Pakistan – The Devil’s Playground

I was shocked to read in today’s news about the brutal death of a young girl who married against her mother’s wishes, and was brutally murdered because of it. The girl, eighteen-year-old Zeenat was choked by her mother, and while still alive, burnt to death with kerosene. After this despicable act her mother, Parveen Rafiq screamed from her rooftop, “I have killed my daughter. I have saved my honor. She will never shame me again.”

A Victim Of Sharia

A Victim Of Sharia

The whole saga began when Zeenat decided to marry her childhood sweetheart and not a man whom her mother had chosen in a so-called ‘arranged marriage’, a member of their own social caste, the Rajput. Zeenat had her heart set on a childhood friend, a 20-year-old motorcycle mechanic named Hassan Khan who lived nearby in their crowded Lahore shantytown. Her death on June 8 was the latest in a series of increasingly gruesome “honour” killings in Pakistan, which has one of the highest rates of such killings in the world.

After they married Zeenat went to live with Hassan and his family, but her mother and uncle came to the door many times begging her to come home at least for a few days because they forgave her. Her mother wanted to arrange a proper marriage for the pair to dispel the idea held by the neighbours that she had eloped. She eventually agreed, but on the fourth day was killed by her mother in the aforementioned despicable way.

Neighbours outside Rafiq’s home all agreed that the mother was driven to kill Zeenat, and she should go free. “Daughters are duty-bound to maintain the honor of the family,” said Muneeba Bibi. “It’s better to have no children than to have a daughter who brings you shame. Zeenat’s killing was a good lesson for all the girls here to protect the family honour,” she said.

Zeenat’s mother has been arrested as police and prosecutors found a way around the forgiveness loophole. Rafiq and one of her sons suspected of helping in Zeenat’s killing have been detained and face charges under the anti-terrorism law, which defines any act that causes general panic as terrorism. We will have to wait and see how that goes in court.

A Girl Who Assisted Her Friend To Get Married

In another such case a mother in Abbottabad slit the throat of her pregnant 22 year-old daughter who married a man she loved. The victim’s girlfriend who helped her, was systematically tortured and then injected with poison. After that she was strapped into the seat of a car which was then set alight. She died in absolute agony.  The council of local elders, ordered her killing as a message to others.

Last year, 1,096 women and 88 men were killed in “honour” crimes in Pakistan, according to the independent Human Rights Commission of Pakistan. The fact of the matter is that the numbers are most likely far higher, as not all get reported. Those who kill for “honour” are almost never punished in Pakistan.

Both Stabbed As Torture Before Being Killed.

Both Stabbed As Torture Before Being Killed.

This country has the highest rate of honour crimes in the world, and the sad thing is, the perpetrators of these killings are very seldom punished for their crimes. It’s all to do with the savage Sharia Law that allows such actions. The law, based on Islamic Shariah allows the family of a victim to forgive a killer, and in these cases the killers are almost always family. So other relatives give their forgiveness, unwilling to see loved ones jailed.

It is a fact that more than 70 percent of Pakistan’s 180 million people are under 30, and many are challenging these traditions to an unprecedented degree. Marvi Sermid, a women’s rights activist said, “The old order of misogyny and extremism is falling apart, is really crumbling.” The campaign has been assisted by women going to school and working outside the home, and social media has helped women raise their voices.

Message Of The Young

Message Of The Young

The government proposed a law aimed at protecting women against violence, but in May the council put forward an alternative allowing men to “lightly beat” their wives. On TV talk shows, guests denounced the council as misogynist and out of touch. Some lawmakers called for it to be disbanded.

I have a feeling that this argument will rage on for a very long time, for although the younger generation in Pakistan seem to be more enlightened, the old are not, and stick fast to their ancient traditions.

To me these people are still living in the stone age and it all has to do with the Muslim Sharia Law. It is not the same in all Muslim countries, but we still get to hear about stoning to death, the chopping off of a thief’s hand and hangings in the street.

By comparison I will not say that our western justice system is better, for many killers and thieves get ridiculously short sentences, and have an easy time of it in prison in many countries. But it is better than the sheer savagery of Sharia Law.

Will it ever change, I doubt it!

Germany – And So It Begins!

Cologne New Year Celebrations

Cologne New Year Celebrations

It would appear from news stories that Germany has been shocked rigid by a wave of New Year attacks on women in various cities. I hate to say it, but I told you so!

All the assaults were carried out by men of Arab or African origin according to witnesses, in other words, newly arrived Muslim immigrants! City police chief Wolfgang Albers called it “a completely new dimension of crime”.

Cologne Station

In Cologne alone eighty women reported that they had been attacked and sexually assaulted or mugged. These attacks were carried out by a group from around a thousand individuals who had been drinking heavily and were extremely aggressive according to witnesses. A policeman who was outside Cologne station during the New Year’s Eve trouble told the city’s Express news website that he had detained eight suspects. “They were all asylum seekers, carrying copies of their residence certificates,” he said.

The most serious assaults took place near Cologne Cathedral where several women were groped and one was actually raped. Similar incidents have also been reported in Hamburg and Stuttgart over the same period.

Merkel

Merkel – A Muslim’s Best Friend

What is disturbing for the authorities is that these attacks appear to have been planned, as large groups of men arrived and then separated into large gangs to carry out the assaults and robberies. Cologne Mayor Henriette Reker called the attacks ‘monstrous’. “We cannot allow this to become a lawless area,” she said, insisting that visitors could not come to the city fearing attack. In addition German Justice Minister Heiko Maas tweeted that “we won’t tolerate these abhorrent assaults on women – all those responsible must be brought to justice”.

Of particular worry to the police are the Carnival events when drunken street parties take place throughout Germany in the first week of February. The revellers will be out in every village, town and city, for Carnival Week is a much anticipated week-long party. The police are naturally expecting these same criminals to take full advantage of the occasion.

Germany will have to get used to the idea of rape, sexual assault and harassment of their women as an everyday occurrence, much the same as we have in Britain since the Muslims swarmed in under Tony Blair. Angela Merkel should have known of the very strict dress code forced on Muslim women by their men, and what their reaction would be when they saw European women, who by comparison are scantily dressed.

A Natural Target For Muslims

A Natural Target For Muslims

By inviting so many Muslim migrants into the country, Germany has opened up a huge ‘can of worms’ that will affect its daily life from here on in. In many places women will no longer feel safe on the streets, especially after dark. Young girls will begin to disappear as they are forced into prostitution after being snatched by Muslim sex gangs.

Oh yes! I can hear the cries of ‘Rubbish’ from here, but if you do not believe me then take a trip to Rotherham, Bradford, Leeds or Birmingham in Britain and you will see the truth. Many of these gangs are known to the police, but they are not allowed to do anything about it for fear of ‘upsetting the Muslims’.

The Muslim View Of Western Women

The Muslim View Of Western Women

What most western people do not comprehend is that rape and sexual assault on ‘infidel’ women and young girls is actually condoned by the Muslim Holy Book – The Qur’an! From this you should understand that the rape and abduction of a ‘non-believer’ is perfectly acceptable in the Muslim culture. If you don’t believe me then look it up.

While this is not a problem in Muslim lands because all are followers of Allah, it becomes a problem of supreme significance in western lands that do not follow Allah. This is what Germany has coming to it thanks to the mass migration of Muslims into the country.

Where Women Are A Target For Abuse

Posted in Arab, Child Abuse, Human Rights, Modern World, Muslim, Religion, UK, USA with tags , , , , , on 09/02/2013 by floroy1942

In the West we have Human Rights Laws to protect women, and we have other laws that make it illegal for any man to force his intentions on a woman, but sadly, this is not so everywhere. Ever since the tragic episode in December last year of a young medical student who was gang-raped on a bus in New Delhi, the plight of women in this mostly Hindu nation has been brought to the fore. As we all now know, she was repeatedly raped for over an hour and then thrown from the bus like a piece of garbage and left to die.

This terrible incident has given impetus to the Indian government to begin putting laws in place to protect the rights of women, however, it remains to be seen how successful this will be. In India rape is a widespread problem as men seem to think that women can be abused at will and there will be no repercussions, which is often true.

Latest Atrocity:

Child Forced Labour Is Widespread

It is also sad to note that child rape and general abuse is also endemic in the country. Many children as young as five are forced into slave labour. According to Indian government sources one in two children suffer abuse at some time or other, and more to the point, most cases go unreported so the actual number is far higher.

A Woman Is Abused By The Military

A Woman Is Abused By The Military

In other cases, many Egyptian women have been raped and molested in public by large crowds of men in Tahrir Square in Cairo, scene of many demonstrations. Most notable was the recent incident where a woman had her clothes ripped off and was groped by a very large group of men. There have been at least three cases where western women have been attacked in the square by gangs of up to a hundred men, had their clothes ripped off, and while no actual rape was committed, they were subjected to abuse the likes of which are difficult to imagine.

So what does this kind of attitude towards women tell us? It is well known that in the Muslim world women are second-class citizens, and to put it in a ‘nutshell’, are put on Earth only to serve men. In some countries the strict laws regarding woman have been somewhat relaxed, but sadly not all.

Trapped - With No Way Out

Trapped – With No Way Out

In the strictest Muslim countries women are required to wear the infamous burka which covers them from head to toe. The following is from the Quran: “O Prophet! Tell your wives and daughters and the believing women that they should draw over themselves their jilbab (outer garments) (when in public); this will be more conducive to their being recognized (as decent women) and not harassed. But God is indeed oft-forgiving, most merciful. (33:59)” While this text does not specifically say that women must cover themselves from head to foot, it has been interpreted as such because otherwise women will “inflame the passions of men”! It would seem many Muslim men think of nothing but sex and have a difficult time controlling themselves, as the sight of even a small amount of female skin will get their blood racing!

Guwahati India – A Young Woman Is Attacked On A Busy Street. No-one Called The Police But Many Filmed It On Their Phone

In India there is much the same feeling that women are there to serve men, and a man can do as he pleases without fear of retribution. Although the government is trying to put laws in place to protect women and children from abuse, I fear it will have little effect, because like the Muslim world it is part of their culture, and it will take much more than a few laws to bring about change. Among the ‘Laws Concerning Women in Manu-Smriti’ (Hindu Scriptures) can be found the following: “13.1 (women will be) Always dependent 13.2  (she will always) Worship and obey (her) husband 5.148 In childhood a female must be subject to her father, in youth to her husband, when her lord is dead to her sons; a woman must never be independent”. So you see that women have very little chance of being better off with the passage of new laws introduced by the government.

It is pretty much the same with both Muslims and Hindu’s that women have little or no rights as human beings except to serve their masters, i.e. their husbands. Laws will not change this fact. It becomes evident that both religions have a lot to learn in this day and age.

Are You Doing Your Best For Your Child?

Posted in Child Abuse, Child Discipline, Children, Human Rights, Modern World, Parenting, Relationships, Teen Violence, Teens, UK with tags , , , , , , , , on 24/06/2010 by floroy1942

So you think you know how to bring up your children and what is best for them. Right? Sorry, but the state of the world today dictates otherwise for many. All is not lost however, a group of researchers in Utah have dramatically discovered what is wrong today.

Is This Your Child?

Even a superficial look at the figures for teenage crime, violence and drunkenness in many western countries will prove the current ‘softly, softly’ approach to bringing up a child is way off the mark. So how have we developed as a species to the extent where a lot of parents are afraid of their own offspring?

Many parents today will readily admit they have no control over their children so you have to ask, what has changed? What cataclysmic event allowed our children to change from being obedient, considerate and respectful into monsters to be feared?

A Child of Today

The answer in my opinion is two-fold. On the one hand we have a distinct lack of discipline in the home and schools brought about by the interfering ‘nanny’ state, and secondly, the steady erosion of family life within the home over the last forty years.

The 'Hoodies'

Ever since the first Anti-Smacking Law was presented to the New Zealand Parliament in 1961 to combat escalating abuse against children, and in particular the last 20 years when various other nations have also applied such laws, teenage violence, drunkenness, and crime have escalated to such proportions that in many countries people will take an alternate route rather than pass a pair of youths hanging around on a street corner.

The researchers, from Brigham Young University in Utah USA, found that children with “a strict and loving upbringing” were more likely to grow into honest, responsible and respectful youth than those with (a) little or no discipline, and (b) excessive or little love. Their findings indicate that too much love or discipline, or too much of one and not the other, can be detrimental to the way children view life and behave as teenagers. Obviously, the trick is to find the right balance.

What I find so amazing is they have ‘re-discovered’ a formula that has been working for centuries prior to the mad last half of the twentieth century!

Children of the 1950's

I was born in 1942 and know all there is about discipline as a child and I continued with bringing up my two children in the same strict way. Neither one has ever been in trouble, never taken to drink as a substitute for enjoyment and are now respectable grown-ups.

Any comparison between the old and new ways of bringing up children reveals quite simply the new ways don’t work, and are the reason we are in this mess today with our youth. I have for years advocated that all this crap about anti-smacking is just that; Crap!

As I said to friends of ours who had a baby boy about eighteen months ago, they must ensure the child knows who is boss right from the cradle. Not doing so can lead to a life of misery for both parents. For the first ten months or so, both parents got very little sleep each night because the baby would wake at all hours crying and wanting attention, so they stayed, sometimes for several hours, until it fell into an exhausted sleep.

In this way the baby became dominant in the household and for a long time he would squawk for attention any time he felt like it and mummy or daddy would come running. Since then, if the child wants something and doesn’t get it there follows a fit of pure temper until the parents gave in.

Violent Children

Once a child has asserted its supremacy there can follow years of misery for the parents, who may try and gain control, but it’s an uphill battle and almost impossible to achieve.

As in days gone by, and as the research team have recently ‘discovered’ (tongue in cheek), a strict disciplined upbringing and shows of love and caring are essential for the future well-being of any child. It is imperative children are taught from the beginning that the parents are the boss, and they should do as they are told. Without this approach, any child will get the feeling that they can do as they please, and life owes them everything for free! Much as many children and teenagers think today.

In supermarkets everywhere we hear cries of; “I want… – I want…” and so often the reply is “Oh alright” just for the sake of keeping the peace for one more precious minute.

Temper

Currently, most children have no idea what ‘No!’ means, for they are fully aware that if they pester their parents for long enough, or throw a tantrum, they will eventually get what they want. A sad indictment of parental control today.

The days when you could properly discipline your child for wrong-doing are sadly long gone, as is evident from occasional news stories that highlight cases where a mother has had her children taken away from her by Social Services, for nothing more than giving a recalcitrant child a smack on the leg or hand for being naughty in public. These stupid laws should be repealed immediately, for the simple reason you cannot expect any child to follow the right path if no-one is allowed to tell them what it is.

The Horror of Child Abuse

Don’t for minute think that I condone child cruelty, for I do not, and anyone found committing such an act should be severely punished to the full extent of the law, but there is a wide chasm between such things and the smacking of an undisciplined child.

Yes, I hear some say, but where do we draw the line? For these simple-minded people who need to be told; the line not to be crossed is that of leaving a bruise, breaking a bone, or breaking the skin and thereby causing bleeding. All of these are a long way from giving your child an open-handed smack on the legs, hands or buttocks.

Earlier I also said the loss of the ‘family unit’ has been a contributing factor in the failings of youth these days, and I meant it.

Who's Looking After Your Child?

Since WW2, and the advent of women going out to work for a living, family life has all but ceased to exist. The children are rushed off to school or left in the care of child-minders or crèche centres and never get to see their parents again until they come home tired from a long day’s work. Perhaps, if they are lucky, a couple of hours television and then off to bed to start the whole process over again the next day.

This is not family life for a child!

A Family Day Out

A child needs to know it is loved, needs to have someone there to tell it when it’s doing something wrong. As a parent, you can love your child to bits, but it all means nothing if one of you is not there to welcome them home from school and listen while they tell you about their day. If they hurt themselves while out playing, they need to know someone is at home and will kiss it better, not have to wait until five o’clock when mummy or daddy comes home from work.

It all comes down to one basic fact that is more often than not overlooked in today’s society, Having a child is a responsibility for life! Any couple who decide to have a child must make the conscious decision that someone needs to be at home all the time if you are to be responsible parents and raise responsible children. You can’t have it both ways!
