The Iran Dilemma

Posted in Al Quada, America, Britain, European Union, Iran, News, Nuclear Proliferation, Politics, Terrorism, United Nations with tags , , , , on 25/06/2015 by floroy1942

I have for a long time believed that a nuclear deal with Iran will never turn out satisfactorily. Ever since the USA accused them of attempting to make nuclear weapons in 2003, negotiations have been on-going to reach an agreement that would stop the Middle East nation from acquiring these weapons. Iran insists their work is for ‘peaceful purposes’ directed at providing nuclear powered electricity only, and not weapons. however, most of the evidence puts this statement into doubt.

IAEA Inspection Team

IAEA Inspection Team

Inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) have shown Iran is enriching uranium far beyond that needed for a nuclear reactor to produce electricity. Last year it was revealed that they have successfully created a nuclear trigger which is required to initiate a nuclear explosion. What do they need such a thing for if all they wish to do is produce electricity? Since that time serious negotiations have been taking place to make sure this practice is stopped, and to make Iran agree not to ‘go nuclear’.

At every step of the way through the negotiations since 2004, Iran had placed one roadblock after another to prevent an agreement. But after more than ten years of negotiations some countries cannot see ‘the writing on the wall’ and still live in hope. But the interesting thing is, the research is still going on at secret locations.

Iran Leader Khamenei

Iran Leader Khamenei

Now the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has stepped into the ring and stated coldly that Iran will not accept the agreement thus reached and dismantle its nuclear infrastructure unless all sanctions are dropped immediately instead of the phased plan proposed by the USA, no freeze on research, or IAEA inspections of military sites. This means that their research can continue at military sites without the world knowing about it.

So its looks to me that the last eleven years of high level meetings have been all for nothing, and Iran is still determined to go its own way. Put in simple terms, Iran has no intention of giving up its nuclear ambitions which is what I always thought.

For a country that has openly funded and provided weapons to terrorist organizations like al Quada, Hamas, I.S. etc. to have nuclear weapons is probably the most serious threat to peace the world has ever known. The consequences of such an event are unthinkable.

Iran Nuclear Faciclities

Iran Nuclear Facilities

All the years they have been negotiating with smiles on their faces, but I believe there lurks behind the smile a deadly purpose, to become a nuclear power. Nuclear weapons would make them king of the Middle East who could dictate to all the oil rich nations what they should and should not do. With their insane hatred of the USA, they could pass on nuclear weapons to terrorists with the intention of destroying major American cities like Washington or New York and then claim their innocence, that they knew nothing about it.

It may be easy to say, “Oh but they are not that crazy”, but they are Muslims with a belief that when they die they will all get their 72 virgins.

Who Is Aiming At Whom?

Who Is Aiming At Whom?

And what of Israel? If Iran became a nuclear power it may be their plan to follow through on their threat to nuke the country and “remove it from the face of the Earth.” If Iran ever became a nuclear nation there is no telling what they would do with the power. The dangers of a nuclear war in the world would become extremely high if these nutters get the bomb.

Israel has already said that if they proceed and get the materials and ‘know-how’ to make a bomb they will nuke the country to stop it happening. This would be a massive gamble, for it would turn every Muslim on the planet against them, even though secretly  many would be happy they had.

I am sure that every country in the Middle East does not want to see Iran become a nuclear power for their own safety. The leaders of Saudi Arabia have already made it known they would seek to become a nuclear power if Iran does, so where does that leave us?

Reagan and Gorbachov Sign Nuclear Treaty.

Reagan and Gorbachov Sign Nuclear Treaty.

To date the balance of power and the agreements signed between the United States and Russia have removed the threat of an all-out nuclear war on the planet, but if Iran goes nuclear what will happen then? They will become to a great extent a threat to the peace of the world. It could take only one nuclear missile launch to destroy the peace we have known since World War Two. If missiles start flying across the globe there is one thing for sure, mankind will not live to produce another generation.

I sincerely hope I am wrong, but to me there could be hard time ahead for the world. Whichever way you look at it, I am glad I am not a teenager with the whole of my life before me, for if they achieve their ambition dangerous times are ahead.

A Muslim’s View Of Muslims – And It Explains A Lot!

Posted in America, Britain, European Union, Iran, Israel, Modern World, Muslim, News, Pakistan, Religion with tags , , , , on 25/05/2015 by floroy1942

I came across this in my e-mail folder yesterday and thought to pass it on because it explains an awful lot about Muslims and their behaviour. It sheds light on why they are so close-minded, and why they behave the way they do. After reading this it was like someone switched on a light when you try to understand the Muslim mind. In his comparisons the writer opens up a whole host of knowledge that I certainly did not know, and I suspect that you will not either.

It was written by Farrukh Saleem PhD who is a Muslim political scientist and economic theorist, financial analyst, writer and television personality. He was born in Pakistan and educated in The United States, and after investing in the New York Stock Exchange he began writing for various newspapers before returning to Pakistan where he became a writer for such newspapers as The News International, Pakistan’s largest English-language daily newspaper among others.

He has often written about the Jews and Israel, and in this recent article, published in the Muslim Times in 2013, Saleem advocates directing a friendly foreign policy towards Israel. When he draws comparisons between Muslims and Jews, he explains that the main Muslim problem is a failure to pass on knowledge:

Why are Jews so powerful? There are only 14 million Jews in the world; seven million in the Americas, five million in Asia, two million in Europe and 100,000 in Africa. For every single Jew in the world there are 100 Muslims. Yet, Jews are more than a hundred times more powerful than all the Muslims put together. Ever wondered why?

Jesus of Nazareth was Jewish. Albert Einstein, the most influential scientist of all time and TIME magazine’s ‘Person of the Century’, was a Jew. Sigmund Freud, the father of psychoanalysis was a Jew. So were Karl Marx, Paul Samuelson and Milton Friedman.

Here are a few other Jews whose intellectual output has enriched the whole humanity: Benjamin Rubin gave humanity the vaccinating needle. Jonas Salk developed the first polio vaccine. Albert Sabin developed the improved live polio vaccine. Gertrude Elion gave us a leukaemia fighting drug. Baruch Blumberg developed the vaccination for Hepatitis B. Paul Ehrlich discovered a treatment for syphilis. Elie Metchnikoff won a Nobel Prize in infectious diseases. Bernard Katz won a Nobel Prize in neuromuscular transmission. Andrew Schally won a Nobel in endocrinology. Aaron Beck founded Cognitive Therapy. Gregory Pincus developed the first oral contraceptive pill. George Wald won a Nobel for our understanding of the human eye. Stanley Cohen won a Nobel in embryology. Willem Kolff came up with the kidney dialysis machine.

Over the past 105 years, 14 million Jews have won 15-dozen Nobel Prizes while only three Nobel Prizes have been won by 1.4 billion Muslims (other than Peace Prizes for Arafat). Why are Jews so powerful? Stanley Mezor invented the first micro-processing chip. Leo Szilard developed the first nuclear chain reactor; Peter Schultz, optical fibre cable; Charles Adler, traffic lights; Benno Strauss, stainless steel; Isador Kisee, sound movies; Emile Berliner, telephone microphone; Charles Ginsburg, videotape recorder.

Famous financiers in the business world who belong to Jewish faith include Ralph Lauren (Polo), Levis Strauss (Levi’s Jeans), Howard Schultz (Starbuck’s), Sergey Brin (Google), Michael Dell (Dell Computers), Larry Ellison (Oracle), Donna Karan (DKNY), Irv Robbins (Baskins & Robbins) and Bill Rosenberg (Dunkin Donuts). Richard Levin, President of Yale University, is a Jew. So are Henry Kissinger (American Secretary of State), Alan Greenspan (Fed. Chairman under Reagan, Bush, Clinton and Bush), Joseph Lieberman (US Senator), Madeleine Albright (American Secretary of State), Casper Weinberger (American Secretary of Defence), Maxim Litvinov (USSR Foreign Minister), David Marshal ( Singapore’s First Chief Minister), Issac Isaacs (Governor-General of Australia), Benjamin Disraeli (British statesman and author), Yevgeny Primakov (Russian PM), Barry Goldwater (US Senator), Jorge Sampaio (President of Portugal), John Deutsch (CIA Director), Herb Gray (Canadian Deputy PM), Pierre Mendes (French PM), Michael Howard (British Home Secretary), Bruno Kreisky (Chancellor of Austria ) and Robert Rubin (American Secretary of Treasury).

In the media, famous Jews include Wolf Blitzer (CNN), Barbara Walters (ABC News), Eugene Meyer (Washington Post), Henry Grunwald (editor-in-chief of Time Magazine), Katherine Graham (publisher of The Washington Post), Joseph Lelyveld (Executive editor, The New York Times), and Max Frankel (New York Times).

The most beneficent philanthropist in the history of the world is George Soros, a Jew, who has so far donated a colossal $4 billion most of which has gone as aid to scientists and universities around the world. Second to George Soros is Walter Annenberg, another Jew, who has built a hundred libraries by donating an estimated $2 billion.

At the Olympics, Mark Spitz set a record of sorts by winning seven gold medals; Lenny Krayzelburg is a three-time Olympic gold medallist. Spitz, Krayzelburg and Boris Becker (Tennis) are all Jewish.

Did you know that Harrison Ford, George Burns, Tony Curtis, Charles Bronson, Sandra Bullock, Billy Crystal, Woody Allen, Paul Newman, Peter Sellers, Dustin Hoffman, Michael Douglas, Ben Kingsley, Kirk Douglas, Goldie Hawn, Cary Grant, William Shatner, Jerry Lewis and Peter Falk are all Jewish?

As a matter of fact, Hollywood itself was founded by a Jew. Among directors and producers, Steven Spielberg, Mel Brooks, Oliver Stone, Aaron Spelling (Beverly Hills 90210), Neil Simon (The Odd Couple), Andrew Vaina (Rambo 1/2/3), Michael Man (Starsky and Hutch), Milos Forman (One flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest), Douglas Fairbanks (The Thief of Baghdad ) and Ivan Reitman (Ghostbusters) are all Jewish.

So, why are Jews so powerful? Answer : EDUCATION

Why are Muslims so powerless? There are an estimated 1,476,233,470 Muslims on the face of the planet: one billion in Asia, 400 million in Africa, 44 million in Europe and six million in the Americas. Every fifth human being is a Muslim; for every single Hindu there are two Muslims, for every Buddhist there are two Muslims and for every Jew there are one hundred Muslims.

Ever wondered why Muslims are so powerless? Here is why: There are 57 member-countries of the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC), and all of them put together have around 500 universities; one university for every three million Muslims. The United States has 5,758 universities and India has 8,407. In 2004, Shanghai Jiao Tong University compiled an ‘Academic Ranking of World Universities’, and intriguingly, not one university from Muslim-majority states was in the top-500.

As per data collected by the UNDP, literacy in the Christian world stands at nearly 90 per cent and 15 Christian-majority states have a literacy rate of 100 per cent. A Muslim-majority state, as a sharp contrast, has an average literacy rate of around 40 per cent and there is no Muslim-majority state with a literacy rate of 100 per cent. Some 98 per cent of the ‘literates’ in the Christian world had completed primary school, while less than 50 per cent of the ‘literates’ in the Muslim world did the same. Around 40 per cent of the ‘literates’ in the Christian world attended university while no more than two per cent of the ‘literates’ in the Muslim world did the same. Muslim-majority countries have 230 scientists per one million Muslims. The US has 4,000 scientists per million and Japan has 5,000 per million. In the entire Arab world, the total number of full-time researchers is 35,000 and there are only 50 technicians per one million Arabs. (in the Christian world there are up to 1,000 technicians per one million). Furthermore, the Muslim world spends 0.2 per cent of its GDP on research and development, while the Christian world spends around five per cent of its GDP. Conclusion: The Muslim world lacks the capacity to produce knowledge!

Daily newspapers per 1,000 people and number of book titles per million are two indicators of whether knowledge is being diffused in a society. In Pakistan, there are 23 daily newspapers per 1,000 Pakistanis while the same ratio in Singapore is 360. In the UK, the number of book titles per million stands at 2,000 while the same in Egypt is 20. Conclusion: The Muslim world is failing to diffuse knowledge.

Exports of high technology products as a percentage of total exports are an important indicator of knowledge application. Pakistan’s export of high technology products as a percentage of total exports stands at one per cent. The same for Saudi Arabia is 0.3 per cent; Kuwait, Morocco, and Algeria are all at 0.3 per cent, while Singapore is at 58 per cent. Conclusion: The Muslim world is failing to apply knowledge.

Why are Muslims powerless.? …..Because we aren’t producing knowledge,…..Because we aren’t diffusing knowledge.,…..Because we aren’t applying knowledge. And, the future belongs to knowledge-based societies .

Interestingly, the combined annual GDP of 57 OIC-countries is under $2 trillion. America, just by herself, produces goods and services worth $12 trillion; China $8 trillion, Japan $3.8 trillion and Germany $2.4 trillion (purchasing power parity basis). Oil rich Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait and Qatar collectively produce goods and services (mostly oil) worth $500 billion; Spain alone produces goods and services worth over $1 trillion, Catholic Poland $489 billion and Buddhist Thailand $545 billion. ….. (Muslim GDP as a percentage of world GDP is fast declining). So, why are Muslims so powerless? Answer: Lack of education. All we do is shout to Allah the whole day! And blame everyone else for our multiple failures!

I guess that when you look at it this way, it does explain a lot of the problems with the Muslim world. Having viewed the points put forward by Farrukh Saleem I can find no fault with his logic. He is obviously a learned man who understands the Muslim world very well and everything he puts forward makes sense. No race can advance in today’s world without a certain level of education. A fact that is becoming more obvious as time goes by, and we see the changes that are being made in our daily lives with more and more technology.

Are The Iran Nuclear Negotiations Worth It?

Posted in America, Britain, European Union, Insurgents, Iran, Israel, News, Nuclear Proliferation, Terrorism, United Nations with tags , , , , on 09/04/2015 by floroy1942

Do you believe that Iran is seeking to make nuclear weapons or that, as they say, it is for peaceful purposes only? This thorny issue has been of major concern to many countries for the past twelve years. For more than a decade negotiations have been on-going, and in my view are still far from an agreement.

Says It All Really

Says It All Really

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei

In a recent statement Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has said, “I have never been optimistic about negotiating with America. While I was not optimistic, I agreed with this particular negotiation and supported the negotiators.” He went on to say, “We will sign no agreement but the one that immediately abolishes all the economic sanctions on the first day of the implementation of the agreement.” It would seem he wants ‘to have his cake and eat it too’.

The negotiators on the other side of the table are insisting that sanctions will be lifted gradually once it is seen that Iran is abiding by the terms of the agreement. I would consider this to be a much more sensible approach than that stated by the Iranian Leader.

Iran's Nuclear Facilities

Iran’s Nuclear Facilities

To demand the removal of all sanctions on the day the agreement is signed is no guarantee that Iran will fully take the steps required to limit its nuclear programme.

There will need to be a system of inspections by the  The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to ensure conformance with the terms of the agreement, otherwise Iran could just continue with their activities in secret. This all takes time to arrange, and verification will be a long process. In my view, Iran has been stringing out these talks for more than ten years while in the background they have been continuing their quest for fissionable material. After so many years of negotiation it is highly possible they already have sufficient material to make at least one nuclear weapon, crude though it might be. It would be easy to hide this away somewhere out of sight of the IAEA inspectors.

Nuclear Site

Nuclear Site

It is worthy to note that when they first allowed these inspectors into their sites a couple of years ago they allowed inspections of all but one, and then some months later allowed the inspectors into that site while refusing them entry to another. Smells fishy to me, how about you?

If over the intervening years Iran has managed to make sufficient nuclear material for a bomb, what would they do with it?

Their two main enemies are Israel, and as stated on many an occasion, the United States of America. So if you were them, and had a secret nuclear bomb what would you do with it?

Tactics

Tactics

The whole idea of Iran becoming a nuclear nation is a horrific one, for being a staunch Islamic nation which has shown its hatred for the West on many occasions, with atomic weapons it is capable of anything.  Iran has been a very active supporter of terrorist groups across the world, supplying them with arms and funds for their inhuman activities, so who is to say they will not provide someone like al Quada or Islamic State with a nuclear weapon?

A Terrorists Dream

A Terrorists Dream

There are without doubt more than enough terrorist organizations that would love to have a nuclear weapon, no matter how crude. They make no secret about who their enemies are, and would love the chance to blow up Tel Aviv or New York for example. Who is to say Iran would not initiate a devastating nuclear attack on Israel, their sworn enemy?

'Diplomacy' At Work

‘Diplomacy’ At Work

Iran as a nuclear nation would also be a great threat in the Middle East, for it would give them control, and if you remember, that’s where most of the world’s oil comes from.

This insistence by Iran that all sanctions are lifted as soon as the agreement is signed could spell the end of the negotiations. It remains to be seen if the western powers will cave in to this, but if they do it will set a dangerous precedent.

Rebuilding Gaza – Again!

Posted in America, Britain, England, European Union, Gaza and Hamas, Iran, Israel, News, Palestine, Terrorism with tags , , , , on 17/10/2014 by floroy1942

Once again many nations are talking about donations to rebuild Gaza after the last few months of their war with Israel. So far around $5.7 billion has been raised by donations from countries like the USA, Britain, Qatar, Kuwait, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and many others. It is well known that countries are very quick to promise large donations in time of need, but sadly many do not fulfil their promises.

Leaders Gather To Discuss Donations For Rebuilding Gaza

Leaders Gather To Discuss Donations For Rebuilding Gaza

But the main concern of everyone is that after the rebuilding programme is completed at some date in the future, Hamas will once again provoke Israel into retaliatory action, and more damage will be caused. Following the 2008 and 2012 confrontations, this is the third time donations have been made to restore Gaza’s infrastructure.

Hamas Missile Ranges in Israel

Hamas Missile Ranges in Israel

The problem is that Hamas will not accept Israel as a nation, and attack when they have built up sufficient resources. This last spat was also the fault of Hamas who began attacking Israel with rockets fired from within Gaza, and what else would anyone expect Israel to do in such circumstances but retaliate. Who would accept rockets raining down on their towns and cities and do nothing about it? You? I doubt it!

How The World Sees The Situation

How The World Sees The Situation

Their strategy has always been the same, provoke Israeli retaliation and then use the calculated deaths among the civilian population to gain world sympathy for their cause. The sad thing is, people are so gullible as to believe the lies they spread, and Israel gets all the blame.

Hamas Civilian Shields

Hamas Civilian Shields

Hamas Launch Sites In Populated Area

Hamas Launch Sites In Populated Area

It is true the damage to Gaza has been severe and the casualties among the population high, but then you have to ask why? The simple answer is the tactic of Hamas to fire their rockets from the middle of built-up areas, by schools and hospitals.

Different Part Of Town, Same Picture.

Different Part Of Town, Same Picture.

Aerial photo’s have proven this to be true so no-one can dispute this fact. It is true the Israeli counter-attacks have caused a lot of damage to the infrastructure of Gaza which must be repaired, but so long as Hamas is in existence there will be no end to the fighting, and it will erupt again in the future unless an agreement is signed.

Self Explanatory.

Self Explanatory.

The big problem for the current donors is, what happens to the money when it is handed over? It is well known that the Hamas leaders are all billionaires, and when you consider they all started with nothing when they stopped being a terrorist organization and became the government of Gaza, it must make you wonder where all the donations went. On top of that, for years supplies of cement and other building materials have been donated to Gaza but most of it was diverted into building the myriad of tunnels Hamas used in this last attack, and for smuggling arms into Gaza.

So Where Did All The Concrete And Wiring Come From - Take A Guess!

So Where Did All The Concrete And Wiring Come From – Take A Guess!

All of them were lined with with concrete, and had electric lights with tracks for trolley’s for moving equipment. The Israeli soldiers, and international observers, were quite surprised at the sophistication of the ones they found. It was estimated at the time that each one would have cost around $1 million to build, so you have to ask, where did the money come from?

Iran Attempts Arms Smuggling

Iran Attempts Arms Smuggling To Gaza

Well, considering the financial state of Gaza there can be only once answer, the international rebuilding donations! This money, handed over in good faith for rebuilding the infrastructure of Gaza for the people was siphoned off for the Hamas war effort, and to make its leaders ultra-rich! Hamas had managed to acquire over one thousand rockets for this last confrontation with Israel, and you should ask how they got them.

Smuggling Tunnels From Egypt

Smuggling Tunnels From Egypt

It is clear they were smuggled in through the many tunnels that exist on the border with Egypt. It is not hard to suppose they were provided by Iran who has always been a close ally of Hamas. It is true that Hamas manufactured many crude rockets themselves, but they still needed the parts to make them.

Hamas Kills Their Own People

Hamas Kills Their Own People

These ‘home made’ rockets fired by Hamas were of poor quality. Many failed and actually landed in Gaza killing many of their own people, but they still blamed the Israeli’s.

Hamas Training Children

Hamas Training Children

So far as a new outbreak of violence is concerned, we will have to wait until Hamas has spent the donations meant for the people on acquiring new arms and stockpiling them until they have enough.

So the sad truth is, all the attacks on Israel in the past have been financed by western nations making donations to ease the plight of the Palestinian people, and that is apart from making the leaders of Hamas multi-billionaires. Makes you think doesn’t it!

Confused By Politics – Let Me Explain

Posted in America, Britain, European Union, Insurgents, Iran, Islamic Revolution, News, Terrorism, United Nations, USA with tags , , , , on 01/09/2014 by floroy1942

For those of you who are confused by the current politics in the Middle East let me explain:

We support the Iraqi government in the fight against ISIS.

We don’t like ISIS, but ISIS is supported by Saudi Arabia who we do like.

We don’t like Assad in Syria and we support the fight against him, but ISIS is also fighting against him

We don’t like Iran, but Iran supports the Iraqi government in its fight against ISIS.

So some of our friends support our enemies

Some enemies are now our friends and some of our enemies are fighting against our other enemies, who we want to lose.

We don’t, however, want our enemies who are fighting our enemies to win.

If the people we want to defeat are defeated, they could be replaced by people we like even less.

And, all this was started by us invading a country to drive out terrorists who were not actually there until we went in to drive them out!

It’s quite simple, really. I hope that clears everything up for you.

My thanks to the friend who sent this to me, and to the anonymous writer.

What Will Gaza Gain With The ICC?

Posted in Gaza and Hamas, Human Rights, Insurgents, Iran, Israel, Muslim, News, Palestine, Terrorists, United Nations with tags , , , , on 24/08/2014 by floroy1942

You would hardly credit that the lies and deceit surrounding Gaza could get any worse, but if you thought that you would be wrong. It has been revealed today that the Hamas leaders have given their consent for Palestine to join the International Criminal Court (ICC).

ICC - Den Haag Holland

ICC – Den Haag Holland

This international body investigates war crimes by any nation that is a member, be it against them or committed by them. Opening up the Gaza crisis to the ICC could cause many problems for all nations concerned in the on-going war. Israel is not a member of this body so any investigations would be for Gaza alone.

This in my view would lead to an extremely one-sided investigation. Knowing the penchant of Hamas to weave their usual web of lies, it would inevitably in my opinion lead to Israel taking the blame for everything that has happened. This would be grossly unfair.

Typical Hamas Propaganda Loved By The Press

Typical Hamas Propaganda Loved By The Press

A large part of the problem is the bias against Israel shown by the World Press. You may have noticed that they make a big play of child casualties in Gaza: ” Ten people killed, including four young children and two babies!” And yet when it comes to reporting on the Ukraine, Iraq or Nigeria etc. there is no mention of child casualties, just: “Ten people killed in latest attack!” Doesn’t this difference strike you as odd? Take a moment to think about it! Civilian casualties have, and always will be Hamas’s biggest propaganda weapon which they have used to great effect for many years.

So you have to ask what sort of impact this will make on the ICC. Will they look at the continuous provocation Israel has had to endure like this last time, when rockets (once again) rained down on their towns and villages without warning?

Hamas Forcing Families Back Into Their Homes After Israeli Warning

Will they look at the fact that Hamas ordered civilians at the point of a gun to stay in their homes when Israel, wishing to minimise civilian casualties, had warned them to get out of the area prior to an attack?

Will they look at the fact that Hamas has been storing rockets inside hospitals and UN buildings, and firing them from the grounds?

Israeli Leaflet Drop

Israeli Leaflet Drop

Will they take into consideration that Hamas has repeatedly fired rockets into Israel from the middle of heavily populated areas?

A politician once said in a TV interview that “Israel has the Iron Dome for protection and Hamas has civilians!” We are constantly bombarded by the Press with images of dead and wounded children but that does not make everything they say true. It just means they believe those images will attract attention from the masses. Sadly, many people are taken in by this steady flow of Hamas propaganda and so we have demonstrations against Israel on the streets daily.

It is time for the people of the world to look past the headlines and look at the reality of the situation. I will never say that Israel is totally blameless in this whole affair, but they have done what they can to minimise civilian casualties, like giving prior warnings through leaflet drops to the inhabitants prior to a bombing raid. And do not forget that it was Hamas who started this latest conflict by firing rockets into Israel without warning.

Planned Hamas Attack On Israel Villages

Planned Hamas Attack On Israel Villages

One further event that the Press did not cover accurately is the purpose of the many tunnels under the border into Israel. These were made so that a large Hamas force could surround Israel border villages blow up occupied kindergartens and schools, kill as many Israeli villagers as possible, and take hundreds of hostages back to Gaza.  I have covered these in events in my post of 6/8/14:

https://floroy1942.wordpress.com/2014/08/06/the-hard-hitting-truth-about-gaza/

For those of you who have not read it, believe me, it is an eye opener into the real intentions of Hamas. The sad thing is, none of this was reported in the Press or on the TV News.

People today are being taken in by the Hamas propaganda, and because the Press are so one-sided, they have no idea of the true nature of the crimes being committed here. Will the ICC get to the bottom of this, I doubt it because everyone thinks Israel is the big villain here simply because the truth has not been reported.

A thorough investigation would hand 90% of the blame to Hamas and their insurgent groups for what has happened in Palestine, but I doubt very much that the end result will be just.

Hamas Vision Of An Israeli Kindergarten

Hamas Vision Of An Israeli Kindergarten

I am in no way making excuses for Israel and I have no affiliation with that country, I just hate to see the people of the world hoodwinked by a bunch of savage uncaring terrorists.

The people of Gaza live in squalor, Yet, all the leaders of Hamas are multi-billionaire’s with money that was given to the people by Aid Organizations. The construction of all the tunnels (+/- 1 Million dollars each) was carried out using aid money donated by various causes instead of being put to help the people.

In any normal society one would expect aid money to be spent building houses, and improving the living standards of the people, but not in Gaza! As has been proven, most of it is siphoned off to build the tunnels, and of course into the pockets of the leadership of Hamas. If you wish to know more on this subject I refer you to:

https://floroy1942.wordpress.com/2014/08/12/who-are-the-billionaires-of-gaza-hamas/

It must be said that Iran is one of the guilty parties in this war because they supply Hamas with their weapons.

In order to end the hostilities Hamas demands an end to the Israeli blockade of Gaza, But that will just open the door for Hamas to bring in large shipments of arms and rockets as in the past. The blockade was put in place to stop this flow of arms into Gaza in the first place.

Arab League - Why The Silence?

Arab League – Why The Silence?

The one amazing thing about this whole Gaza episode is the silence and unwillingness of the other Arab States to get involved in providing a political solution to this problem. With the exception of Iran, who is supporting Hamas with weapons, and Egypt who is mediating to try and resolve the issue, not a single Arab State has made any effort to come to a political agreement with Israel to solve the on-going crisis. I find their stony silence most disconcerting. The same is true with the current insurgent problems across the whole Middle East and Africa.

If the ICC do get involved in the Gaza dispute I can see nothing good coming out of it, because like all the Press reviews, it will be heavily biased in favour of Hamas as they too are taken in by the propaganda machine that functions so well for these terrorists.

Israel itself will not be swayed by any ruling the ICC makes because they are fighting for the safety of their own people against those who want to destroy them.

Any real peace can only be achieved if Israel stops building on Palestinian territory, and withdraws to its 1964 borders as ordered by the United Nations. For Israel to go back to its original 1947 borders would mean the country becoming indefensible from attack.

Israel's Borders

Israel’s Borders

However, this slow swallowing up of Palestinian land beyond the 1967 borders by Israel with their settlement programme is without doubt the catalyst of all the trouble between Israel and its neighbours and must stop.

The term ‘possession is nine tenths of the law’ cannot be applied in such circumstances, for this conflict will go on and on and more people will die.

The Hypocrisy of The Israel/Hamas Conflict

Posted in America, Arab, Britain, European Union, Gaza and Hamas, Iran, Israel, News, Religion, Terrorism with tags , , , , on 13/07/2014 by floroy1942
Hamas Rocket Attack

Hamas Rocket Attack

Once again we see the complete hypocrisy of the Press when it comes to fighting between Israel and Hamas in Gaza. It’s really the same old story of Hamas firing rockets into Israel and then the Israeli’s fight back, but all we hear in the news and tabloids is “Those Poor Palestinians”.

As usual the papers and news reports are all about the number of Palestinian civilians especially children, killed or wounded with a one-line mention of the Israeli casualties. There have not been many because Hamas couldn’t hit a bull in the fanny with a bag of rice as Frank Sinatra once said. I even saw one report greatly emphasizing that a disabled Palestinian child had been killed in an Israeli attack – huge emphasis on disabled!

Typical biased reporting:

What Would YOU Do?

What Would YOU Do?

It is high time the Press in general got the point that Hamas start these conflicts to deliberately provoke the retaliation that inevitably follows from Israel. It is part of their tactic to gain headlines, and most of all, sympathy from the simple-minded among us, of which there are many.

The truth is, if they did not fire the rockets, Israel would have no reason to attack them. This is part of the propaganda war that has been going on for decades in the Middle East. Hamas don’t care a fig for the number of their citizens who get killed in these spats because they are getting what they want: World Sympathy!

Rocket ThreatYou can bet your life Hamas will call for a ceasefire very soon, but not for the reasons you suppose. It will be because they have used up their entire stock of rockets and need to rearm. Once again rockets will be smuggled into Gaza by way of the tunnels from Egyptian territory, and when they have sufficient, it will start all over again. This scenario has been repeated more than a dozen times over the last decade, but still many outsiders, including the Press, are too dumb to see it.

Time to wake up and smell the coffee people, your sympathy for Hamas is playing right into their hands. So far as the Palestinian people are concerned, they voted in the terrorist Hamas to govern them and they are the ones who can get them out. They could have put an end to all this unnecessary suffering by demanding an election for a new government.

Israel's Iron Dome Protection.

Israel’s Iron Dome Protection.

Hamas is not willing to enter into negotiations for peace unless they can carry their guns to the table. They want to destroy Israel and return Palestine back to its pre-1948 borders. This will never happen, but their continued fight against Israel does get them money, aid and arms from sympathetic states like Iran.

It is clear that neither America, Britain, Europe or the United Nations can stop the bloodshed until Hamas is willing to negotiate.

So long as a terrorist organization like Hamas controls Gaza there is no hope of peace between the Palestinians and Israel, and you can take that to the bank! Many are dismayed at the Israeli attacks against these people, but look at it this way, if you kept getting bitten by a mosquito would leave it alone or take a swipe at it? I believe the answer lies in the latter!

As a final note, let me say that I am not Israeli, and I have no preference for either side in this dispute. I just think we need some balanced reporting on such subjects.

It’s time for a bit of common sense on this issue!

Iraq’s Future In The Balance?

Posted in Afghanistan, America, Britain, England, Insurgents, Iran, News, Taliban, Terrorism, Terrorists with tags , , , , on 13/06/2014 by floroy1942

Recent events in Iraq could prove catastrophic for stability in the Middle East if a positive stance is not taken by the Iraqi government against jihadists threatening the capital. To me, the chances of that are not certain and could result in an insurgent group ISIS, gaining control of the whole country. I hope I am wrong. Their aim is to carve out a Sunni enclave that would take in parts of Syria and a huge swathe of Iraq.

Tikrit Iraq

Tikrit Iraq

For the past year this insurgent group has steadily made territorial gains in both Syria and Iraq. Recently they took control of Falluja and parts of Ramadi, and last Tuesday they topped that off by taking Mosul, and now Tikrit. Their chances of holding on to the Syrian enclave seem to be pretty slim for the forces under Assad are far stronger, backed as they are by Hezbollah and other militant groups.

Mosul - Iraq's Second Largest City

Mosul – Iraq’s Second Largest City

As everyone now knows, Mosul is the second largest city in Iraq and ISIS took it with ease. They also met little or no resistance during their takeover of Tikrit that lies just 150km from the capital Baghdad. Since this latest victory they have made it known that they will attack the capital very soon. If that happens they may possibly gain control over the whole country.

Maliki Iraq's Prime Minister

Nouri Maliki Iraq’s Prime Minister

The Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Maliki, is being blamed by all sides for this upsurge in violence. He has alienated many of the Sunni tribal leaders and been accused of huge scale corruption. For example, the police and army were allowed to sell positions and promotions while competent commanders were by-passed and Maliki loyalists were given key roles.

Ethnic Groups in Iraq

Ethnic Groups in Iraq

Iraqi Army In Action

Iraqi Army In Action

In Mosul and Tikrit the Iraqi Army made little or no attempt to stop the insurgents but in fact ran away, much to the disgust of many. This despite the fact the USA gave training and equipment to the Iraqi Army worth $25 billion during the occupation. They are not what I would call an effective army even though it has a million men. This is due in part to very poor leadership. Whether they will be up to the task of clearing out the insurgents remains to be seen.

Death Rate in Iraq By Year

Death Rate in Iraq By Year

Casualties to date have been in the hundreds, and are for the most part civilians. After the takeover of Mosul and Tikrit the insurgents have carried out summary executions of civilians for reasons unknown at this time. Deaths throughout the conflict in Iraq have been huge and in recent months they have risen steadily.

Baghdad - People Living In Fear

Baghdad – People Living In Fear

There is at the moment a climate of fear in Baghdad as the population anticipate an attack by ISIS.  It is reported that citizens are stocking up on food and all eyes are glued to the radio and TV news programs to catch the latest news.

The real danger is that if ISIS gain control of the country they will use the fact to their own advantage as an insurgent group. If this scenario takes place it will be the second time a jihadist group has ruled a country. The first was the Taliban who ruled in Afghanistan with ruthless force until NATO Forces kicked them out.

Life Under The Taliban

Life Under The Taliban

In my view, as soon as all NATO forces have left Afghanistan, that will be the next country to fall to a terrorist group. The Taliban will begin moves to take over the country again, and if ISIS win Iraq, they will have all the assistance they need, for the largest religious group there is also Sunni.

In such a situation, the world will be faced with two Middle East countries under the command of insurgent groups with a sworn duty to destroy the West. Not a very good prospect. This will also give these groups a powerhouse for operations against other Arab countries where we have already recorded unrest among the Sunni populations.

Sunni JokeNaturally, part of this is the internal fight in Muslim territories of Shi’ite against Shia, two different sects within Islam. You could compare it to Protestants against Catholics in western countries.

Demonstrations In Bahrain

Demonstrations In Bahrain

ISIS, or the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant which grew from an off-shoot of al Quada, are Sunni’s and wish to wrest control of the country from its Shia government. Once they are established, this could lead to future problems in Gulf States like Bahrain which is mainly Sunni, but with a Shi’ite ruling class.

If the insurgents do in fact take over both Iraq and Afghanistan they will become a major Sunni political power base within Arabic countries in the Middle East. It is by no means a huge stretch of the imagination to understand that many Arab countries with a Sunni population majority could then rise up against their Shi’ite masters. Should any state wish to do this they will have willing help, and manpower, from the insurgents in Iraq and Afghanistan. These groups may even take the initiative themselves and create the foundations for an uprising. It would not be the first time they have done this.

Iran/IraqA further complication is that Iran has said it will not allow ISIS to gain control for it will be against their own interests. In Iran around 90% of the population is Shia and they will not want a Sunni state being born on their doorstep. Other Middle East countries have either a Shia majority or are governed by a minority Shia government. They will also not want to see Sunni insurgents setting up their own state, knowing no doubt what could follow.

The United States has already indicated they do not wish to re-enter the fight in either Iraq or Afghanistan and I can understand that for there is much hatred in these countries against America. There is talk at this time of providing further equipment aid to the Iraqi government, and the possibility of air strikes against selected targets.

Iraqi Air Force Single-Engined Cessna Aircraft Armed With Hellfire Missiles

Iraqi Air Force Single-Engined Cessna Aircraft Armed With Hellfire Missiles

The Iraqi Air Force  is a complete shambles with little or no aircraft, and can therefore not be relied upon to play any major role in the fight, except perhaps for attacks by armed helicopters. So far the idea of American ‘boots on the ground’ has been ruled out, however the government is said to be looking at ‘all options’.

UN In Iraq

Past UN Presence In Iraq

I would certainly not rule out this being possible sometime in the future if these groups do manage to gain full control. If ISIS are successful, then we may well see another United Nations Force operating in both Iraq and Afghanistan with the express purpose of routing the insurgents before they cause too much mayhem in other countries.

Jihad

Jihad

The rest of the world can only sit back and hope that the Iraqi Army is strong enough to drive these jihadists out of the country once and for all, and the government works towards uniting the people of Iraq into one nation again. Even if that happens, the threat from these militants will be far from over, for they have more than enough places in the world to sow the seeds of discontent, and enough fools who will listen.

It is my fervent hope that all jihadists and militants sleep well tonight, forget to wake up in the morning, and enter a state of eternal sleep!

Should The USA/UK Interfere In Syria?

Posted in Al Quada, America, Arab, Britain, Iran, Obama, Politics, UK, United Nations, USA with tags , , , , on 25/08/2013 by floroy1942

Many of the current headlines indicate that both the American President and our Prime Minister are building up to military intervention in Syria in an attempt to stop the use of chemical weapons. An extremely laudable idea, but is it wise? The Syrian crisis has caused the death of thousands of Syrian people since it began, and there have been suspicions that chemical weapons have been used on several occasions and each side is blaming the other. It is without doubt a serious situation and the end of the conflict is nowhere in sight.

Syria Gas Attacks

Syria Gas Attacks

It is perhaps time that an outside force moved in to stop the violence, but the USA and the UK again? I am sure that would not go down well with other Arab countries especially after the intervention in Iraq and Afghanistan. These two invasions caused much hatred of the USA and the UK in the Arab world, which resulted in bomb attacks in New York, London and Madrid. Admittedly the intervention in Afghanistan was UN sponsored, but still caused resentment from the people because the bulk of the forces were either American or British.

It Is The Rebels Who Are Using Chemical Weapons.

It Is The Rebels Who Are Using Chemical Weapons.

Syria is most assuredly a difficult problem, for American and British intervention would be significant in stopping the needless bloodshed of the Syrian people and save thousands of lives, but must be weighed against the resentment created from other nations.  Iran in particular has warned against such action by saying publicly that ‘the US should not to cross the “red line” on Syria’, adding that such an action, ‘would have “severe consequences”, What those consequences are is anyone’s guess, for unless it resorts to terrorist practices it cannot really strike at the USA.

The Silent Arab Union States

The Silent Arab Union States

What I do find rather mystifying is the silence of the Arab Union states on the question of Syria. Occasionally one or other politician comes out with a half-hearted request for Assad to stop fighting and negotiate a peace deal, but other than that they have remained relatively silent. I would have expected more concrete action from this Arab version of the UN, like embargo’s and real pressure on both sides in Syria to stop fighting, and more importantly, killing innocent civilians. Sadly, they seem a pale reminder of the real UN which has become nothing more than a talking shop these days.

It remains to be seen if the UN will finally take positive action to stop the slaughter in Syria, but after two years, I for one am not hopeful. In political language, the strongest condemnation of the Assad regime has come from President Obama and Prime Minister Cameron this last week, who were quoted as saying, “they were “gravely concerned” about the situation. This is two steps up from ‘concerned’, which is followed by ‘seriously concerned’ in political speak and which indicates they are very unhappy.

Ayman al-Zawahri - Current al Quada Leader

Ayman al-Zawahri – Current al Quada Leader

We can be fairly certain that if an American/British force take any part in the Syria conflict it will not go down well with the terrorist groups who are looking for any excuse to have another go at us. The al Quada leaders, and every radical Muslim cleric will use it as an excuse to whip up more hatred of the West, and is sure to encourage more young Muslims to enlist as suicide bombers or become fighters. We could see a new wave of bombing attacks, much like London, Madrid and Boston on the cards, and for what, perhaps solving a problem that should be sorted out by the other Arab nations.

Syrian Rebels

Syrian Rebels

Apart from the occasional mild verbal exchange, countries like Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain etc. have done nothing, even though this conflict is happening on their doorstep so to speak, and is a fellow Arab country. They have all steadfastly distance themselves from the entire scenario. Other Arab countries like Iraq and Egypt are not in a position to give an opinion on the Syria conflict for they have internal problems of their own, and interesting to note that other Arab countries are staying out of those problems too. Its like they don’t want to take any responsibility for actions taken to stop these conflicts, but are happy to sit on the side-lines and let the West handle them, and I might add, get all the criticism.

Chemical Gas Attack Victims

Chemical Gas Attack Victims

The only Arab country to so far voice any strong opinions is Iran. This should come as no surprise to anyone for they will use any excuse to have a go at the West, especially America. Another factor is that they are most certainly supplying arms to Syria so do not want to ‘upset the apple cart’ and hit their profits. Another advantage for them is that it is successfully diverting world attention away from their own nuclear ambitions. Notice that there has been practically no mention of Iran’s nuclear ambitions in the world press for months now as everyone concentrates on getting the most they can out of the Syria story!

The UN - All Teeth But No Bite!

The UN – All Teeth But No Bite!

It would seem to me that the only way the world can put a stop to this situation is for the Untied Nations to start acting in the way first intended by its founder, Winston Churchill. At least half the world’s nations should contribute to a UN Force that will go in and separate the two sides and negotiate a peace deal. It should not be left up to America and Britain to supply the greatest bulk of the forces as happened in Iraq and Afghanistan. Nations should be strongly represented by at least a thousand men and associated equipment, although smaller countries would provide something proportionate to their size and available military forces. There are at least 189 independent countries in the world (estimates vary) which means, discounting the very small ones, something in the region of perhaps 150,000 man UN Force could be assembled, which would be more than enough to control Syria. It is quite possible that even the threat of such a move would be sufficient to stop the fighting. Strong UN intervention would not only stop the civil war, but also, if it is proven that Assad actually used chemical weapons then he and his generals could be brought before a UN court to face justice. Naturally, if it was in fact the rebels then they would face justice.

The Russian Fleet Harbour In Syria

The Russian Fleet Harbour In Syria

Naturally, none of this will ever happen for several reasons. Instead of being a force for peace and justice in the world as was originally envisaged, The UN has become nothing more than a toothless tiger, a talking shop where politicians the world over can debate for endless hours without taking any decisions, and do not need to take action on anything. Another reason is the veto exercised by both Russia and China to protect their own investments and trade with the Assad regime. Russia fears it will lose not only billions of dollars worth of trade and arms sales to Syria, but also its only naval base outside the Black Sea. China on the other hand also has a multi-billion trade deal with the Assad regime.

Ethiopian Soldiers Fighting In Korea

Ethiopian Soldiers Fighting In Korea

I can already hear the comments of some bright person who will say that to assemble an international force on the scale laid out above will be nigh on impossible because of the logistics involved. So are we saying that our grandfathers were more capable than we are today, given what they had to work with at the time? The same thing happened with the Korean War in which 22 nations took part, even tiny Luxemburg. That was the only time when the UN acted as it is supposed to do and it stopped the whole of the Korean peninsular becoming like the North is today. Given our much increased logistic capabilities today why can we not make it happen? There are sufficient assembly areas in neighbouring countries like Jordan and Turkey and a two pronged attack is a good way to go if the two sides do not lay down their arms. The forces stay until peace has been established and an interim government is installed, and then leave.

It sounds simple and I know it is not, but this is the only way for the UN to resolve disputes when war breaks out and ensure that the nations on Earth can live in peace with each other.

There can be little doubt that if America and Britain, even with the help of the French, were to ‘invade’ Syria the repercussions could be significant, and drive yet another wedge between the Muslims and Western countries.

Roy.

News Flash:-

Its amazing how just a few short hours can change things. Since I posted this article the US and Britain, along with France have stated that they are planning military action against the Assad regime within the next two weeks according to The Independent. The action will most likely be restricted to missile strikes from the US Carrier Force stationed in the Eastern Mediterranean on strategic government targets in Syria.

William Hague - Britain's Foreign Minister

William Hague – Britain’s Foreign Minister

The British Foreign Minister, William Hague, has said, “We cannot in the 21st century allow the idea that chemical weapons can be used with impunity and there are no consequences,” Another  Downing Street source said: “We intend to show that an attack of this nature will not pass without a serious response.”

American Carrier Fleet

American Carrier Fleet

At this time it is anticipated that all strikes will be with missiles and no ground troops or aircraft will be employed. Although the action will come from the American Naval Fleet, both Britain and France stand together with America politically in this action. Should the strike actually take place, we can all expect a reaction from Iran which can range from threats to subversive action, and there is a likely possibility of terrorist reprisal.

This step has been taken because of the four day delay by Syrian government forces in allowing the UN Inspection Team on the ground to visit and assess the area of the latest outrage. The three leaders are convinced this delay was to allow Assad forces time to remove incriminating evidence.

North Korea and Iran – The Sanctions Farce

Posted in Al Quada, America, Iran, Israel, North Korea, Nuclear Proliferation, Nuclear Weapons, Terrorism, UK, United Nations, USA with tags , , on 15/02/2013 by floroy1942

Both North Korea and Iran have upset the international community for years with their unending attempts to produce nuclear weapons, and it seems all the UN can do is impose sanctions against them. It is all very complicated, but in a nutshell, these mainly include banning weapons sales to North Korea and Iran, stopping aircraft or ships on the high seas bound for either country that is suspected of carrying military equipment or weapons, and preventing the travel of any person associated with the arms trade in these countries. The laughable thing about these sanctions is that the UN cannot really enforce any of them, and all countries are not given real power to do so but must do it on their own initiative!

North Korea Missile Test

North Korea Missile Test

In each case, the UN roundly condemns their actions and is demanding that both countries return to the negotiating table, refrain from further research and tests, and basically, cease all ‘provocative’ action related to nuclear weapons. Both countries take no notice of this at all. This is viewed by many as nothing more than a slap on the wrist, for the UN seems totally incapable of taking any concertive action in this matter.

Many countries have taken unilateral action against both nations, for example, apart from the weapons bans in place, Australia, Japan, South Korea, India, Israel, Switzerland, the EU and the United States have all put restrictions on the travel of business people in the country associated with that countries nuclear programme. Some countries have put an economic freeze in place by blocking, in the case of Iran for example, the foreign activities of the Bank of Iran and a ban on Iranian oil imports.

For obvious reasons this is but a snap-shot of the depth of the sanctions placed on North Korea and Iran, but the most important point is none of them are having any affect. North Korea is still carrying out nuclear tests and long-range missile development, and the only ones suffering are the poor people. In Iran it is almost impossible to buy imported luxury goods and oil revenues are down, but who the hell cares, “we are on the way to becoming a nuclear nation and sanctions will not stop us” they say!

Iran Missile Test

Iran Missile Test

When it comes down to it, both countries want to be able to stand up to ‘Uncle Sam’, and hence the nuclear weapons and long-range missiles. What these people fail to realize is that if they returned to peaceful ways they wouldn’t need to, because America among others would not be breathing down their necks every day. All they are doing by pursuing this course is to put world peace in danger.

It has been said often enough that countries like Israel and the USA may well take preventative action against Iran if it persists in its desire to have a nuclear weapon and the means to deliver it. In this respect North Korea is a bigger danger because of its huge army, and any provocation could send it hurtling into the South.

The danger from this problem is all around us, but so far no-one has been able to take any meaningful action to stop its escalation, certainly not the UN talking shop.

We could well be on the verge of a new world-wide nuclear arms race, for if North Korea eventually gets  both a nuclear weapon and a viable long-range missile it stands to reason that countries like Japan and South Korea among others will want them too. If Iran reaches its goal, what is to stop many other Middle East states from wanting the same thing for protection?

It would seem to this simple soul that a complete turnaround is required. The UN and all its members should perhaps ask North Korea to sign a proper peace agreement with the South that finally closes the Korean War chapter, in return they would receive full financial and domestic aid to rid the country of its poverty without meddling in its internal political system. If countries could pour billions of dollars into the country and ‘bring it into the 21st century’ it would enrich the lives of every man woman and child, and Kim Jong Un would be immortalised for bringing true prosperity to the nation. Yea! I know, sounds too far-fetched but worth a try?

Iranian Nuclear Sites

Iranian Nuclear Sites

Iran is of course a totally different situation because it is already a prosperous nation, so what could we do for them? Well, for a start we could stop threatening them and give them assurances they will be left in peace to prosper as they wish. I don’t pretend to have all the answers, but maybe the first step is to ask them what they want in exchange for the cessation of their nuclear activities. But the one trouble with this prickly nation is its involvement with terrorist organizations such as al Quada and Hezbollah to whom they have long been known to give their backing.

It’s a very difficult situation with currently no end in sight, but one thing is for sure, sanctions are not going to bring these two belligerents to the negotiating table, far from it, it is likely to make them more determined. Perhaps it will take every nation on the planet to line up its guns, tanks and combat aircraft on the borders of these two countries and threaten to invade before they will listen, but the chances of that happening are zero I should imagine. Either way, I hope someone comes up with a sane idea to end the standoff before we all become embroiled in another war the likes of which we have never experienced. Suggestions anyone?

Israel Is Pushing The Limits

Posted in America, Arab, Europe, Iran, Israel, Netanyahu, Nuclear Weapons, Security Council, United Nations, USA with tags , , , , on 20/12/2012 by floroy1942

This latest step by the Israeli government to build yet more homes on Palestinian land leaves Hamas and the Palestinian people with yet another axe to grind. Israel consistently says it is willing to negotiate with them  over the formation of a two-state plan, but as everyone knows, these are empty words for what they mean is: We will negotiate a solution on our terms alone and the people of Palestine can do nothing but agree.

Israeli Settlement Growth

Israeli Settlement Growth

Although illegal occupation began in 1948, there has been an explosion of new settlements over the last twenty-seven years, and between 1993 and 2004 the number of inhabitants in illegal settlements almost doubled. Currently there are 516,569 people living on land that belongs to the Palestinians according to the United Nations agreement that Israel’s borders should be fixed as they were before the 1967 war.

However, it is not only the settlements that are causing problems, for because of them huge tracts of Palestinian land have been closed to the people of Palestine and many villages have been removed by the Israeli government for ‘Security Reasons’. The proposed next phase of building to the east of Jerusalem will cut Arab Palestine in half, and forget not that Gaza is already isolated from the rest of the country.

The Growth of Israel

The Shrinking Palestinian Lands (Green)

To me there can be little doubt the Israeli aim is to take over the whole of Palestine ‘by stealth’ as it were. By continuing to build on occupied land they are not only robbing the Palestinian people of their homeland, but eventually subjugating them to Israeli rule. For having ‘colonized’ the entire country they will have built an Israeli State for beyond its legal boundaries which means the Palestinians will have no other option but to become permanent refugees without a homeland, or live under Israeli rule.

Ban Ki Moon recently issued yet another communique condemning these new settlements, but as usual it fell on deaf ears. The Israeli government has no intention of listening to anyone, least of all the U.N. ‘Talking Shop’. Successive attempts have been made over the years in an attempt to get Israel to withdraw to its 1967 borders, but all to  no avail. What is more, it will continue so until its most powerful ally, the United States, withdraws it backing. So long as the Americans continue to put their weight behind the Israeli government there will be no change.

This in itself is a thorny issue, for any United States President or government that withdraws its backing for Israel will commit political suicide, such is the power of the Jewish lobby in American politics.

Israel is in an unenviable position, hemmed in on all sides by Arab countries and although an uneasy peace has reigned since the Yom Kippur war of 1973, there have been a total of eight ‘mini-wars’ with Hamas from Gaza and Hezbollah of Lebanon, but on the international front all has been quiet.

New Settlement

New Settlement

There can be little doubt that so long as the Israeli’s continue to build on Arab land there will be no lasting peace in the Middle East. If they continue to ‘swallow’ Palestine, eventually a breaking point will be reached and all of Islam may decide to end the existence of Israel once and for all time. This becomes much more of a possibility if Iran does eventually get ‘the bomb’.

Should the international community fail to take positive action to prevent this Islamic State from gaining nuclear weapons and the means to deliver them, all hell will break loose in the Middle East, and places like Tel Aviv, Hebron and Haifa could end up as nothing more than smoking holes in the ground.

Surrounded On All Sides.

Surrounded On All Sides.

The Israeli government is playing a risky game, relying on the fact that any country that attacks them will be repulsed by their superior forces, and in the event of nuclear weapons being used the USA will come in on their side. Any American involvement would naturally bring in the European Union, bound as it is to America by its NATO Agreements. I dread to think of such consequences.

As things stand at the moment, there is no solution in sight so long as the Israeli government remains intransigent on the issue of Palestine, and the United Nations remains unable to take any positive action because of the American veto which it has exercised 82 times since 1947, most in connection with Israel.

How it will all end is anyone’s guess, but for sure the Israeli’s will not return to their pre-1967 borders, and the likes of Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran will not back down on the issue.

Gaza Erupts Once Again – But Who Is To Blame?

Posted in America, Britain, Germany, Iran, Israel, Palestine, UK, United Nations, USA with tags , , , , on 17/11/2012 by floroy1942

Once again trouble has flared up between the Palestinians in Gaza and Israel, and who is getting all the blame – Israel naturally. But are the Israeli’s really to blame? Sorry, but I don’t think so. As in many times in the past the Israeli government reacted to provocation by the Palestinian insurgents in the only way they could without a full scale invasion.

A Palestinian Casualty – So Loved By The Media

The newsreel pictures of injured women and children so loved by the media have once again played into the hands of the militants in this propaganda war, which as usual is turning people’s hatred against Israel. I heard on EuroNews yesterday how they made meat of the fact that two of the victims from one Israeli air attack were a child and a pregnant woman – trumpet fanfare please!!!! On most news channels there is no more than a split-second mention of the Israeli dead and injured and the videos are all about Palestinian casualties. It’s all part of the Hamas propaganda war and millions of people are swallowing it ‘hook line and sinker’.

Target Austin, Düsseldorf or Newcastle?

So let me put this to you – If you are an American citizen, would you applaud or decry a military response if Mexican militants fired rockets on San Antonio, Corpus Christi or Austin in Texas? If you lived in England how would you feel if Scottish nationalists started raining missiles down on Newcastle? If you lived in France, Holland or Germany would you allow a missile attack on one of your cities or towns from across the border? I am fairly sure that the answer to all these questions would be a resounding NO! So why do so many people think that Palestine is justified in showering missiles on Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and other towns and villages in Israel? Does Israel not have the right to self-defence against attack, or do you think they should just shrug their shoulders and say ‘its just another day in paradise?’ Perhaps you imagine they should just bury their dead and forget the whole thing!

An Israeli Woman Is Helped From The Wreckage Of Her Home

To be honest, I am sick of these mealy-mouthed idiots who’s ears are closed to all but the propaganda initiated by Hamas and perpetuated by the Press, and blame Israel for their response to these attacks when they don’t have a clue of what is really going on but just see ‘mighty’ Israel stamping on the ‘poor Palestinians’ yet again! Most of them don’t have half the brain they were born with and are totally incapable of logical thought. They just listen to the news and read the headlines to see that another woman or child has either died or been injured in an Israeli attack and immediately get on their ‘high horse’ and spout nonsense to justify their ‘superior’ attitude.

Hamas Rocket Firing Surrounded By Dwellings

Naturally we mourn for these people and feel sorry for their plight because many casualties are innocent civilians, but then you should ask, why do the insurgents always fire their rockets from the middle of inhabited areas? The answer is simple, they want to maximise the civilian casualties for propaganda purposes, and as usual the media take the bait. Instead the media should be asking Hamas why they insist on firing missiles from inhabited areas, and please, don’t bleat to me that there are no uninhabited areas close to the border!

There is no way the civilian population can be called totally innocent in the true sense of the word, for they voted the terrorist organization Hamas into power in free elections, and if you vote for a terrorist organization you have to accept the consequences. Nothing Hamas has done since they came to power has convinced me, and many level-headed people, that they are prepared to negotiate for peace with Israel, for they have flat-out refused every time they were invited.

The Israeli’s Too Have Their Casualties But They Seldom Appear In The News

Their transparent tactic is to call for a cease-fire when their supply of rockets has been exhausted, during which they re-arm themselves with more rockets, provided by Iran free of charge I might add. Iran doesn’t give a damn about the Palestinian people but see them merely as a tool in their ongoing hatred of Israel. Do you ever hear of ‘caring’ Iranians entering Gaza to help the poor people trapped there? Do you hell! Does Iran have aid organizations inside Palestine like western nations? Do they hell! You  can bet your life Hamas doesn’t have to pay for the rockets they get from Iran. In my view, anyone who doesn’t recognise these facts is blind.

Rockets Rain Down On An Israeli Town – Should Israel Ignore This?

The UN and many national governments are trying to get Israel to stop its attacks on Palestine but most forget what their own reaction would be if a foreign country started raining missiles down on their citizens. Hamas has fired more than 600 rockets at Israeli territory in this latest spat, with more than 150 fired last friday alone. If you lived within range of these rockets, and were subject to such action in your hometown no matter which country you were in, how would you feel? Would you or would you not want your military to put an end to it. Judging by the rhetoric of those who blame Israel for her response, they would perhaps shrug their shoulders and sleep in an air-raid shelter for the rest of their days?

Uninformed Hatred Against A Nation Defending Itself Against Terror

In conclusion let me just say that I am neither Jewish nor a Jew lover, but merely an individual who sees the injustice of a situation that has no end. I am tired of hearing the ‘holy’ and ‘righteous’ among us shouting their collective heads off about something they have not an iota of understanding. It is time to look past the propaganda and examine the real facts.

Roy.

Update Sunday 18/11/12: Interesting to note that on the news programmes today, governments, the UN, and the Arab League are all telling Israel to cease their attacks on Gaza, but I haven’t heard a single report of anyone saying Hamas must stop firing their rockets on Israel. How one-sided can you get!!!
