I Just Can’t Believe This – Boy’s In Skirts?

Boys In Skirts?

Can you imagine boys going to school in skirts? It would appear that this is the latest new trend in North London’s Highgate Private School! Its all about being ‘gender neutral’, and the school authorities have initiated the idea of allowing boys to wear skirts to school if they so desire.

Girls can already wear a grey pleated skirt or trousers but the boys are restricted to wearing trousers and have to wait until they are sixteen before even adorning themselves with earrings.

Adam Pettitt, headmaster at the school said, “This generation is really questioning [if we are] being binary in the way we look at things. He said some former pupils had complained about the changes. “They write in and say if you left children to their own devices they would grow up differently and you are promoting the wrong ideas,”

Well, I certainly agree with that for allowing boys to wear skirts would ensure they grow up to be homosexuals.

The school already allows children to request that staff address them by a name of the opposite gender, which around half a dozen have done. One boy has also been allowed to wear a dress to school. Can you imagine a boy wearing a dress to school? It is too ridiculous for words!

Its about time this gender idea was knocked on the head, for in my time boys never got the idea that they were feminine. The LGBT crowd have been given far too much freedom these days and pretty soon the world will be filled with them. As you can imagine from this blog, I don’t like homosexuals and lesbians etc. I remember well when I was in Amsterdam seeing men strolling around holding hands and often kissing on the streets. It was disgusting.

I well remember when I went to a friend’s wedding in Biarritz in France. A gang of us went out after the wedding on the town, and late at night we ended up in a ‘gay’ bar. When we went inside we saw men kissing and fondling each other like crazy. It was disgusting to say the least. I kept my backside against the wall for the whole time we were in there.

There are many people these days who accept readily the idea of ‘gays’ but I am afraid I do not. Many people turn up at ‘gay parades’ to watch men dancing around practically naked, in fact some of them are naked.

I have to say that the world is going crazy these days and I am glad I am old, for I do not wish to live in a society that is flooded with these strange men and women.

Brexit – The Aftermath

Posted in America, Benefits, Britain, English Schools, European Union, Human Rights, Immigrants, News, Police, Teens with tags , , , , on 25/06/2016 by floroy1942

Criticism is being hurled about by all and sundry after the result of the Brexit vote was made known, and I for one think that people should calm down and wait and see what develops.

Its’s no good going off at half-cock just because everyone did not agree with your vote. I agree, the results were close but those who voted to remain must take a step back and see what comes out of this referendum.

London

London – The City

In London it seems that half a million people have demanded a rerun of the vote because it did not go their way, but why should we? Some may be afraid for their jobs in The City, but I doubt very much that thousands of jobs will be lost because banks and international companies are going to move out of the U.K., for that would be very very expensive, and they will lose all of their experienced staff.

No-one has any idea of the agreements that will be made with the E.U. after the babble has died down. Negotiations will be entered into in the coming months, and it would seem to me that most companies will stay right where they are if the right agreements are obtained. All this panic may well be for nothing.

European Union

European Union

As to the ludicrous idea of London declaring ‘independence’ from the rest of the country, that is the most stupid thing I have heard in years. Which idiot came up with that idea? Do the people of London honestly believe that it can still be a part of the European Union while the rest of the country is not! Come on people! Get a grip and start thinking sensibly!

There can be little doubt that once the initial furor has died down and sensible minds begin negotiating with the rest of the E.U., there will be agreements made that will satisfy all sides. This is just as much in the interests of E.U. countries as it is for Britain. There is no point in going off half-cocked.

I am well aware of the ‘hateful’ rhetoric that is coming from some E.U. politicians at the result, but that is nothing more than reaction to the fact they lost. Later, in proper negotiations cooler heads will rule.

From reading news items it seems that most of our young people voted to stay in, but they are not as wise yet as the old folks. Many of us older folks can look forward to what will happen with the European Union, we don’t just think of the ‘here and now’.

Un-elected Leaders

Un-elected Leaders

What most of the younger members of our society do not realize is that we are heading for the ‘United States of Europe’ under the complete control of those idiots in Brussels. Eventually our own government will be put out of a job and we will all be following dictates from Brussels. Don’t forget that not one of our E.U. leaders has actually been voted into office by the populace.

BananasAs a young person would you really want to dictate to all of Europe that bananas must be a certain shape and size, and that cabbages must be round. These are to give you an idea of the stupid rules that Brussels tried to pass on to Europe some time back. Why is the shape of bananas and cabbages so important, answer me that! These are but two examples of what those fools in Brussels have done, so do you think they will be capable of running 28 countries with different traditions and way of life? If we stayed in this is what we would be heading for, the country being run by idiots who have no idea of British values.

As a further example, look what the Human Rights fools have done to our Justice system. Nowadays, you can murder someone and get no more than three or four years in prison, despite being sentenced to twenty or thirty years in the courts.

Our prisons are full to overflowing with foreign criminals, mostly Muslim, yet we can’t deport them. Hell! We can’t even deport those who came into the country illegally.

We have no control over immigrants coming into the country, despite what Cameron said about restricting entry to 100,000 a year. They are still flooding in, and what are they looking for? Benefits!

Old Age Pensioner In The Cold

Old Age Pensioner In The Cold

Our own old people have to choose between eating and staying warm in the winter because we cannot afford to help them. Sadly, many of them die in loneliness. In the meantime immigrants are taking home huge sums of tax payers money because they have ten children, a father, mother, uncle, aunt and grandparents to feed. Please don’t try to convince me that this is the right thing to do! We should be taking care of our own first, not molly coddling those who come here for benefits.

What about all the changes that Muslim immigrants are making to the fabric of this nation. In some areas our children cannot get a decent education because more than half of the class only speak Arabic and our youngsters are the ones that suffer the consequences. In Bradford, Birmingham and many other cities, the Muslims have tried to take over our schools and ignore the plight of English children who are there to learn.

They form ghettos in our cities and towns where you hear nothing but Arabic. They make no attempt whatsoever to learn the language of this country or respect our way of life.

We have to put up with Muslim demonstrators on the streets of our cities and towns carrying placards that ‘Islam Will Rule The World” or “Death To The Infidels”. Is this what all those who deny Brexit want, for it will flourish until we cannot stop it.

On top of that we have Muslims raping women and small children at will because the Qu’ran says they can. They sell our young children into sex slavery whenever they please and the police do nothing because they have been told “We should not upset the Muslims”! If you demonstrate on the streets anywhere against immigration you will immediately be arrested and charged, but if the Muslims do it they are given a police escort!!!

There can be little doubt that we must get back control of our country, and Brexit is the only way to do it. So before you start demonstrating and signing petitions think about these few points I have mentioned.

Raising A Generation Of Whimps!

Cheltenham Ladies' College

Cheltenham Ladies’ College

I could hardly believe what I was reading when a news report said that Cheltenham Ladies’ College, a girls school in Cheltenham, was considering dropping homework for students over the next five years because it was causing them depression. Instead they would get weekly meditation classes.

I have always maintained that if you pay proper attention in school, instead of, for example, writing text messages under the desk, you will learn all you need to learn. But, I do have to say that teachers today leave a lot to be desired in their methods. In my day, if you didn’t understand something you held up your hand and the teacher would explain until it was as clear as glass. Nowadays, many teachers don’t take the time to explain things to those pupils who don’t fully understand, and that is presuming they know enough about their subject to be able to.

Sir Anthony Seldon, Headmaster At Wellington College In Berkshire

Sir Anthony Seldon, Headmaster At Wellington College In Berkshire

Sir Anthony Seldon, headmaster at Wellington College in Berkshire, said in an interview that “mental health is a massive problem in Britain in schools and universities”. He said it was good the school was doing something about the problem, but doubted if banishing homework was the answer. He went on, “Life is stressful. Adult life is stressful, so unless we teach them to cope with that we’re not going to prepare them to cope in the adult world. That’s what schools are about – helping children learn to become adults, to learn to take responsibility themselves, rather than pampering young people.” Oh how right you are Sir!

Many people today are unable to handle even a little stress, and that is mostly due to their upbringing, or more likely, lack of it. Most children today are spoiled rotten by their parents, but when they get introduced to life’s problems they have no clue on how to handle it, and before anyone mentions it, I know there are exceptions, but the majority of youth can’t handle real life when they grow up because they have not been shown how to.

Depression

Depression

The main problem with kids today is that they get everything handed to them on a plate. When they cannot get what they want, like a laptop or the latest mobile phone they sulk and get depressed. Most often they cry  “All my friends have one. Why can’t I?” This philosophy has many drawbacks, for firstly it does not teach them the value of anything, and secondly can cause the deep depression that so often leads to drugs, and/or alcohol abuse.

Headteacher Eve Jardine-Young of the Cheltenham School said the average age at which depression was first diagnosed had fallen from 29 in the 1960s to 15-and-a-half early this century. She said, “What we’ve been reflecting on a lot in the last few years are the big national trends and international trends in the worsening states of adolescent mental health. We’ve created this epidemic of anxiety for ourselves as a society, and if our obligation as educators is to try to the best of our ability to set young people up as best we can for whatever the future may hold, then to ignore this whole area or to trivialize it is really irresponsible.”

This Is No Way To Escape Facing Real Life

Binge-Drinking – This Is No Way To Escape Facing Real Life

Personally, I doubt that stopping homework is going to cure the problem, for all it will do is make these youngsters less likely to use their brains and increase their desire for ‘an easy life’. Young people today have no idea whatsoever of what they will have to face when they eventually leave school and have to work for a living.

This is one reason for the drug epidemic we have today. Instead of having the mental strength to face what life throws at us they turn to the only escape they know, drugs, or in many other cases, alcohol. Go through many towns and cities in Britain on a Friday or Saturday night, and you will find many teens comatose on the pavement or getting into a fight on the streets. For them alcohol is an escape from the problems of living in today’s society, but in the long term it does not help.

Teachers Need To Interact More With Their Pupils

Teachers Need To Interact More With Their Pupils

As a parent it is your responsibility to educate your children in such a way that they can understand that life does not hand them everything they wish for. Naturally the schools are part of this process, for children need to know that they must work hard to get what they want, and it begins with a good education. Teachers must be able to spot those having trouble with the lesson material and do all they can to make them understand.

If the children/teenagers are getting depressed because they cannot handle homework then the answer is not to stop it, but to make them understand that it is an essential part of their education. It will make them think, and use their brains to come up with the correct answers.

Life As A Teen Is One Big Party - But Wait Until The Crunch Comes!

Life As A Teen Is One Big Party – But Wait Until The Crunch Comes!

If I went to work and was feeling somewhat depressed I would not expect my boss to say, “It’s OK Roy. Take a couple of days off until you feel better!” Ha! Fat chance of that happening. Life today is full of pitfalls and traps that can cause people to feel insecure, but you must have the mental strength to overcome these problems and move on. Something today’s generation seems to be lacking.

The sad thing is, as we move forward in time and these youngsters have children of their own, the problem will get even worse because they will have no idea on how to handle such a situation with their own children because their parents let them down.

It's Time For Parents To Take An Active Interest In Their Children

It’s Time For Parents To Take An Active Interest In Their Children

If you wish to bring a new life into the world then you must be prepared to guide them as they grow up, and teach them that life is not the proverbial ‘bowl of cherries’ by preparing them for the hardships of becoming an adult. Teach them to recognize right from wrong, teach them that to get anywhere in today’s world you must have knowledge and be ready to work hard. Most of all, teach them that drugs and alcohol are not an escape from life’s problems.

I think that unless something drastic is done to educate our children in the correct way, and prepare them properly for adulthood, we are headed for major problems in the future. May God help us all.

A Muslim’s View Of Muslims – And It Explains A Lot!

Posted in America, Britain, European Union, Iran, Israel, Modern World, Muslim, News, Pakistan, Religion with tags , , , , on 25/05/2015 by floroy1942

I came across this in my e-mail folder yesterday and thought to pass it on because it explains an awful lot about Muslims and their behaviour. It sheds light on why they are so close-minded, and why they behave the way they do. After reading this it was like someone switched on a light when you try to understand the Muslim mind. In his comparisons the writer opens up a whole host of knowledge that I certainly did not know, and I suspect that you will not either.

It was written by Farrukh Saleem PhD who is a Muslim political scientist and economic theorist, financial analyst, writer and television personality. He was born in Pakistan and educated in The United States, and after investing in the New York Stock Exchange he began writing for various newspapers before returning to Pakistan where he became a writer for such newspapers as The News International, Pakistan’s largest English-language daily newspaper among others.

He has often written about the Jews and Israel, and in this recent article, published in the Muslim Times in 2013, Saleem advocates directing a friendly foreign policy towards Israel. When he draws comparisons between Muslims and Jews, he explains that the main Muslim problem is a failure to pass on knowledge:

Why are Jews so powerful? There are only 14 million Jews in the world; seven million in the Americas, five million in Asia, two million in Europe and 100,000 in Africa. For every single Jew in the world there are 100 Muslims. Yet, Jews are more than a hundred times more powerful than all the Muslims put together. Ever wondered why?

Jesus of Nazareth was Jewish. Albert Einstein, the most influential scientist of all time and TIME magazine’s ‘Person of the Century’, was a Jew. Sigmund Freud, the father of psychoanalysis was a Jew. So were Karl Marx, Paul Samuelson and Milton Friedman.

Here are a few other Jews whose intellectual output has enriched the whole humanity: Benjamin Rubin gave humanity the vaccinating needle. Jonas Salk developed the first polio vaccine. Albert Sabin developed the improved live polio vaccine. Gertrude Elion gave us a leukaemia fighting drug. Baruch Blumberg developed the vaccination for Hepatitis B. Paul Ehrlich discovered a treatment for syphilis. Elie Metchnikoff won a Nobel Prize in infectious diseases. Bernard Katz won a Nobel Prize in neuromuscular transmission. Andrew Schally won a Nobel in endocrinology. Aaron Beck founded Cognitive Therapy. Gregory Pincus developed the first oral contraceptive pill. George Wald won a Nobel for our understanding of the human eye. Stanley Cohen won a Nobel in embryology. Willem Kolff came up with the kidney dialysis machine.

Over the past 105 years, 14 million Jews have won 15-dozen Nobel Prizes while only three Nobel Prizes have been won by 1.4 billion Muslims (other than Peace Prizes for Arafat). Why are Jews so powerful? Stanley Mezor invented the first micro-processing chip. Leo Szilard developed the first nuclear chain reactor; Peter Schultz, optical fibre cable; Charles Adler, traffic lights; Benno Strauss, stainless steel; Isador Kisee, sound movies; Emile Berliner, telephone microphone; Charles Ginsburg, videotape recorder.

Famous financiers in the business world who belong to Jewish faith include Ralph Lauren (Polo), Levis Strauss (Levi’s Jeans), Howard Schultz (Starbuck’s), Sergey Brin (Google), Michael Dell (Dell Computers), Larry Ellison (Oracle), Donna Karan (DKNY), Irv Robbins (Baskins & Robbins) and Bill Rosenberg (Dunkin Donuts). Richard Levin, President of Yale University, is a Jew. So are Henry Kissinger (American Secretary of State), Alan Greenspan (Fed. Chairman under Reagan, Bush, Clinton and Bush), Joseph Lieberman (US Senator), Madeleine Albright (American Secretary of State), Casper Weinberger (American Secretary of Defence), Maxim Litvinov (USSR Foreign Minister), David Marshal ( Singapore’s First Chief Minister), Issac Isaacs (Governor-General of Australia), Benjamin Disraeli (British statesman and author), Yevgeny Primakov (Russian PM), Barry Goldwater (US Senator), Jorge Sampaio (President of Portugal), John Deutsch (CIA Director), Herb Gray (Canadian Deputy PM), Pierre Mendes (French PM), Michael Howard (British Home Secretary), Bruno Kreisky (Chancellor of Austria ) and Robert Rubin (American Secretary of Treasury).

In the media, famous Jews include Wolf Blitzer (CNN), Barbara Walters (ABC News), Eugene Meyer (Washington Post), Henry Grunwald (editor-in-chief of Time Magazine), Katherine Graham (publisher of The Washington Post), Joseph Lelyveld (Executive editor, The New York Times), and Max Frankel (New York Times).

The most beneficent philanthropist in the history of the world is George Soros, a Jew, who has so far donated a colossal $4 billion most of which has gone as aid to scientists and universities around the world. Second to George Soros is Walter Annenberg, another Jew, who has built a hundred libraries by donating an estimated $2 billion.

At the Olympics, Mark Spitz set a record of sorts by winning seven gold medals; Lenny Krayzelburg is a three-time Olympic gold medallist. Spitz, Krayzelburg and Boris Becker (Tennis) are all Jewish.

Did you know that Harrison Ford, George Burns, Tony Curtis, Charles Bronson, Sandra Bullock, Billy Crystal, Woody Allen, Paul Newman, Peter Sellers, Dustin Hoffman, Michael Douglas, Ben Kingsley, Kirk Douglas, Goldie Hawn, Cary Grant, William Shatner, Jerry Lewis and Peter Falk are all Jewish?

As a matter of fact, Hollywood itself was founded by a Jew. Among directors and producers, Steven Spielberg, Mel Brooks, Oliver Stone, Aaron Spelling (Beverly Hills 90210), Neil Simon (The Odd Couple), Andrew Vaina (Rambo 1/2/3), Michael Man (Starsky and Hutch), Milos Forman (One flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest), Douglas Fairbanks (The Thief of Baghdad ) and Ivan Reitman (Ghostbusters) are all Jewish.

So, why are Jews so powerful? Answer : EDUCATION

Why are Muslims so powerless? There are an estimated 1,476,233,470 Muslims on the face of the planet: one billion in Asia, 400 million in Africa, 44 million in Europe and six million in the Americas. Every fifth human being is a Muslim; for every single Hindu there are two Muslims, for every Buddhist there are two Muslims and for every Jew there are one hundred Muslims.

Ever wondered why Muslims are so powerless? Here is why: There are 57 member-countries of the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC), and all of them put together have around 500 universities; one university for every three million Muslims. The United States has 5,758 universities and India has 8,407. In 2004, Shanghai Jiao Tong University compiled an ‘Academic Ranking of World Universities’, and intriguingly, not one university from Muslim-majority states was in the top-500.

As per data collected by the UNDP, literacy in the Christian world stands at nearly 90 per cent and 15 Christian-majority states have a literacy rate of 100 per cent. A Muslim-majority state, as a sharp contrast, has an average literacy rate of around 40 per cent and there is no Muslim-majority state with a literacy rate of 100 per cent. Some 98 per cent of the ‘literates’ in the Christian world had completed primary school, while less than 50 per cent of the ‘literates’ in the Muslim world did the same. Around 40 per cent of the ‘literates’ in the Christian world attended university while no more than two per cent of the ‘literates’ in the Muslim world did the same. Muslim-majority countries have 230 scientists per one million Muslims. The US has 4,000 scientists per million and Japan has 5,000 per million. In the entire Arab world, the total number of full-time researchers is 35,000 and there are only 50 technicians per one million Arabs. (in the Christian world there are up to 1,000 technicians per one million). Furthermore, the Muslim world spends 0.2 per cent of its GDP on research and development, while the Christian world spends around five per cent of its GDP. Conclusion: The Muslim world lacks the capacity to produce knowledge!

Daily newspapers per 1,000 people and number of book titles per million are two indicators of whether knowledge is being diffused in a society. In Pakistan, there are 23 daily newspapers per 1,000 Pakistanis while the same ratio in Singapore is 360. In the UK, the number of book titles per million stands at 2,000 while the same in Egypt is 20. Conclusion: The Muslim world is failing to diffuse knowledge.

Exports of high technology products as a percentage of total exports are an important indicator of knowledge application. Pakistan’s export of high technology products as a percentage of total exports stands at one per cent. The same for Saudi Arabia is 0.3 per cent; Kuwait, Morocco, and Algeria are all at 0.3 per cent, while Singapore is at 58 per cent. Conclusion: The Muslim world is failing to apply knowledge.

Why are Muslims powerless.? …..Because we aren’t producing knowledge,…..Because we aren’t diffusing knowledge.,…..Because we aren’t applying knowledge. And, the future belongs to knowledge-based societies .

Interestingly, the combined annual GDP of 57 OIC-countries is under $2 trillion. America, just by herself, produces goods and services worth $12 trillion; China $8 trillion, Japan $3.8 trillion and Germany $2.4 trillion (purchasing power parity basis). Oil rich Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait and Qatar collectively produce goods and services (mostly oil) worth $500 billion; Spain alone produces goods and services worth over $1 trillion, Catholic Poland $489 billion and Buddhist Thailand $545 billion. ….. (Muslim GDP as a percentage of world GDP is fast declining). So, why are Muslims so powerless? Answer: Lack of education. All we do is shout to Allah the whole day! And blame everyone else for our multiple failures!

I guess that when you look at it this way, it does explain a lot of the problems with the Muslim world. Having viewed the points put forward by Farrukh Saleem I can find no fault with his logic. He is obviously a learned man who understands the Muslim world very well and everything he puts forward makes sense. No race can advance in today’s world without a certain level of education. A fact that is becoming more obvious as time goes by, and we see the changes that are being made in our daily lives with more and more technology.

Ferguson Aftermath

Posted in America, England, Equality, Justice, News, Police Complaints, Relationships, Teen Violence, Theft, USA with tags , , , on 06/01/2015 by floroy1942

Finally the fury following the police shooting of an unarmed black thief in Ferguson and the following deaths of unarmed blacks in Utah and New York have died down, and life is for the most part returning to normal. But since those events some interesting facts have come to light.

Some NYPD Officers Turn Their Back As The Mayor Speaks.

Some NYPD Officers Turn Their Back As The Mayor Speaks.

Chief among them was the ‘revenge’ killing of two New York police officers as they sat in their car. During one of the funerals last weekend it was notable that many of the police officers turned their back on the Mayor as he was giving his address to the gathered mourners.

Black Gang

Black Gang

This entire episode of the last five months has brought to the surface the deep antagonism between the black population of America and its white citizens. For their part the black population, especially in the more deprived areas, seem to be of the opinion that life owes them something, and this also true of the Hispanic populations as well.

For these people the idea of getting a good education and a job are foreign because they think there are easier ways of making a living, and that usually involves crime. Just take a look at the following:

2010 American Crime Statistics

2010/12 American Crime Statistics

When you read the above statistics it sheds light on one of the reasons why there is so much distrust of blacks in America, because they account for by far the largest proportion of crime, be it drugs, rape, robbery or murder.

They Did It - Why Can't You!

They Did It – Why Can’t You!

What these people need to learn is that if you want to make something of your life you have to work at it, i.e. integrate, get an education and then a job. Always try to get higher up the ladder by improving, rather than sit on your heels and expect someone to give you everything you need. The important thing to remember is that you have to do it yourself, for there are no ‘free rides’ in today’s society.

To a great extent a lot of the blame must fall on the parents, because they are the guiding light for any child growing up. If they have the will to push their children to make something of themselves despite their own failures, we would see more integration between the different communities in America. The following picture tells a lot about the attitude of parents to their children and crime:

A Black Parents View Of Black Crime

A Black Parents View Of Black Crime

From the looks of the placard held by this father, robbing a store is part of everyday life and I guess for some that’s true. It is a police officers sworn duty to uphold the law, so what do these people think he should do when a black teenager runs out of a shop with a gun in his hand after robbing the place? The teenager is certainly not going to put his gun down and allow the police officer to arrest him. So the inevitable happens.

Corner Stone Of A Strong Country

Intergration – Corner Stone Of A Strong Country

If the black population decided together to leave the ghetto’s and fully integrate with the white population who knows what could be achieved. It is certain that to begin with the road would be difficult for their will still be the basic distrust among the white citizens for the black man, but by hard work and advancement this could eventually be overcome.

If the black population really want to integrate there is no real reason why America should not have a true black or Hispanic President at sometime in the future, if that person has made the effort to improve him/herself sufficiently.

All Americans need to understand that to move forward together, they have to work together, for it is only in this way that the country can fully prosper.

Race hatred is a bad thing, but like it or not, we all share the same planet and must learn to live with one another.

The Quagmire Of Our Education System

Posted in Britain, Child Discipline, Children, Christianity, England, English Schools, Immigrants, News, Palestine, UK with tags , , , , on 01/05/2014 by floroy1942

For centuries the British education system has been faith based, which is not surprising in a Christian country, but is it time to put an end to this system? In years gone by we were all Christians and the idea of educating our children in this way was perfectly acceptable. Now however, times have changed for the worse and we are a collection of different faiths living under the same roof.

British Christian School

British Christian School

After Tony Blair’s savage destruction of everything British with his ‘open door’ immigration policy, we have degenerated into a mix of many religions but still hang on to Christian schools in our education system.

By far the biggest problem is that of Muslim immigrants who do not want to send their children to a Christian school, and when you consider it carefully, this is perfectly understandable. Parents do not want their children educated within a system that upholds the Christian religion anymore than a Christian family wants to send their offspring to a Muslim school. Another non-Christian section among us is the Hindu people, which in fact prompted this post.

Religious Affiliation In Britain

Religious Affiliation In Britain

Plans are afoot to build the first all-Hindu secondary modern school in England, which if it goes ahead, will be built in Harrow. From this initial act I can see the country will soon be infested with schools based on many different faiths. The big question is, should we accept this? Is there not a better way?

It is widespread knowledge that in towns and cities like Birmingham, Manchester and Bradford, the Muslims are making an underhand effort to take over Christian schools. They are doing this by blackening the reputation of head teachers and staff in order to install their own after their dismissal. They are then turning them into places of learning based on the Islamic faith. Should this succeed, Christian children will be educated on Muslim principles which are far removed from those of Christians. It must be said that no such allegations have been made against any other faith.

Muslim Take-Over Of British Schools

Muslim Take-Over Of British Schools

The country is littered with Islamic schools in towns and cities with a high percentage of Muslim residents. To be fair, you have to admit that Muslim children have a right to be educated in the Islamic tradition despite what you think of the religion itself. The same goes for Hindu’s and any other popular faith.

Muslim Faith School

Muslim Faith School

This dilemma is causing chaos within the education system as a whole despite the fact that all cultures are expected to integrate into the British way of life when they come here. Many will say “This is Britain and you either adapt or you should leave” but that is just not happening. Many immigrants have a good life here and will never return to their homeland. For many their existence here is paid for by the British tax payer so why should they.

There are several ways to solve this problem. The government can say that all children take what is on offer and leave it at that, we can segregate the different religions and allow different faith schools as with the Hindu proposal to spring up all over the country, or we can change the education system itself to accommodate the different religions by making it non-religious. Whichever way it goes it will be expensive and require huge reorganization.

Falling Church Attendance

Falling Church Attendance

Many people in Britain today claim to be either agnostic or atheist which is a shame, for to have no religion at all means there are no bounds set to behavior. Whether you believe in God or not, to be raised following the Christian faith teaches us all how to behave in society, to have respect for others, basic honesty and to be compassionate with those less fortunate. With the decline of Christian values in our society today we have to a great extent become selfish and greedy with little or no respect for anything or anyone. This is particularly noticeable today in the younger generations.

For this reason, the idea of having schools founded on Christian principles in the past has been a good thing. However, since the religious lessons have been eradicated from the curriculum generations have floundered, for they have not been taught the fundamental basics of being a good person, least of all by their parents.

Tony Blair - Britain's Version Of Satan!

Tony Blair – Britain’s Version Of Satan!

Lionel Blair’s multi-cultural Britain has not turned out to be the ‘dream society’ he may have thought it would be, but there again, the cynics among us are convinced he only did it in an attempt to keep Labour at the helm of the country, counting on the immigrant vote at election time. Whatever his reason, the country is in the mire up to its chin (and I kept that clean) and to be honest there seems little chance of the old Britain ever returning.

Perhaps it might be necessary for representatives of the major religions in the country to sit around the table and set a system of education that does not favour one or the other, but still teaches children what is required i.e maths, English (they all live in England) science, geography etc.. It is time we adapt to what we have, and someone soon is going to have to make the tough decisions before we sink totally in the quagmire.

An American’s View Of America – An Astonishing Eye-opener!

We are often hearing from American’s that they belong to the greatest country on Earth, and from their point of view that may be true, but to hear an American tell the opposite is something you will hear seldom.

Jeff Daniels - A Man With A View.

Jeff Daniels – A Man With A View.

I received the following clip through the e-mail a week ago and thought it might interest a few people. The remarks were made by actor, musician and playwright Jeff Daniels at a college seminar I believe.

When the panel was asked by a student if they thought America was the greatest nation on Earth, his reply resulted in a stunned silence from not only the audience, but also the other two panel members, for several minutes while they stared at him with open mouths.

It is beyond doubt worth watching even just for the audience reaction to what he said. Whether you agree with him or not I leave up to you:

Roy.

Recent information suggests this is a scene from a TV series called ‘The Newsroom’ starring Jeff Daniels.  I have no way of verifying this, but either way, it does open up the possibility for wide-ranging discussion and you may make up your own mind on his views.

First Essential Change To The British Education System?

Posted in Britain, Children, England, English Schools, Europe, Parenting, Primary Education, Teens, UK with tags , on 10/06/2012 by floroy1942

Finally, it appears the government is implementing mandatory foreign languages lessons into the primary school national curriculum in Britain. For many decades the British people have been way behind the rest of Europe in learning languages, and maybe that is because of the “everyone abroad speaks English so why bother” syndrome, or just plain laziness. Either way its a national scandal that the British make little or no effort to learn the languages of our European partners.

For many decades, countries like Germany, Holland, Denmark and many others have taught English as part of the national curriculum, and that is to their credit, so I have been surprised that successive governments in the UK have not followed suit.

Finally On The Right Track

In an age where people can travel all over Europe, or even the world on holiday at least, learning a foreign language or two is essential. For this reason, I for one welcome the change that is being initiated by David Cameron and his government. Michael Gove, the Education Secretary, has said that primary schools could offer lessons in Mandarin, Latin and Greek, as well as French, German and Spanish from September 2014.

While I applaud the basic idea, I am afraid I cannot see the point in teaching Mandarin, Latin or Greek. You will only use Mandarin if you travel to China and one or two other Far Eastern countries, or wish to order a meal in a Chinese restaurant. Latin would only be useful if you enter the medical or science professions. French, German and Spanish are by far the most useful languages for all children to learn. You know the old saying: “Use it or lose it” and that is  very fair statement. The chances of the average UK child using Mandarin and Latin are infinitesimal while Greek may be used on holiday, although outside Greece no-one speaks it. French, German and Spanish are by far the better alternatives.

Another improvement is the testing of children’s spelling, grammar and punctuation, which again is an essential move. With more and more people these days relying on computer ‘spell-checkers’, it becomes rapidly apparent that such a move is necessary.  You only have to read some of the comments sent in by people to internet news pages to realize that the situation is becoming deplorable.

English Primary School

Unfortunately, this last move is being strongly opposed by head teachers who say “The tests are a waste of taxpayer’s money”. Poppycock!!! The general opinion among teachers seems to be that the assessment and testing of children on these subjects is best left to them. Sorry, but the evidence of the past few decades couldn’t indicate more strongly that the entire education system in England and Wales has been failing the young catastrophically. Some of the fault lies with the previous government, but the teachers must bear a large portion of the blame for the falling standards. The evidence speaks for itself when an estimated 4 out of every 5 youngsters these days cannot read or write English properly.

Milton Keynes head teacher Tony Draper is reported to have said, “It will lead to further narrowing of the curriculum, teaching to the tests and increased misery for our year six students and their families already sick of a diet of practice SATs and drills”.  He continued, “Trust us to assess all our children’s writing this year and every year or we will not cooperate with any future tests”.

The Dreaded SATS Test

From this statement I conclude that the entire teaching method is totally wrong, which is probably why children, and parents end up so confused by it all.

You don’t ‘teach to the test’ for anything, it should be an integral part of learning from day one. Teachers should be checking their pupil’s submissions every day in all aspects, not just the basic issue. Spelling, grammar and punctuation should all be taught from the first moment their pencil touches the paper, not come 6 months or 1 year later. There is a big difference between teaching pupils to ‘get through a test’ and giving them a proper education! When I was in school (hrrumph) years ago, that is how I was taught, e.g. at the end of a sentence you put a full stop, not, don’t bother with that we’ll cover full stops next term!!!

But here we are today, with a nation of semi-literate young adults and children, and no-one is ready to admit that the education system is deeply flawed. Still the teaching profession will not bow down to superior teaching methods that have stood the test of time, and produced some of the world’s brightest brains. If today’s teachers knew even half of what a teacher of my day knew of his subject, education would take a major step forward, but today its more a case of the blind leading the blind! Its a pity more parents don’t see this and demand action!

Speed Up Sacking of Poor Teachers? – About Damn Time!

Posted in Britain, Children, David Cameron, England, English Schools, Teens, UK with tags , , , , , , on 14/01/2012 by floroy1942

The fiasco of poor teaching standards has blighted the education system in Great Britain for far too long, and destroyed the chances of many of our current youth to get a decent job. It is no secret that for years our children have been leaving school semi-literate with a total lack of prospects for a decent job and a good life.

Michael Gove - Secretary of State for Education

Long gone are the days when a child left school with a solid education behind them, and moved into the adult world with good  potential in the job market and the likelihood of advancement in their chosen profession. Thanks to meddling by the previous Labour government in the education system, the children leave school today barely able to write their own name and with spelling and reading capabilities of a four-year-old. The whole sordid system is a national disgrace of massive proportions. Now, thankfully, the Conservative Education Minister Michael Gove has taken further steps to improve the situation.

Finally we have an Education Ministry that wishes to swing the pendulum back the other way and improve not only performance, but also make it easier for schools to get rid of under-performing teachers. Plans are also in the mix to prevent a teacher sacked from  one school for incompetence moving on to another.

Give Them A Future

As you would expect, two of the teachers unions are up in arms at the proposals calling the move as “unnecessary and draconian”, with one leader calling it a “potential bully’s charter”. Unneccessary?  Unneccessary? Do these people live on the same planet as the rest of us?

I suppose they think the fact that most of today’s kids are leaving school dumber than when they went in has nothing whatsoever to do with them, well, how could a teacher possibly be thought responsible for poor standards of education???? If they think that, then the problem is far worse than anyone realised!!!

Sounds About Right

As you can imagine, Christine Blower, who heads the National Union of Teachers (NUT) had much to say. She said: “The changes to the appraisal and capability policies will rightly be seen by teachers as an attack on their professionalism and will anger and depress them in equal measure.” adding: “What the Government proposes is potentially a bully’s charter. The union believes that many well-functioning schools, where development and professionalism is prized, will not adopt Mr Gove’s model.” On the other side of the argument Russell Hobby, general secretary of the National Association of Head Teachers (NAHT), said the proposals were in the “best interests” of the profession.

Confused? - You Have Every Right To Be!

There are many very good teachers in the education system in Britain who know their subject inside out, and the exam results for their students reflect this. Many have been covering for the incompetent ones for a long time. Its time they didn’t need to do that anymore.

A public poll carried out by Boulten & Co. showed a massive 83% for and just 17% against making the sacking of teachers easier. At the moment it is a long and tedious process to get rid of a bad teacher and it is this process that Mr. Gove is wanting to simplify so head teachers can ween out the dullards.

Help!

He has already made some initial moves to improve the standards of teacher education and to raise the level of teacher qualification exams which should help improve the competence and knowledge levels of new teachers entering the profession. It will take time for all this to filter through to the classroom, but its nice to know we are at last on the right track.

More Proof Britain’s Education System Has Failed

Posted in Benefits, Britain, Elections, English Schools, Teens, UK with tags , , , , on 22/11/2011 by floroy1942

Not that more proof is needed to convince anyone with an iota of intelligence that the education system in Britain has let down an entire generation of our young people, but……..

No Hope?

Once again employers are slating the levels of literacy, numeracy and reading skills of our 1.02 million unemployed youth. The general consensus among employers is that our young people are unemployable in today’s market. No great surprises there!

Gerwyn Davies of the CIPD – The Report’s Author

A new report by Gerwyn Davies, of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) points not only to the education shortfalls in young people today, but also their lack of communication skills, general tardiness, laziness, and poor time-keeping.

A Labour Legacy

Much criticism has been labelled at companies who employ migrant workers over British ones, but the report lays out in no uncertain terms the reasons for this. While more than 50% of the 1000 employers questioned complained of poor literacy, 42% stated that numeracy skills were far below the levels required and 40% said British applicants lacked communication and customer skills. For this reason, most companies preferred to hire foreign nationals who not only had all these skills in abundance, but were diligent, punctual and enthusiastic in their work. In fact all the things our own youth are not!

Currently, only 12% of employers plan to hire school-leavers, and no more than 25% would consider a teenager for employment. That however does not mean the jobs are not there because they are.

Another Job Oppotunity

In many areas employers are struggling to fill vacancies but the only people applying are foreigners. These are mainly High Street jobs, but let’s face it, they are jobs. Many examples were quoted in the article, in particular a spanish restaurant chain where in one establishment there are 25 workers, but only one Briton. Another restaurant, this time in Croyden, has 26 staff with only 7 Brits. An outdoor clothing store store has 15 staff with only 5 locals.

This picture is duplicated across the country for one reason only; British youth is not applying for these jobs. Many see working on the High Street as below them, especially if they have a degree, failing to realise that any job is better than none. Others consider the salary rates for such jobs as too low because they can make more money on benefits. Obviously self esteem does not play much of role in today’s world.

What Does the Future Hold For Me?

Up to a point, I can understand the sheer frustration felt by many of today’s youth, for to have no goal in life is hard. Every young person needs direction, and the prospect of being able to improve their lives, but that too is missing. Sadly, that is the fault of uncaring parents who have not properly prepared their offspring for life after school. Many young people have, in their eyes, studied hard to get qualifications, only to find that they are of little use because of the previous Labour governments disgraceful devaluing of them.

The CIPD also pointed out the difficulty in finding professional people like doctors, engineers and accountants. According to the report’s author, the reason for this debacle is “the legacy of the last Government, which failed to invest in skills’ and instead plugged the gap with foreign workers. Labour that was sought in the middle of the last decade from countries such as Poland was seen as a useful stopgap to filling the skills shortage at a time when the economy was doing really well.” He added: “The problem was hidden to a large degree. Now unemployment is at a much higher level and many of the migrant workers are still here”.

Welfare to Work?

There are of course many avenues to help solve this crisis in Britain, and the governments welfare-to-work scheme is seen as the most promising by the CIPD. On this subject Gerwyn Davies said: “I think that the key to improving the situation lies with the work programme. It is about giving them a helping hand, giving them professional, specialist advice that involves coaching and searching for work. It is this support that has been relatively lacking in recent decades that could be the difference between us improving the prospects of young people over the next couple of years or so”.

A long term solution can only be achieved by getting rid of the many teachers who are not up to scratch, and beefing up the system to overcome the disgraceful shortfalls in education that our children suffer today. I have on many occasions highlighted what needs to be done in these areas and will therefore not go into detail here. It is sufficient that I refer you to a couple of earlier posts on the subject:

Enrichment??? – Time to Get Back to Basic Values!

For those interested there are more but the story is basically the same, our education system needs a major overhaul if we are to have  skilled people in future generations. Currently the government is in my view on the wrong track by diversifying the system even more with its ‘free schools’. Instead, it should be concentrating on a standard curriculum for the entire country, a system that worked well in the past. It is wrong for the government to ‘fine tune’ the curriculum to pander to immigrants as Labour did, for if these people live in our country, they live by our rules and learn our language.
Nuff said!!!!!

New GCSE Shakeup – Well Overdue!

Posted in Britain, Children, Conservative Party, English Schools, Government, Liberal Party, Primary Education, Teens, UK with tags , , , on 01/10/2011 by floroy1942

Just about everyone knows how the previous Labour government dumbed down the GCSE exams to improve the pass rate, and thereby make themselves look good. Now the pendulum has, thankfully, started to swing the other way and we are faced with a much needed shakeup of the education system.

The whole idea of GCSE exams was originally intended to seek out the brighter pupils in our schools, and give them a chance to attend university. From there they would become our next generation of entrepeneurs, scientists and academics.

Tony Blair on Education

That was until Labour got their sticky fingers in the mix and wanted to improve their popularity with the masses! During their tenure as government of the country, they successfully managed to sabotage the whole system until it became practically worthless, because everyone had an opportunity to attend the highest level of education, ‘bright’ or not!

Now, many of those who have managed to obtain a university place will never make the grade, for the simple reason they are not clever enough, a fact revealed by the numbers who no longer succeed in obtaining a degree. Don’t misunderstand me, for I know that many of our youth have worked hard, and fully deserve their place in university and I wish them success.

I have to admit to utter amazement at reports that under the coalition, GCSE pupils will now be marked for spelling, punctuation  and grammar! Once I got over my shock, I began to realize why so many of today’s youth cannot put an intelligent sentence together!

Pass Rate Increase Under Labour

It would appear that under Labour, the following sentence would have been acceptable on a GCSE exam paper: “Shakespeer woz a man, who rote, plays and poims b4 he dyed”. This is what happens when an important exam like this is not marked for spelling and grammar. The examiner, knowing full well the inaccuracies in the preceding statement, would have been powerless to do anything, because these mistakes were not covered in the exam. Considering the fact that it is one of the most important in a child’s education cycle, I find it incredible!

Even now, with the changes being made by Ofqual, they do not go anywhere near far enough. The new marking of spelling, punctuation and grammar will only apply to English literature, geography, history and religious studies to start with. Well, at least they said “to start with”. Hopefully, more will come!

When I was at school, we got marked on spelling and grammar all the time, exam or not. It was drummed into us from primary school onward. Nowadays, I guess it’s not worth the effort, what with the kids growing up with ‘teen speak’ etc.

Another thing that is being curbed is the ‘re-sit’, a practice that allows pupils to re-sit exams until they either pass, or improve their marks. In my day, you got one shot at it and that was it. The ‘one shot’ tactic was again a way of ensuring only those clever enough went to university.

Hard Work - For A Now Worthless Piece Of Paper

If the current trend had continued, I could well see the day when we had people (I was going to say leaders, but that would be ridiculous) in industry and politics who could not even string an intelligent sentence together!

Thanks to our previous government, we are now seeing the emergence of a generation of young people, who in many cases, have been to all the right schools etc, but come away dumb. And do you know what the funny thing is? Many people will still vote Labour in the next election!

I do not say this as a Conservative or Liberal, for I am devoutly apolitical, and do not support any political party.

‘Free’ Schools – You Must Be Joking!

Posted in Britain, Child Abuse, Child Discipline, Children, Christianity, Conservative Party, David Cameron, England, English Schools, Government, Insanity, Liberal Party, MP's, Nick Clegg, Parenting, Primary Education, Primary Schools, Religion, Teens, UK with tags , , , , on 04/09/2011 by floroy1942

At a time when most teenagers are leaving school semi-literate, it is essential the government take positive action to improve education, but in typical government style, they messed it up!

Misguided on Education

It has been announced that the first 24 so-called ‘free’ schools are open for business, and I predict the scheme is doomed to failure from the start. All it will do is ensure our teenagers leave school dumber and more confused than ever.

How on earth can parents, teachers and charities be allowed to decide their own curriculum? It beggars belief! Have Cameron and his cronies gone completely crazy overnight, or more likely, have they been listening to some of the crackpots in the system?

To begin with, considering most parents fall into the semi-literate category these days with standards of education that make them unemployable, how can they decide what their children should learn in school? Secondly, What the hell have charities to do with education? What could their input possibly be. How to wrap an aid parcel for Africa, or stand on a pavement collecting pennies! Perhaps a little simplistic for some, but you know what I mean. The point being, what makes charity workers and parents qualified to decide what is taught in our schools? It will certainly open the door to the ‘all-knowing’ crackpots who think they know best!

Pupils in School

I am so dumbfounded, I just cannot believe that any sane government would go down this road. It has always been essential that school curriculums be set by the government and taught in every school in the land. That’s why they call it The National curriculum for crying out loud! Only in this way can everyone be guaranteed the same level of education.

Doing it the governments way, we could find one school is teaching geography while another isn’t, and a different school could be teaching history while another isn’t.

But I Was Doing History!

What if ‘Johnny Fox’ goes to school in Nottingham, and then because his father gets a new job in Manchester, he has to change schools. They teach history in Nottingham but not in Manchester. They do geography instead! What is the child to do? Can anyone in the government answer that one for me? I doubt it!

Apparently, the Department of Education has only stipulated that English, maths and science must be taught.  Religious education must also be part of the programme and can be a single faith or many. It doesn’t stipulate that Christianity must be taught in a Christian country, but maybe that is so as not to upset the Muslims!

Let's Have Some PT To Fight Obesity

Why for example, have mandatory physical training classes not been introduced from primary school onward? We all know about the new boom in obesity, and many children fall into this category. Starting them on a regular exercise schedule, i.e. PT, from the age of five or six could be an effective way of combatting this.

‘Free’ schools, as prescribed by the government, will lead to hopeless confusion in schools, and for the pupils. The only positive things about the plan is that children will spend longer hours in school, and class sizes will be smaller.

It’s all right for Nick Clegg to prattle on about: “UK has one of most segregated school systems in the world”, but this is the fault of the previous Labour government. They allowed schools to ignore the national curriculum  in high immigrant areas, and changes to our education system by even having classes in foreign languages, like Arabic for Muslims etc. instead of insisting that all immigrant children learn English!

Muslim Classes - Evenings or Weekends

All children emigrating to England should attend national curriculum classes, and if they want to learn about e.g. the Muslim culture, they do it at weekends or evening classes run by Muslims. It is the only way they can properly learn about our culture and integrate. They are after all coming to live in the UK, and must adapt their lifestyle to our ways, while still being able to retain their own culture.

The coalition government it definately going in the wrong direction with this plan. I can only conclude that somewhere in the Education Ministry there is a nutter on the loose, and everyone there is listening to him/her.

Please God, Save our Country from total idiots!

Roy.
