The Trouble In Spain

For forty years there has never been so much trouble in Spain as today. The Catalan government has declared it’s secession from Spain, but the Spanish government does not accept it. Catalan wants to be an independent  nation, but how many people accept this? We see daily on the news hoards of people celebrating the departure of Catalan from Spain, but how many really want to see this happen?

Crowds gather in Barcelona and cheer the secession but are they the majority of the population? Although thousands have gathered in Barcelona to cheer on their government it is nowhere near all of the people. Very many of them do not want to take this step and the upcoming vote, planned by Rajoy, will show how many really back this separation from Spain.

The leader of the separation movement Carles Puigdemont announced the separation from Spain a week ago and Premier Mariano Rajoy  was livid at the sheer arrogance of this announcement. At the moment he is planning to removed the current government of Barcelona, intending to replace them with people of his own. It is for sure this will cause a lot of trouble in the north, as people who voted for the secession will demonstrate on the streets of Barcelona and there will probably be riots on the streets.

Catalan is the biggest earner in the country, and if this goes ahead we can see that Spain will become a poor country as Catalonia flourishes with its wealth. Most of the wealth in the rest of Spain comes from tourism. Will we see the numbers drop if this plan goes ahead?

No-one knows how this will turn out, but Rahoy has called a general election in the near future. What the outcome will be of this vote no-one knows.

A New Russian Threat To Ukraine?

S-400 Missiles

S-400 Missiles

Once again the threat level in Ukraine has been raised by Russia moving  more S-400 Triumph missiles into the Crimea. Ever since Russia annexed Crimea from Ukraine in 2014, and sowed the seeds of revolution in eastern Ukraine, the problems have been slowly escalating. Will it lead to war, no-one knows.

Bit by bit both the Americans and the Russians have been sending in troops and war equipment along the eastern border. A few months ago NATO and the Americans moved battalions of troops into Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland to ‘bolster defences’.

This was answered by Russia who now have 40,000 troops stationed along the Crimea/Ukraine border, and to my mind, it would take a only a spark to ignite a war. There can be little doubt that both sides need to tread very carefully so as to avoid a major confrontation.

Yevhen Panov Shown In Custody

Yevhen Panov Shown In Custody

Recently Russia accused Kiev of sending saboteurs across the border into the Crimea, and reported the deaths of a soldier and a secret police officer in an operation to foil the alleged plot. The Russians are holding a man, Yevhen Panov,  who they claim is a saboteur working for the Ukraine government, this of course Ukraine has denied.

Ukrainian Tanks

Kiev has placed all their troops on high alert along its de facto border with Crimea, and along its front line with Russian-backed rebels holding parts of Donetsk and Luhansk in the east after the claim. They have also moved a great number of tanks close to the border with Crimea.

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said Moscow might be forced to cut diplomatic ties with Ukraine if the crisis worsened.

It is situations like this, where lies and deceit are rife, that ends up starting wars. As the situation escalates in Ukraine and Crimea we could be heading for a whole load of trouble. I for one hope that the politicians get their heads together and solve this before it does escalate into war.

The European Union – The Assassin That Is Killing Britain.

Posted in America, Britain, David Cameron, England, European Union, Germany, News, Parliament, Politics, Relationships with tags , , , , on 05/07/2016 by floroy1942

I received this from a friend today and thought it worth passing on to all those who think we should stay in the European Union. This shows the steady, and continuing destruction of Britain’s manufacturing base by the European Union. If this goes on we will be left with nothing.

Subject: Fw: EU grants – A few thoughts to ponder.

Cadbury moved factory to Poland 2011 with EU grant.

Ford Transit moved to Turkey 2013 with EU grant.

Jaguar Land Rover has recently agreed to build a new plant in Slovakia with EU grant, owned by Tata, the same company who have trashed our steel works and emptied the workers pension funds.

Peugeot closed its Ryton (was Rootes Group) plant and moved production to Slovakia with EU grant.

British Army’s new Ajax fighting vehicles to be built in SPAIN using SWEDISH steel at the request of the EU to support jobs in Spain with EU grant, rather than Wales.

Dyson gone to Malaysia, with an EU loan.

Crown Closures, Bournemouth (Was METAL BOX), gone to Poland with EU grant, once employed 1,200.

Marks & Spencer manufacturing gone to Far East with EU loan.

Hornby models gone. In fact all toys and models now gone from UK along with the patents, all with EU grants.

Gillette gone to eastern Europe with EU grant.

Texas Instruments Greenock gone to Germany with EU grant.

Indesit at Bodelwyddan Wales gone with EU grant.

Sekisui Alveo said production at its Merthyr Tydfil Industrial Park foam plant will relocate production to Roermond in the Netherlands, with EU funding.

Hoover Merthyr factory moved out of UK to Czech Republic and the Far East by Italian company Candy with EU backing.

ICI integration into Holland’s Akzo Nobel with EU bank loan and within days of the merger, several factories in the UK were closed, eliminating 3,500 jobs.

Boots sold to Italians Stefano Pessina who have based their HQ in Switzerland to avoid tax to the tune of £80 million a year, using an EU loan for the purchase.

JDS Uniphase run by two Dutch men, bought up companies in the UK with £20 million in EU ‘regeneration’ grants, created a pollution nightmare and just closed it all down leaving 1,200 out of work, and an environmental clean-up to be paid for by the UK tax-payer. They also raided the pension fund and drained it dry.

UK airports are owned by a Spanish company.

Scottish Power is owned by a Spanish company.

Most London buses are run by Spanish and German companies.

The Hinkley Point C nuclear power station to be built by French company EDF, part owned by the French government, using cheap Chinese steel that has catastrophically failed in other nuclear installations. Now EDF say the costs will be double or more and it will be very late, even if it does come online.

Swindon was once our producer of rail locomotives and rolling stock. Not any more, it’s Bombardier in Derby and due to their losses in the aviation market, that could see the end of the British railways manufacturing altogether even though Bombardier had EU grants to keep Derby going which they diverted to their loss-making aviation side in Canada.

39% of British invention patents have been passed to foreign companies, many of them in the EU.

The Mini cars that Cameron stood in front of as an example of British engineering, are built by BMW mostly in Holland and Austria. His campaign bus was made in Germany even though we have Plaxton, Optare, Bluebird, Dennis etc., in the UK.

The bicycle for the Greens was made in the Far East, not by Raleigh UK but then they are probably going to move to the Netherlands too as they have said recently.

Anyone who thinks the EU is good for British industry or any other business simply hasn’t paid attention to what has been systematic asset-stripping  from the UK.

Name me one major technology company still running in the UK, I used to contract out to many, then the work just dried up as they were sold off to companies from France, Germany, Holland, Belgium, etc., and now we don’t even teach electronic technology for technicians any more, due to EU regulations.

I haven’t detailed our non-existent fishing industry the EU paid to destroy, nor the farmers being paid NOT to produce food they could sell for more than they get paid to do nothing, don’t even go there.

I haven’t mentioned what it costs us to be asset-stripped like this, nor have I mentioned immigration, nor the risk to our security if control of our armed forces is passed to Brussels or Germany.

I tried to find something that’s gone the other way, but I just can’t. If you think the EU is a good idea:

1 You haven’t read the party manifesto of The European Peoples’ Party.

2 You haven’t had to deal with EU petty bureaucracy tearing your business down.

What a huge mess! The sooner we get out the better, for soon all our assets will have been stripped away with the help of the European Union.

A Love Poem

A Summer Story

The birds dart swiftly to and fro

and I am sure they really know

they tell the flowers and the bees

the wind that rustles through the trees

they tell the fox, and rabbit too

the earth so wide, the sky of blue

they tell the creatures of the night

until the break of morning light.

And now the wind is on it’s way

for it too has much to say

it tells the valley’s deep and green

it tells the mountain and the stream

for blowing over forest land

or far across the desert sand

it has reached the foreign shore

to tell its story just once more.

In just a while the story’s known

in every place and every home

by every rock and every tree

by every wave upon the sea

it’s known by every drop of rain

and blade of grass upon the plain

the story of the love we share

forever ours, beyond compare.

I hope you enjoyed it.

Time To Let Japan Off The Hook

Emperor Pays Homage To The War Dead

Emperor Pays Homage To The War Dead

At every annual Remembrance Day in Japan we hear the same criticism of the country about the actions of Japan during W.W. II and I for one am getting a little tired of it. The war ended 70 years ago and still people criticise the Japanese people for their part in it. It is time this stopped and we all moved on.

Nazi Atrocities

Nazi Atrocities

We do not hear the same about Germany and its Nazi era, for it has moved on and become as respected as all the other nations in the world despite the concentration camps and mass killing of civilians. So why must Japan continue to suffer? I do not wish to minimise what this country did during the Second World War, but surely enough is enough.

We have heard over the years various apologies from previous Prime Ministers and the Emperor, but for this country it does not seem to be enough. Why?

Prisoners of War In A Japanese Camp

Prisoners of War In A Japanese Camp

It would seem that most of the reasons lie in the political sphere with countries like China, and to a certain extent South Korea. Japan, as a powerful ally of the USA in the Far East is considered an enemy by Beijing. The Chinese Communist Party thus has an interest in Japan looking like an aggressive nation run by war criminal-lovers, which of course is not true because Japan has remained a self-protectionist state since the war ended. China also gains by fostering anti-Japanese fervour in South Korea as a way of under-mining the relationship of the USA in South Korea.

Self Explanetory

Self Explanatory

Additionally, the political climate in South Korea makes it difficult for Japan to look sincere in its remorse. Many South Korean officials and politicians want stronger ties with Japan. But for historical reasons, being labelled pro-Japanese is the ‘kiss of death’ in Korean politics. To me it just does not make sense, for the war ended seventy years ago and while the world has forgiven Germany, we still keep demanding apologies from Japan. Enough people! Let the war fade into history just like all the others.

Britain In India

Britain In India

Otherwise, the Americans must keep on apologising for destroying the native Indian culture, Britain must apologise for what it did in India, Africa and many other parts of the world. The Spanish and Portuguese must apologise for what they did in South America, and so it goes on and on, never-ending. Hell’s bells, if we went back far enough we could have Norway apologising for the Vikings who killed hundreds of Saxons.

At some time or other, history must be declared history so let us remember with honour the dead of the Second World War, but stop nit-picking at Japan for its part in it. To continue in this vein helps no-one. What is good for Germany is good for Japan.

Charlie Hebdo – Out Of The Frying Pan Into The Fire?

Posted in Al Quada, Arab, Britain, Demonstration, European Union, Insurgents, News, Relationships, Terrorism with tags , , , , on 17/01/2015 by floroy1942

Charlie HebdoThe tragic events of last week and the mass outpouring of indignation at the attack on free speech has it seems backfired. The release of the recent edition of Charlie Hebdo, with the cover featuring once again the Prophet Mohammed, has caused a storm of protest across the Islamic world.

Iranian President Hassan Rowhani Condemns Paris Attack

Iranian President Hassan Rowhani Condemns Paris Attack

Countries like Iran, whose leaders condemned the attack in Paris, have now become a hotbed of violent protest at the release of the paper’s latest edition, which it sees once again as a direct insult to the Prophet.

Muslims all across the Arab world, and the Islamic followers in other countries, are incensed at what they consider a direct insult to their religion.

World Leaders Gather In Protest

World Leaders Gather In Protest

This latest edition of Charlie Hebdo has sold over 7 million copies compared to its normal circulation of around 70,000, due purely to the high profile the attack has had across the world. At the massive demonstration in support of the paper and its right to free speech, leaders from across the world came to Paris in solidarity against the terror attack that took the lives of seventeen staff members. Arab countries from across the Middle East publicly condemned the attack, even Iran, which as we all know has been chief among the Arab nations supporting terrorist groups.

Now, one week later it is clear the western world, and particularly France, is not ‘out of the woods’ yet. Seldom has there been such mass demonstrations among the Islamic people where so many, from so many countries have come together to protest.

Muslim Hatred

Muslim Hatred

To me it seems this one terror act has started a fire that will take a long time and much effort to put out. Such is the current level of hatred among Muslims for ‘infidels’ who dared so dramatically to insult their religion that it has done a huge service to the insurgent groups who will undoubtedly gain more recruits. It appears to me that we may have inadvertently lit the fuse to a new wave of terrorist attacks across the western countries.

Belgian Terrorist Arrest

Belgian Terrorist Arrest

The many arrests in Belgium, France and Germany this last week are an indication that groups are already forming to continue the slaughter initiated by the Charlie Hebdo attackers. In several European countries security forces and police are on high alert to try and head off these attacks, but it may be impossible to stop them all.

Schengen Countries

Schengen Countries

Spain has recently called for a review of the Shengan Agreement that opened all inner European borders many years ago. They say the reinstatement of border checks may help prevent the free travel of insurgents once in Europe. This may well be a good idea when you consider that terror groups, once on European soil, are free to travel from country to country.

Muhammad-The-Ideal-ProphetFor the people of France the Charlie Hebdo attack was a direct assault on free speech, which like many western countries is held to be sacrosanct. It had nothing to do with insulting another’s religion, but this was an unfortunate sideline. Everyone knows how touchy the Islamists are about insulting their prophet, and in the light of that information, I do find that the cartoons lampooning Mohammed to be somewhat provocative. Just because you have the right to do something does not make it a justifiable act.

Free Speech

Free Speech

This is in essence what the Pope said in a speech recently and to a point I have to agree with him. Just because you have the right to insult someone does not necessarily mean you have to do it. At first I was dead against what he said for it seemed he was taking sides, but on reflection I realized that his words were true. In the West we know how touchy the Islamists are about their Prophet Mohammed, so why step into the lions mouth and do something that offends them. As we see with this episode, all it has done is inflame passions against us.

So here we are, with one western newspaper starting a wave of hatred for anything non-Muslim among the 1.6 billion Muslims around the world. What have we got ourselves into?

Area Of al Quada Operations

Area Of al Quada Operations

It is clear that insurgent groups like Islamic State and al Quada will use this current wave of hate to recruit more members, and al Quada itself will feel justified in beginning a wave of attacks across Europe. Countries like France, Britain, Belgium and Germany may well become the main targets for these killers, and no matter how alert the security forces are, some will always get through.

I.S. Foreign Fighters

I.S. Foreign Fighters

It is already known that European Muslims fighting for Islamic State in Syria and Iraq have been trained in terror tactics, and many of them are already back in their country of residence. This fact poses a major problem for the security forces across Europe because to track down all of them when they return is difficult.

This whole episode is a very sad indication of our times where religious hatred, the likes of which we have not seen for a thousand years, is destroying the fabric of civilization and turning us against one another.
