we give them the more they will take from us.

Just About Says It All

Just About Says It All

Should UKIP get in, one of their first tasks should be to put all Human Rights and Racism nutters in their place. The Human Rights and Racism laws need to be rewritten so as not to be biased in favour of any particular grouping like immigrants.

Typical Muslim Demonstration On English Streets

Typical Muslim Demonstration On English Streets

Currently it is ridiculous that Muslim immigrants can do as they please, and if anyone objects they shout ‘Racist!’ and get away with it. Even our police cannot do anything about their arrogant anti-British demonstrations on the streets for fear of being branded racist.

Immigration Figures

Immigration Figures

Because of EU Regulations we are also forced to take many from other EU countries that come here. Admittedly most are looking for employment, but there are also those who take advantage of our give-away benefits system and send the money back home.

When you consider Europe and the EU I am not sure it would be good for the country to leave entirely. I believe that if we were to take that step we would be heading for economic hardship. It is true as many say that we do have customers for our manufacturing goods in other parts of the world, but I fear we could lose a large proportion of our GDP should many European countries stop trading with us if we leave.

What we must do is negotiate a Free Trade Agreement such as Norway and Switzerland have with the EU so that we do not lose that vital source of income.

London Financial Centre

London Financial Centre

Already some large international companies like Nissan have said they would move their factories to the mainland if we leave, and not only that, London is currently the financial capital of Europe, but that may also be in jeopardy if the big banks and companies move their headquarters to the European mainland.

Ukip Polling Results

Ukip Polling Results

For me the right path is to stay in the EU, but renounce the EU justice and immigration systems. Britain needs the power to maintain its own justice system, and make its own decisions on who can enter the country. Only then will we have proper justice that does not pamper to criminals and immigrants, and we can decide who comes into the country and who does not.

A Heartfelt Wish By Most Of The Population

A Heartfelt Wish By Most Of The Population

If we have a strong government that is not afraid to take the right decisions, we may make some headway in putting right all the harm Tony Blair and his cronies did to the United Kingdom. Whether Nigel Farage is the man to do this is for everyone to decide by themselves, for it is certain that Cameron does not seem to be up to the job, and if Labour get in again we will be far worse off than we are now.

Whatever Happens, Let's Keep The Flag Flying.

Whatever Happens, Let’s Keep The Flag Flying.

Whoever gets in at the next election, it will be a long and tough fight to get Britain back to what it once was, if that is even possible.

I hope the British people can come out of this crisis with heads held high, and say we have weathered the storm and are better off for it.

Britain, Barosso And The EU

Posted in Britain, Conservative Party, David Cameron, England, Europe, European Union, Germany, Human Rights, UK with tags , , , on 13/09/2013 by floroy1942
A Stinging Attack On Cameron's Proposed Vote

A Stinging Attack On Cameron’s Proposed Vote

I have for years had great respect for Jose Manuel Barosso as leader of the European Commission, but today that took quite a knock with reports of his latest address to the European Parliament. Aiming his remarks at The Conservative leader in the European Parliament, Martin Callanan, he said of his party (i.e. the Conservatives), “Your party and your group are looking like the UKIP and the Eurosceptic European group. And I start to have some doubts that you are going to be elected yourself in Britain, if it is not UKIP that is going to be the first force in the British elections”.

Nigel Farage - UKIP Leader

Nigel Farage – UKIP Leader

In a reaction to this statement Nigel Farage, leader of UKIP said,  “Mr Barroso is right to say that the only real EU debate is whether the UK leaves or stays in the EU, and not the unrealistic promises by David Cameron.”

This all stems from David Cameron’s attempt at persuading the EU to relinquish some of its powers back to Britain, and to be honest I see nothing wrong in that. The EU has pushed its nose into every corner of British life with such laws as the Human Rights Charter, Health and Safety Rules, the Social Chapter, immigration and many more. As an example, the long-standing British Justice System was brushed aside in favour of EU controls that have made a laughing stock of justice in this country.

The EU has been listening to too many crackpots who come up with ideas like the latest mandatory fitting of speed controls on all cars in EU countries governed by satellites that will apply the brakes as you pass a speed limit sign. Next some idiot will be saying you may only go to the toilet at certain times of the day!

See post https://floroy1942.wordpress.com/2013/09/03/so-the-eu-wants-to-limit-my-speed/

Michael Callanan - Leader Of The Conservative MEP's

Michael Callanan – Leader Of The Conservative MEP’s

The EU is responsible for many stupid laws and regulations that have bewildered much of the general public, and has resulted in people wondering at the intelligence levels of those that govern us from Brussels. I fully agree with David Cameron’s approach in trying to get back some of the powers we have lost, for I think it is preferable to leaving Europe altogether.

A documentary some time ago around one of this country’s MEP’s showed clearly that proposals are put before the Council for a vote and most of those voting have no idea what it is about, for they have not been given sufficient time to study it before voting it into legislation. It is reprehensible that members are required to vote blindly on legislation that they have not even read, not knowing if it is a good thing or bad. This not the way to run a Parliament for the entire Europe.

I believe that every country should be given the choice of accepting any proposals that come from Brussels, or not. It should not become mandatory law just because some jackass in Brussels thinks it is a good idea.

The European Court OF Human Rights

The European Court OF Human Rights

In principal, the idea of all European nations collaborating and having common ground is an excellent idea, but sad to say, this lofty achievement has been soured by draconian measures forced upon nations whether they like it or not. As an example, the European Court of Human Rights has trampled on the tried and tested British Justice System time and time again giving more consideration to the criminals rights than those of their victims. It is wrong and it makes a farce of the whole idea of a unified Europe.

If David Cameron is successful in regaining control of such things as our justice system then we should stay in the union, for the effects of leaving are a great unknown and could cause extreme economic hardship in the future.

Today (12/9/13)  The Times newspaper reported that the Japanese government has reacted to the possible exit of Britain from the EU by saying that many tens of thousands of jobs with Japanese companies in Britain could be “at risk”. These companies favour doing business in Britain due to its beneficial access to the European market, and if the vote is negative on membership, then these companies would quite possibly move to the mainland. It is certain that many other major international companies may well make the same judgement.

Also today, the Telegraph ran a story covering a survey that was conducted with both small and large companies in the UK. The results are overwhelmingly in favour of staying in the Union, for eight out of ten companies were sure leaving would cause damage to the British economy.  Their main concerns were that with the UK out of the European Union there would be less investment in Britain and it would affect access to trading markets. This I can readily accept because the rest of Europe are much less likely to do trade with the UK if it leaves, and turn inward to other Union members. Sir Mike Rake, the new president of the CBI, said that continued membership of the European Union is “overwhelmingly” in the UK’s economic interests.

All this international wrangling over Europe is unnecessary if those in Brussels take an intelligent look at what they are doing. It is well and good to try and harmonize laws, work practices and standards across the member states, but that is a far cry from some of the ridiculous laws that they have imposed on member countries like those I have described.

A Man With A Tough Job

A Man With A Tough Job

Britain is currently the only country with the ‘balls’ to step forward and say, “This is not right”. Naturally I cannot speak for other nations, but it seems to me there must be discontent at some of the measures imposed on everyone by Brussels. With regard to the cockamamie new regulations about speed mentioned earlier, I can never imagine that the German government will ever sign up to such a thing, for they have jealously guarded their lack of speed limits on the country’s motorways for decades. The government tried to introduce limits in line with all other European countries some years ago and that was roundly defeated.

In my opinion it is far better to stay in Europe and “change things from the inside” as Michael Gove said in a speech the other day, for to leave the Union altogether could be a disaster for British trade and foreign relations. I only hope brighter heads can steer the British public in the right direction before the vote in 2017, for if not, we may all suffer in the long term.

Is David Camerons’ Referendum Idea the Right Approach?

Posted in America, Britain, Conservative Party, David Cameron, Europe, Human Rights, Immigration, UK, USA with tags , , , on 24/01/2013 by floroy1942

Much has been reported recently about David Cameron, the British Prime Minister, saying he will hold a referendum on EU membership if re-elected in 2015. The question is; is this a good idea, and will the British people make the right decision? Various countries, media outlets and politicians are giving their opinion, but when it comes down to the wire it will be the general public who must decide the future of our country.

The White House

The Obama administration is already letting their dismay be known and that they are not in favour, saying Britain and the EU will be stronger together, and it has been hinted by some officials that any withdrawal by Britain from the EU could damage relations. The American government see the European Union as a strong military ally in the world, which is not surprising considering the Union’s involvement with America in the world’s trouble-spots. There is fear that the cooperation with America on military intervention, always so stoutly upheld by Britain, will be compromised.

India, and more particular China, have both expressed concern at the thought of Britain leaving the EU because of the massive amount of trade they both do with the Block. The European Union and Chine trade over £840 million per day and they see this as being grossly affected should Britain withdraw.

Abu Hamsa - Protected By The Human Rights Act

Abu Hamsa – Protected By The Human Rights Act

The main gripe the Brits have with Europe is the steady slide of more and more control slipping to Brussels and out of their hands. This is amply demonstrated by the total mess that our Judicial System is in because of interference from the politicians in Brussels. Since the introduction of the Immigration Laws, Human Rights Act and the Health and Safety Laws, which we are bound to follow, we have seen countless criminals getting away with murder because of some clause or other in the Human Rights Act such as Article Eight (the right to family life) which has been exploited by unscrupulous lawyers in Britain. You only have to look at the fact that it took the British Legal System 10 years to get rid of Abu Quatada, and we still haven’t been able to put Abu Hamsa on a plane to face terrorist charges in Jordan.

When it comes to the ‘elf & safety debacle, people have died because rescue services have been forced to follow nonsensical rules when it comes to saving people in distress. As for immigration, laws need to be rewritten so that it is no longer possible for one person to come in and be closely followed by his/her entire family, including uncles aunts, grandparents and grandchildren, all of whom live off the British taxpayer. We need to make sure when a man and his wife and children come in, it stops there! It needs to be made clear to immigrants that if they wish to settle in the UK they must learn the language, and there is a definite time limit to social welfare. In other words, get a job or get out!

Barroso - A Familiar Face

Barroso – A Familiar Face

The main problem with the EU is that with the exception of one or two well-known people like Jose Manuel Barroso, Europe is run by faceless individuals who are not answerable to the people. Does anyone from the general public know who represents our country in Brussels? I doubt that one in a thousand will know. The same problem exists in every European nation, and has led Brussels to be so far removed from the people they may as well be on the moon!

Abraham Lincoln said it better than anyone during his Gettysburg address when he pledged: “The government of the people, for the people, by the people”. It is this line from history that European politicians need to hinder, for to continue in the way they are could lead not only to Britain’s withdrawal, but to the breakup of the whole Union in time.

Open Borders

Open Borders

There are many many good things about the EU and the fact that so many countries can cooperate in the political and military spheres. It is wonderful to be able to travel across borders without all the customs and immigration checks, just as it is great not to have to change currency every time you cross a border. It is ideal that you can go and work in another country without all the hassle we used to have. There is no doubt that the benefits brought to us through EU integration have benefited our lives far more than those we have lost.

However, having said that, the areas outlined above plus a few more need to be relaxed. Judicial and Human Rights jurisdiction needs to be left to the nations and not dictated by Brussels. The national justice system must have a say in who goes to prison and who does not, and who gets extradited and who does not. Nations must decide the rights of its citizens, and the circumstances under which rescue services can save a life, not some faceless bureaucrat in Brussels.

There are of course many other areas of concern to the British people, as there must be in other European nations, but to list them all would turn this post into a book.

UK Exports By Year 1990 To 2006

UK Exports By Year 1990 To 2006

One other major concern that British voters must take into consideration when voting on such an issue is the economic impact. I have read recent reports proclaiming how Britain had most of its trade with Commonwealth nations before we joined the EU. Some seem to think that if we turn our back on Europe we can rekindle this relationship but I think they are dead wrong. Nations like Canada, Australia and New Zealand were suddenly ‘left in the lurch’ when Britain joined the EU and had to scramble to find alternative markets for their goods. These are now well established and it is unlikely Britain can replace its European trading partners with those of the Commonwealth again.

London has over the years become the financial hub of Europe with many major banks and companies having their headquarters in The City. If the British vote ‘No’ to Europe you can bet your last dollar there will be a mass exodus of these companies to somewhere like Berlin, Brussels, or even Amsterdam, and London will become a ghost of its former self. With so many empty office blocks in The City the economy of London will most likely collapse.

The City - Europe's Financial Centre

The City – Europe’s Financial Centre

The one fear I have is that if and when the referendum takes place, people will vote ‘No’ without thinking of the wider issues. The government cannot expect Mrs. Jones who lives at number 42 to have any idea of the economic consequences of leaving Europe.  It’s one thing to hate the interference from Brussels and shout that you want to be rid of them, but when you get down to the nitty gritty, such a move could spell economic disaster for the country.

It all hangs on how the referendum will be presented, and what questions will be asked of the public. If  the people are given a straight choice of  ‘in or out’ the backlash could be disastrous. On the other hand, if people are also asked which areas of control should be clawed back from Brussels, most will probably vote to stay in and give the government a firm indication of the changes the British want to see.

The British Prime Minister - David Cameron

The British Prime Minister – David Cameron

In my opinion, if the EU is to function as a cohesive element in the world countries have to be given back their national identity and not be told by the Brussels crowd the how, what and when of governing their own people. The politicians in Brussels should concern themselves with international politics, i.e. Europe as a whole, when communicating with the rest of the world.

I believe that the Prime Minster is firmly on the right track, but whatever happens, it is essential that David Cameron gives the general public a full understanding of what is at stake in the referendum.

The Benefits For Foreigners Scandal

Posted in Benefits, Britain, Conservative Party, David Cameron, England, Europe, Government Spending, Human Rights, Immigrants, Liberal Party, Nick Clegg, Parliament, UK with tags , , , , on 30/09/2011 by floroy1942

When you think of government benefits like Children’s/Job Seekers Allowance, one would automatically think of looking after your own first, i.e. people who contribute to the system through taxes.

Benefit Britain - Welcome!

Unfortunately this is not always so, for apart from the previous Labour government opening the immigration doors to every Tom, Dick or Harry who wanted to take advantage of Britain’s generous system, we now have to contend with EU Commission meddling. Britain has, it seems, been criticised for not paying benefits to all EU nationals who cross our border!

Britain currently assesses EU nationals under the ‘Right to Reside’ policy which is not applied to British nationals. Obvious really!  According to Ian Duncan Smith, the Work and Pensions Secretary, the new rules being forced on Britain by the Commission would “mean the British taxpayer paying out over £2bn extra a year in benefits to people who have no connection to our country and who have never paid in a penny in tax.” To me this is scandelous!

Ian Duncan Smith

He continued:”As if this week’s decision was not bad enough, we are also fighting increasing demands for the UK to pay benefits to those who have long since moved abroad, and who may never have made more than a token contribution to UK society.” The logic of this would baffle anyone. Why should Britain pay benefits to someone who has left the country? It would seem that the idea of some nutcase in the EU, is anyone can come to Britain for a two week holiday and receive benefits for the rest of their life when they return home!

Employment minister Chris Grayling is quoted as saying: the move could “open our doors to benefit tourism”. To be honest, I think his statement is a few years late, because Labour did that years ago with the immigrants!

Keep Your Noses Out Of Britain!

Another disheartening factor is that Britain is being ‘hung out to dry’ by some ‘holier than thou’ individuals in the EU when Britain already has the largest benefits bill of any EU country! Try going to Romania, Hungary, Italy or Spain and get the level of benefits available in Britain, or for that matter any benefits! You will be told politely, at first, to remove yourself from the office by some individual with a wide smirk on his face while his companions roar with laughter in the background. Come to England and the first question is “How much do you want?”

In my opinion, the government should tell the EU Commision to ‘go jump in the lake’ (I’m being polite) and ignore the whole stupid idea!
