It’s All About Money – The Grenfell Tower Disaster

The Grenfell Tower disaster has cost many lives, and for sure the number of dead will increase as the investigation continues. If proper safety measures had been installed in the tower this would never have happened. But as usual it all comes down to money.

Businesses are always looking out for the cheapest possible way to solve problems, and this is evident in the Grenfell Tower killings. Why did they not install sprinkler systems to safeguard all floors? Why did they not use fire-retardant cladding on the outside of the building. These are questions that should be asked when the investigation begins.

Money rules the country in this day and age and all businesses are out to make as much profit as they can by  spending as little as possible on a project. Safety is of little concern to these people and they just hope that nothing happens.

It has been reported that the cladding fixed to the outside of the building was not fireproof and this was the major cause of the whole tower becoming a raging inferno. People living on the upper floors were not able to get down to ground level and save their lives so they all died in a most horrible way.

If the builders of the tower has spent a little more money to make the highrise safer many more would have survived. But it is a sign of our times where money rules everything.

I can understand the frustration of those that have survived for they have lost everything. Families, sons and daughters, parents and friends all because the builders wanted to save money. It is tragic when money rules everything.

Throughout the world the highrise has become extremely popular for we see them in cities across the world. Some may have the proper safety procedures, but not all, in fact, very few.

I think you are in constant danger when living in a highrise for the danger of fire is a constant threat. It only takes some idiot to make a mistake lower down and the entire tower is in danger.

The builders of these towers need to do whatever they can to make them safe in the event of an accident. They need to ensure that if a fire breaks out it does not spread to other floors, and that there is a proper escape plan for all residents. As these buildings get older the risk of tragedy gets steadily worse.

The National Health Service In Turmoil- Again

The National Health Service

The National Health Service

In Britain we have the National Health Service (NHS) that is supposed to cater for illnesses among the public. For years there have been problems and last year it got worse. The whole system is in danger of total collapse unless the government do something to save it. There is apparently talk in government circles of privatising the whole system, but that to me sounds like ‘backroom chatter’. Government sources have consistently said that this option is not on the table.

But there is little doubt that once again the NHS is in crisis. Accident and Emergency (A&E) departments are practically overrun every day and although it is a general rule that patients are seen within four hours, this is seldom true. It has been reported that “throughout December, A&E departments had to shut their doors to new patients more than 140 times – a 63% rise on the 88 recorded the previous year. NHS guidance says “A&E diverts” like this should only happen as a last resort and are put in place when departments cannot cope with any more patients. Last week, it also emerged that two patients died on trolleys in Worcestershire Royal Hospital’s A&E department during a period described as extremely busy by the hospital.” You have to wonder why this is!

In my view the biggest mistake the country ever made, thanks to Tony Blair, was to allow in hundreds of thousands of immigrants who are now swamping the NHS. Few of them work for a living for they are mostly on benefits, but they still get free healthcare from the NHS, along with many other ‘perks’. In effect, this has pushed the English population on the sidelines when it comes to help. They make no contributions whatsoever unlike the British people but still get looked after, even for minor things like colds.

Before the great influx of immigrants the NHS was able to cope satisfactorily with the aged and sick people, but since Tony Blair allowed in so many immigrants the system is on the verge of collapse yet again. The sad thing is, most politicians discredit the complaints and say there is no crisis. Mind you, they can all afford private medical care and never step foot in A&E. Perhaps they should!

Brexit! Who Can You Really Believe?

Posted in America, Benefits, Britain, Budget Cuts, David Cameron, Elections, European Union, Human Rights, Immigration, News with tags , , , , on 12/06/2016 by floroy1942

As the Brexit poll comes closer each side is hotting up as each accuses the other of telling outright lies. The big problem is who do you really believe?

David Cameron

David Cameron

On the ‘Stay’ side we have heard a lot of may, could, and possibly stories about what will happen if the United Kingdom leaves, but the fact is no-one knows what will really happen.

The ‘Stay’ campaign is telling us that we will go into economic free-fall, millions will lose their jobs, the export market will collapse, the pound will drop drastically, interest rates will drop, house prices and wages will collapse, and oh so many more things. It would seem from their rhetoric that we are heading for the complete annihilation of our country.

But to me, this is all supposition and scare tactics designed to persuade the electorate to vote to stay in the E.U. They, like everybody else, do not have any idea what the effects will be on the country and how the E.U. will react.

We have contracts with many countries to export goods that are essential to their industry and I cannot see these companies suddenly cancelling them the day after the results are known.

Car Parts For The E.U.

Car Parts For The E.U.

What about the car manufacturing business? If they stopped all parts made in Britain their factories would have to close down for maybe months until a new supplier is found. British workers make a lot of parts for companies like Volkswagen, Audi, Opel and many others. The same goes for other businesses on the continent, many of whom rely on British made parts for their machines etc. There is no way this trade will suddenly stop if we vote ‘Out’.

Another area of controversy is Cameron’s insistence that our economy will suddenly take a nosedive. I am fully prepared to admit that we may see a slowing down of the economy until such time as we can sell goods to other countries across the world. Another thing he insists on is that house prices will drop to drastic levels, wages will hit rock bottom, and many things will  get a lot more expensive. Cameron also insists that the NHS and pensions will take drastic cuts.

It is all supposition designed to persuade people to vote to stay in the Union. Cameron and his cronies have been ‘suppositioning’ for long enough, and its time we heard the truth from them.

Boris Johnson

Boris Johnson

On the other hand, the ‘Leave’ campaign have also done their share of  ‘telling porkies’, but in my view to a much less extent. Both Boris Johnson and Michael Gove have been accused of lying about the huge influx of Turks that will invade our country if the E.U. agreement with Turkey on visa free travel goes ahead. I for one do not think they are lying. I think we will see a huge number of Turks moving to our country, all wanting to take advantage of our generous benefits system.

If we vote ‘Out’ we will be able to close our borders securely and let in only those who can be a benefit to the country like skilled workers. We can put a stop to all the Muslim migrants who are coming here to benefit from free money and accommodation.

We can also get rid of the Human Rights farce that is making a mockery of our Justice System. We can then deport all Muslims who are causing trouble in our land with their demonstrations for an Islamic State. We can rid ourselves of all the Muslim and other nationality criminals who are filling up our prison system. All positive advantages that the idiots in Strasbourg deny us.

Another bone of contention is the supposed £359m that we pay to the E.U. every week. Many have come out and said that this is not true for the actual figure is £17m a week. Even that to me is a huge sum of money when you consider it, £884m over a year. As Boris Johnson says, That could go a long way to solving all our problems with the NHS which is being stretched to the limits by immigrants.

Michael Gove

Michael Gove

There are of course many other arguments that are bouncing back and forth, but the one thing that sticks in my craw as I have said before, is the plan by those in Brussels  to form the ‘United States of Europe’ under their direct control. Eventually this will mean that all national governments will be wound up as complete control is handed over to Brussels. This I cannot vote for under any circumstances. Anyone who does not believe this should read about the Brussels plan to have every national flag emboldened with the twelve gold stars of the Union.

Union Flags?

Union Flags?

I have already reported on the fact that should Britain leave there are other countries that may well follow. In Germany, France, Holland, Denmark and several other counties there is a growing movement to also hold a referendum on staying in the E.U. Should this happen I can see the end of the Union, and it will take years for all countries to recover.

There can be little doubt that both sides are exaggerating the facts, but for me, I come down on the side of Boris Johnson and Michael Gove. It’s time we got out of this mess we call the European Union.

Should Britain Leave The European Union?

How Things Have Changed

How Things Have Changed

Much has been said and written on this topic, but eventually everyone must make up their own minds when the subject is put to a vote in 2017. To be honest, I cannot think of a reason for waiting until that date, for it could just as well be done next year, but there again, I am not a politician (thank goodness).

There have been many arguments passed back and forth supporting both sides of the vote, and it is clear that David Cameron is in favour of staying in.

Thanks TONY!

Thanks TONY!

I too can imagine us staying in but on two conditions, (1) that we get rid of the yoke of the Human Rights Charter, and (2) that we decide who we let into the country and not Brussels. Given agreement on these two issues I think it would be beneficial for the country to stay in the E.U.

However, is that likely to happen? Not on yer life! So this means the only other choice left to us is to leave. For far too long the bureaucrats in Brussels have told us what we can and cannot do, and it has to stop.

Yea Right!

Yea Right!

Our Justice system, that has been exemplary for many centuries has become a farce, with murderers among others getting ridiculously short sentences, and we have seen the rise of the ‘Goody-Goody Brigade’ in Britain thanks to the Human Rights Charter, who think for example that even killers have more rights than the victim or the bereaved family. Hell, we cannot even deport immigrant career criminals for crying out loud!

On the other side of things they dictate to us how many immigrants we must let into the country until our benefits system, hospitals and housing are swamped. Meanwhile, our people are not getting the help they need because of this.

They Already Are!

They Already Are!

I certainly do not envy Cameron when it comes time to making the decision for it will be hard, but he must listen to the voice of the people, and it depends on how much they think of the choices open to us and what decisions they make.

Business in the U.K. is divided on the option of going it alone without the E.U., but from reports it is clear that many are changing their minds.

Argument And Counter-Argument

Argument And Counter-Argument

It was reported yesterday that over 1,000 businesses, and donors to the Conservative Party, now back leaving Europe. This comes on top of many high-profile M.P’s also backing the move. It is said that Work and Pensions Secretary Iain Duncan Smith and Chris Grayling, leader of the House of Commons, are most likely to quit rather than support continued membership.

In the beginning the idea of a unified Europe was a good idea, but like all good ideas, it has been taken to extremes where today you cannot even breathe without the E.U. agreeing. It has become too bureaucratic and too powerful for its own good.

Immigration Figures

Immigration Figures

The big question is, if Britain does decide to leave will other nations follow and we see the end of the European Union? That is without doubt a possibility.

Taking immigration as just one example, more and more countries are becoming dissatisfied with the E.U. stance on this subject. Not only Britain, but also Hungary, Macedonia, Italy, Greece and many other smaller nations are being pressured into taking more and more refugees, and the simple truth is, they don’t want to because they can’t!

Where They Come From

Where They Come From

Britain has been told by the E.U. in Brussels that it cannot block the entry of people from other E.U. nations, like Poland among others, who want to come here to work, including Romanian Gypsies. Currently we have over a million Polish working in Britain, and our streets are filled with gypsies begging on our streets. Our countryside is being overrun by ‘travellers’ who move onto any area of open ground, beg and steal from the local inhabitants and leave the land looking like a rubbish tip.

Polish Integrate And Work

Polish Integrate And Work

I applaud the fact that the Polish people come here to work for a living instead off living of our benefits, but the money they make here goes straight back to their families in Poland. And what about all the British people who cannot find a job because the country is overrun by foreign nationals. As for the gypsies, they are a curse wherever they go, but do not confuse them with the real Romanian people who are caring and hard-working.

Something Has To Change!

Something Has To Change!

If as a nation we are forced to accept tens of thousands more immigrants annually the whole structure of the country will collapse. Our unemployment figures are way too high and cannot be sustained, and the money poured into social welfare is rising steadily until it too will be unsustainable.

No-one Will Want To Leave Despite Government Action

No-one Will Want To Leave Despite Government Action

I find it totally unacceptable that immigrants who are granted asylum here are also given British passports, making them British citizens. When the wars in the Middle East and Africa are eventually quelled, none of these people will want to go back home and we will be stuck with them. The government should be issuing temporary visas to these people, not passports that allow them to stay indefinitely. Some immigrants interviewed during a TV report were asked if they would go back home once the trouble was ended, all replied with an emphatic NO!

Open Your EyesAll this will eventually mean the end of the United Kingdom as a Christian country, but can the politicians see it? Can they hell! I am just glad I will not be around to see the demise of this once great country.

At some time in the future this all has to stop, but it certainly won’t so long as we remain part of the E.U. under the current rules.

Blair Still Flies In The Face Of Public Opinion

Posted in Britain, Budget Cuts, Conservative Party, England, European Union, Human Rights, Immigration, News, Politics, UK with tags , , , , on 02/11/2014 by floroy1942

Endangered SpeciesIt seems that some people never learn, and more to the point, never will. Tony Blair is one such individual, for despite overwhelming public opinion he still thinks immigration is good for the country. Last week during a conversation with Ed Miliband he said that the Labour Leader should not “chase UKIP supporters”, and insisted that curbing immigration would be “a disaster for Britain”. It seems this man will not be satisfied until immigrants have taken over the whole country and the British are wiped from the face of the earth and the country becomes ‘Britainistan’.

Blair / Miliband

Tony Blair Advises Ed Miliband

What surprises me is that after all the damage he did to this country when Prime Minister, there are still many who would put their faith in him, and the Labour Party, to run the country again.

EU Immigration Figures

Key Findings

Blair At Odds With Public Opinion

During an interview with Progress Magazine Blair said: “Let’s be clear: We don’t think that UKIP’s right, not on immigration and not on Europe – so the first thing you’ve got to be really careful of doing is … saying things that suggest that they’re kind of justified in their policy because what you’re actually going to do is validate their argument when in fact you don’t believe in it. Stopping immigration would be a disaster for this country and Labour must not end up chasing after the policies of a party like UKIP, who you don’t agree with, whose policies would take this country backwards economically, politically, in every conceivable way, and who, ultimately, at the heart of what they do, have a rather nasty core of prejudice that none of us believe in, which you’ve actually got to take on and fight. So the way to deal with this is to deal with it by what you believe”.

So you can see that Blair still believes in allowing millions of immigrants into the country from all across the world, and I suppose he will continue until there is standing room only. Mind you, by the time it gets that far he will have emigrated to some cosy foreign land.

Benefits Comparison - You See Why They All Want Come Here!

Benefits Comparison – You See Why They All Want To Come Here!

He seems totally uncaring of the fact that his ‘Multi-Cultural Britain’ plan has destroyed the fabric of the nation, made millions unemployed, and brought the NHS and Benefits System to their knees. The sad thing is he would like to see it continue with Labour in power once again. But what is more disturbing is that there are people out there who will still vote Labour at the next election!

But that is not all, for he believes that we should stay in the E.U. This is certainly a vexing question, because there are arguments both for and against. It would be perfectly acceptable for the U.K. to stay in the Union provided we can be released from the Directives on Human Rights, Immigration and Justice.

HeadlineThe Human Rights Laws have made a mockery of our Justice system with immigrants and criminals taking advantage of these directives to escape deportation and justice. The laws governing immigration have meant the country being flooded with E.U. migrants coming here looking for work, and in some cases for the free handouts so readily given out by the Blair regime. The E.U. has also meddled in our Justice System to the extent where judges cannot hand out proper sentences to killers and rapists, many who get off with the proverbial ‘slap on the wrist’. Also, we cannot deport immigrant criminals.

Comments Summerized

Comments Summarized

I often read the comments people post on news articles on the BBC, Yahoo etc. and it is clear that the real British public want immigration to stop because there are just too many people on this island after the Blair years, and yet he wants to keep it going!

Tony Blair still exerts influence within the Labour Party and one thing you can be sure off is that mass immigration will continue on and on if Labour win the next election. Many dominant Labour figures have already come out and said publicly that we need more immigration, so you cannot say you have not been warned.

May our once great nation, somehow, rise again.

Insurance Number Quotas – Cameron Got It Wrong!

Posted in Britain, Budget Cuts, Children, David Cameron, European Union, Government Spending, Immigration, MP's, News, UK with tags , , , , on 20/10/2014 by floroy1942
A Disillusioned Man

A Disillusioned Man

David Cameron is once again in the news because of his new plan to make cuts in European migrants who come to Britain for work. But once again the silly man got it wrong! Jose Manuel Barroso has castigated him saying that free movement of European citizens is essential to the workings of the European Union (E.U.), and such a move would be against E.U. Laws.

UK National Insurance Card

UK National Insurance Card

Cameron’s idea is to place a limit on the number of new National Insurance Numbers given out to migrants, which should mean those without one cannot be legally employed. He is planning to give out only 100,000 per year, which according to him will restrict the flow of migrants to that number. He envisages only giving a temporary insurance number which would stop them from moving to Britain to work and claim benefits indefinitely. As the saying goes: “In yer dreams Pal!”

Migrant Workers Favoured For This Work

Migrant Workers Favoured For This Work

Such a tactic may help somewhat, but it will not put much of a damper on the numbers. Many will work without one because there are too many employers who will give them a job ‘on the black’ in order to save labour costs. As Mr. Barroso has stated, such a plan would cause great upheaval and problems within the E.U. for Great Britain and will, I am sure, founder on the rocks.

No Mr. Cameron, you are definitely on the wrong track! If you want to cut down on the number of immigrants coming to our shores there is only one way to do it: Stop giving them free benefits, housing and health care!

Just take a look at two random E.U. countries and see how they compare to the U.K.

DENMARK

Health care – Free, available immediately

Child benefit – Up to £161 a month available after 12 months

Unemployment benefit – Minimum of one year’s work required to qualify

Housing benefit – No equivalent scheme

HOLLAND

Health care – Only available with a certificate proving entitlement

Child benefit – Immediate payment of £943 per year

Unemployment benefit – Six-month qualifying period

Housing benefit – Means tested, available immediately

The E.U. Migrant Flow Into The U.K.

The E.U. Migrant Flow Into The U.K.

UNITED KINGDOM

Health care – Available immediately and free of charge under the National Health Service

Child benefit – Paid immediately if the child is under 16, or 16 to 19 and in education or training, and the claimant has an individual income of less than £50,000. Amount is £20.30 a week (£1,055 per annum) for the eldest or only child, £13.40 (£696 per annum) per additional child.

Unemployment benefit – Immediate payment of £71.70 (£3,728 per annum,) a week in Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) after proving ‘you are actively seeking work’. EU migrants have to pass the “right-to-reside” test to show they are “economically active”. The European Commission wants to abolish this test. There is also contribution-based additional JSA which is only available after working for at least two years.

Housing benefit – Available immediately if you are on a low income, whether you are working or unemployed. How much depends on individual circumstances, but amount cannot normally exceed £250 per week (£3,000 per annum) for a one-bedroom property, or up to £400 a week (£4,800 per annum) for four bedrooms or more.

Migrants Looking For Casual (None Registered) Work

Migrants Looking For Casual (None Registered) Work

Britain should be like other European countries, where, if you are not working, you get very limited benefits until you have been in the country, and worked long enough to earn them! This should apply to every immigrant, whether he or she is from within the E.U. or not. Over the years it has become clear that many of the immigrants coming to our shores do so for one thing,  free handouts.

Immigration Figures 2014

The Biggest Problem Is Self Evident!

It is true that many E.U. migrants do come here to find work, and many do so quickly, but they all get benefits and free health insurance and treatment from the NHS, and we all know what a mess that is in. So far as the non-E.U. migrants are concerned, all they want are the benefits, free housing and health care.

Someone Tells It Like It Is!

Someone Tells It Like It Is!

If all those wishing to come to this country are told they will get no benefits, free housing or health care for at least a year, the flow will rapidly decrease, especially among the non-E.U. migrants.

I think Mr, Cameron, you will have much more success with this plan than yours!

Death Of The National Health Service?

Posted in Benefits, Britain, Budget Cuts, England, Germany, Government Spending, Health, Immigration, News, UK with tags , , , , , on 08/10/2014 by floroy1942

Twenty years ago it would have seemed impossible that the National Health Service (NHS) could today be in its death throes. It is a sad indication of our times that our much vaunted health system could be on the point of collapse due to a lack of funding.

The National Health Charter

The National Health Charter

When it was launched in 1946 it was hailed as a major breakthrough in healthcare throughout the world. It provided free care to all people in the UK and was funded by the tax system. It has had tremendous success throughout its history and has served the British people well for 69 years. And then things changed! It is a sad fact that the NHS is not what it used to be. Now there is a shortage of doctors, trained nurses, beds, facilities and equipment that can no longer be addressed.

During the major sociological changes that took place in the 60’s and 70’s, fewer people were attracted to train as doctors and nurses which left major shortages. These were filled by the influx of people from the Caribbean and ex-colonies during that time and the problem was solved, or rather delayed, because bright young people continued to be enticed by more attractive jobs. During the last fifteen years these shortages have been filled by immigrants. This has not always been successful because not enough care was taken to ensure they were well enough trained, or spoke a satisfactory level of English.

This of course has diminished the effectiveness of the NHS but is not the so-called ‘killing stroke’.

    Typical Hospital Waiting Room

Three Brits – Four Immigrants

We have two factors here that contribute to the decline of the NHS as a service. The first is the increase in the ageing population because people live longer now than 50 years ago. The second, and by far the most damaging, is the huge influx of millions of immigrants since Tony Blair opened the doors wide during his tenure as Prime Minister.

Now, let me make things clear here! This is not an anti-immigrant rant and I do not hate immigrants! They are just people who took advantage of a golden opportunity given them by Tony Blair.

How We Lost Control - Thanks To Labour

How We Lost Control – Thanks To Labour

Like everyone else they have a need for health care and should receive it, but the problem is, ever since our dear Tony opened the gates he promised it to them for free along with all the other benefits he handed out to each and every one. But not only that, because restrictions were not put in place as soon as the man of the house arrived, then came his family, including parents, grand-parents, uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, you name it. Sadly, they were all allowed free care on the NHS! If you are an immigrant into Germany for example, you get little if any benefits until you have worked a fixed number of years. And only then do you get free health care! Its the same in many European countries – why do you think they all want to come to Britain?

So you can clearly see where the problem lies. Ever since the immigrants started pouring in the NHS has become overloaded and just cannot cope any more.

British Medical Association

British Medical Association

Leading figures from the British medical world sent a letter to the Prime Minister saying: “Historic annual increases in the health budget, designed to keep pace with a growing and ageing population, have been severely reduced – meaning that our NHS has just been through the longest and most damaging budget squeeze in its history. Savings have been made, and despite the best efforts of nurses, doctors and other staff, patients have not been insulated from these cuts. Too many staff feel undervalued and demoralised when all they want is to be able to care for patients.” The letter also points to signs of a system “buckling under the twin crises of rising demand and flat-lining budgets”. Now that should be clear enough language for anyone.

It is a fact that people spend several hours sitting in a hospital waiting room before they get to see anyone, and the same is true at most G.P. doctor services. The most frequent problems suffered by the NHS at the moment, as highlighted by the letter are:

Patients struggling to get an appointment due to the shortage of G.Ps.

Many women not getting the high-quality care they deserve due to pressures on maternity services,

Thousands of patients facing longer and even unacceptable waits to find out whether or not they have cancer.

Families being “crippled” by the cost of social care, with thousands of elderly and vulnerable people not getting the help they need.

People with long-term progressive conditions such as dementia being cut adrift, reliant on unpaid and unsupported carers.

There can be little doubt the NHS, one of this countries proudest achievements, is buckling under the strain of too many patients and too little resources. It is fact that the whole economy of the country is being undermined, and has been ever since the doors opened.

UK Unemployed

UK Unemployed

We have more unemployed than in any other time in our history, plus a housing shortage that is crippling young people starting out in life. The benefits system is on its knees also, trying to keep up with every Tom, Dick or Harry that enters the country with their hand open.

The Decision Makers

The Decision Makers

You can see how concerned some of the political leaders are by this statement. Cameron promised real-term increases in NHS spending from 2015-20, Ed Miliband promised an extra £2.5bn a year and Nick Clegg pledged £1bn extra in 2016 and 2017. Looks like Clegg of the Liberal Democrats is not too worried about the situation.

Thanks to the crackpot decisions made at the turn of the decade by the lunatic Blair and his colleagues, Britain is suffering its worst crisis since the Second World War. These immigrants should have been treated as in most other countries these days, they pay their way until qualified for assistance. Thanks Tony! You have managed to do what Hitler never could – Bring this country to its knees!

It’s Crying Time Again!

Posted in Britain, Budget Cuts, England, Equality, European Union, Government, Human Rights, Justice, News, UK with tags , , , , on 20/05/2014 by floroy1942

CryingYou really couldn’t make it up could you? We all make mistakes which is true, but sometimes government mistakes are so laughable it makes you want to scream and cry in sheer frustration.

Currently politicians are back-peddling furiously after yet another prisoner cock-up, this time a killer and his friend, Thomas Moffett both of which failed to return to prison after day release.

This is a couple of weeks after a vicious armed robber called Michael Wheatley went missing while on day release, and committed another armed robbery  before  being recaptured.

Arnold Pickering - A Killer On The Run

Arnold Pickering – A Killer On The Run

The prisoner this time was Arnold Pickering who was sentenced to life in prison (with an eighteen years minimum) in 1991 for the murder of a man in Oldham Lancashire. Apart from this killer being in an open prison in the first place, he had twice before absconded while on day release. You have to ask why he was on day release at all with such a record?

The incompetence inside the prison system is also highlighted in this episode, in that Pickering was supposed to report back to the prison at 16.30 but the fact that he was missing was not reported until 19.00. Maybe they thought he had missed his bus and was waiting for the next one? A man can travel a long way in two-and-a-half hours.

Manchester Prison

Manchester Prison

Pickering first escaped from Manchester prison in 1990 after which he stabbed a man to death and was later recaptured and sentenced, and then in 2009 he absconded again while on day release from Kirkham Prison. Now he has done it again. It has since been revealed that he was recaptured while staying at a house in Greater Manchester.

The most obvious question is: As a killer, what was he doing in a low security open prison in the first place? Secondly, you would have to ask what he was doing out on day release with at least four years left to serve of a ‘life’ sentence? And lastly, why was he out on day release when he had already absconded twice  before?

Politician's View Of Overcrowding

Politician’s View Of Overcrowding

So far as question one is concerned, the government’s excuse is that maximum security prisons are overcrowded. The answer to questions two and three? Well, your guess is as good as mine!

Peter Mcparlin

Peter Mcparlin

Peter McParlin, who is chairman of the Prison Officers Association, said the system was under “immense pressure”. “We have overcrowding in the prison estate, people are being put into open conditions who are unsuitable for open conditions. Twenty prisons have closed in the last three years and prison staff numbers have reduced by 6000 since 2010. “And it’s clear to me that the tick-box mentality that goes into transferring prisoners to open conditions has failed the public.”

This brings up the question, if we have such over-crowding, why did the government close down twenty prisons? You will have to ask Cameron for an answer to that one.

Working With Others To Protect The Public - You Must Be Joking!

Working With Others To Protect The Public – You Must Be Joking!

One thing this whole saga does do however, is highlight the total incompetency of Parole Board hearings and the ‘bleeding hearts’ that sit on them, and the whole parole system itself. Really, how would any sane person allow a killer out on day release after he had twice run away before? It makes me think these ‘bleeding heart’ people who make up parole boards are either complete and utter idiots, or are a sucker for a good sob story. Is someone going to get fired over this stupidity? I doubt it!

It is a proven fact that between April 2012 and March 2013 a total of 204 prisoners have absconded from open prisons. This fact alone proves the system does not work for all those with more than three months left to serve of their sentence. With that amount of time left, prisoners are less likely to run away for fear of having their sentences extended when caught.

It all points to the fact that Parole Boards have no idea what they are doing, because recapturing escaped prisoners costs valuable police time and resources that could be better spent elsewhere.

If I had my way I would round up all these Human Rights and Do-Gooder nutters and ship them off to somewhere they can do no more harm. Actually the Shetland Isles does spring to mind for they can pontificate as much as they like up there and no-one will give a toss!

Chris Grayling - Justice Secretary

Chris Grayling – Justice Secretary

As you would expect, the government officials and MP’s are jumping out of the woodwork to say how terrible this whole saga is. Justice Secretary Chris Grayling said, “There have been a number of instances in recent months that I find unacceptable and in future prisoners should not expect to find the same system that’s perhaps been there for the last, well many, many years.”

Prisons minister Jeremy Wright is reported as saying: “This will be looked at as a matter of urgency. I am not prepared to see public safety compromised.” Well well! Talk about shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted!

Electronic Tag

Electronic Tag

Another valid question comes to mind, and that is why are these day release prisoners not electronically tagged? If they do decide to do a runner then at least they can be caught much quicker without wasting too much police time.

I find the hypocrisy of present day justice totally unacceptable in that killers/rapists etc. are sentenced to ‘life’, but with the proviso they must spend a minimum of ‘X’ years in jail. Either they are sentenced to life or ‘X’ number of years, but don’t dress it up by calling it life because you are not fooling anyone! What the hell happened to a proper life sentence?

No Overcrowding Here!

No Overcrowding Here!

Oh dear, silly me! I forgot the prisons are full! So now we cannot afford to give prisoners long jail sentences because we might trample on their human rights by having two share a cell. We might as well let them out after serving a quarter of their sentence! So what happened to Cameron’s much vaunted plans for the building of new prisons? Oh Damn! We can’t do that because it costs money! It’s far cheaper to give hardened criminals ‘a slap on the wrist’ or send them away for a mere year.

The justice system in the UK is in such a mess that it will take changes of earthquake proportions to put it right. The biggest problem is that we cannot mete out proper justice because of the strangling Human Rights Laws that ensure our prisons are like holiday camps, and we must provide all the comforts of home.

Eu Parliament Brussels

Eu Parliament Brussels

Rules and regulations come from Brussels demanding that we treat all our killers, rapists and so forth with kid gloves for we might offend their human rights. These laws make a mockery of justice and treat the perpetrators better than the victims. It is time we had a government with the balls to tell Brussels to shove their rules where the sun don’t shine and we get back to the proper the fair system of justice we once had. As things stand its enough to make a grown man cry!

Some Reasons for Spain’s Economic Difficulties

Posted in Benefits, Budget Cuts, Europe, European Union, Government, Government Spending, Politics, Spain with tags , , on 29/11/2013 by floroy1942

I learned today how the Spanish people are being bled dry by their inept government. It is staggering to hear that companies are being screwed by having to pay a massive 45% social security on every salary they pay out to their staff. The effect on the country’s employment rate is incalculable.

Spanish Unemployment

Spanish Unemployment

It has put most companies in an impossible position, in that they cannot afford to hire new workers because of this huge amount from each salary that goes to the government. Likewise, people are in desperate straits trying to exist on the small pay they receive because it costs the companies too much to give them a living wage.

As you can imagine, companies are loath to take on new workers due to this huge tax burden, and this I believe is one of the reasons for the huge unemployment levels in  the country.

House of Horrors

House of Horrors

The governments point of view I suppose is they consider this move necessary to cover the huge cost of unemployment benefit, which the figures show has gone through the roof in recent years. It seems the government fails to see that if they made it easier for companies to hire more workers, the unemployment figures would tumble and therefore cost them less in benefits. It’s a simple question of balance, and the government is way off line.

Even though unemployment benefit in Spain is meagre by anyone’s standards, and barely enough for an average family to live on, people are only entitled to it for a maximum of two years, after which time they get nothing.

At Wits End

At Wits End

Another atrocious rule from the government is that governing pensions. From what I have been told, you must work and pay into the system for a minimum of 25 years to qualify for a pension. In effect, this means you could be working for 24 years and when you retire you would get nothing. Most other countries pay out a percentage for the years you have paid into the scheme, i.e. if you pay in for 50% of your working life you get a 50% pension. But not Spain, its 25 years or nothing. This is scandalous in anyone’s language and has a dramatic effect on everyone.

I will freely admit to not being an economist, but one of the glaring questions over this governments policies is: Where does all this money go?

The Spanish people certainly don’t see any of it in improvements to the infrastructure or their living conditions. As a single example, many roads in Spain are in atrocious condition but not a single penny is spent on improving them. Wages have been stagnant for several years but prices for everything continue to rise at an alarming rate. Spain still has a huge debt that will take many years to overcome, and the entire economy is constantly on the verge of collapse.

P.M. Rajoy - Also Accused Of Corruption

P.M. Rajoy – Also Accused Of Corruption

Only one thing that is certain, and that is the rich will continue to get richer, and the rest will continue to suffer for some time. There is little doubt that all the corrupt politicians, both at government and local level, will continue to skim off their percentage until strong action by the law takes place and these people are sent away for a long time.

As a bystander, it seems to me this country has one of the most inefficient governments in Europe, and things will not get better in the foreseeable future. As one Spanish politician is quoted as saying recently, “The Spanish people work more hours per week than any other nation in Europe, but they also have the lowest productivity!” There has to be a message there. I wonder if anyone will take notice?

“Iron Discipline” – The Latest Labour Joke

Posted in Benefits, Britain, Budget Cuts, David Cameron, England, Europe, Government Spending, Immigration, Liberal Party, UK with tags , , , , on 03/06/2013 by floroy1942

Politicians are without doubt a breed apart. They are self-centred, greedy and don’t give a fig for the people they represent. Having got that off my chest, I have to say something about the latest idiot to try and persuade us Labour can govern the country.  The person in my sights is the Labour Shadow Chancellor, Ed Balls who in a recent speech tried to kid the public that his party would have “iron discipline” (his words) when it came to running the economy.

As usual, the Labour plan is high in promises, but “low on specific policy ideas”  (Tony Blair’s words),  which let’s face it, is nothing new. All he promised the electorate in his speech was to reduce “‘winter fuel payments to the top 5% of wealthy pensioners”. This, Labour claims would save £100 million, which sounds an awful lot to you and me, but is fact a drop in the ocean of the annual budget. He didn’t say a word about the billions that need to be saved to get the economy back on its feet.

Labour's Joker

Labour’s Joker

Balls promises to cut social spending, which he says is the fault of ‘the current Conservative-led coalition government’ which he accuses of failing to do enough to get the economy growing again. Now that is rich coming from a member of the party that put us in this situation in the first place by spending money like it was water! It was Labour policies that allowed lazy good-for-nothing parasites to spend the whole day down at the pub while the tax payers support their drinking habits and pay the rent.

After thirteen years of Labour rule, the Con/Lib Coalition inherited a debt of 11% of GDP, which is one of the largest in the entire European Union, and there is no ‘miracle cure’ for that. The current Chancellor George Osbourne is aiming to announce £11.5 billion of spending cuts this month for the year 2015/2016 and hard though it may be, its the only way to get us all out of huge debt.

Help Yourselves Boy's - We Can Always Borrow More!

Help Yourselves Boy’s – Labour Can Always Borrow More!

Apart from the immigration debacle that was one of Labour’s biggest failures, they began giving money away like confetti to all and sundry who felt like coming here. When they didn’t have enough money in the kitty to pay for all the immigrant housing, health benefits, unemployment benefits etc., they just went out and borrowed some more.

They are the ones who left the country in such a shambles, and despite the current governments attempts to clear up their mess, the banking crisis and the stagnation of the European economy has made things doubly difficult. But Ed balls has a fix for all that! We don’t know what it is, because as usual, he won’t tell us and all we have are the usual empty promises.

What ever you do, don’t think this article is a party political broadcast for the Lib. Dems, and the Conservative Party, far from it. The Labour Party drove the country into the ground during their last tenure in office and I shudder to think that anyone would be stupid enough to vote for the again in 2015. Surly the British people are not that dumb!

We are all experiencing hard times at the moment, but that is the only way to get rid of a mountain of debt, and each of us must play a part. When that has been accomplished times will get better, and we as a nation, will be thriving again, but in the meantime it has to hurt.

Having A Laugh At Labour's Expense?

Having A Laugh At Labour’s Expense?

Even Ed Balls knows that the cuts in spending must continue and is already trying to shift the blame onto the current government. He gave a speech to Thomson Reuters of London today and is reported as saying, “With the Chancellor refusing to change course, Labour must start planning now for what will be a very tough inheritance in 2015. It will require us to govern in a very different way with much less money around. We will need an iron discipline and a relentless focus on our priorities.”

In the ‘plans’ he laid out i.e. a freeze on free schools, the abolition of police commissioners, the so-called infrastructure boost and the winter fuel allowance he said basically nothing. From his plans, which were meant to tug at the heartstrings of the rank and file, he will in fact save peanuts, just under £4 billion! When you consider public sector borrowing is at £85 billion, and the benefits budget alone is costing us a massive £185 billion, what is £4 billion – loose change that is all!

Getting Screwed?

Getting Screwed?

But according the Ed Balls, Labour had nothing to do with the current debt crisis in Britain! What a crock, anyone who believes that needs shooting in the head! According to him its all the Con/Lib governments fault, but what makes him think he can do anything different than George Osborne? The screw must be tightened down no matter who’s hand is doing the turning.

Many people are under the impression that although times are hard under the current government, it will get much better under Labour if they form the next government in 2015. All I can say to that is, if you think that, you deserve everything you get!

To Beat Austerity Measures, Pay Your Taxes

Posted in Benefits, Budget Cuts, Europe, Government Spending, Spain with tags , , , , , on 22/02/2013 by floroy1942

The people in both Spain and Greece have made it known they are fed up with their governments austerity measures, but in part, they are the ones making them necessary. The number of tax dodgers is rising day by day, and that fact alone means governments are not getting the money they need to get the economy back on its feet.

More People Want Cash Transactions

More People Want Cash Transactions

I can talk from personal experience here in Spain, because when someone does something for you here they invariably ask for cash instead of a card payment or bank transfer. Why? Because a cash payment does not go through the bank and is therefore not recorded, hence they do not have to pay tax on it. Even some shops will only take cash now as the economic squeeze bites. Many big businesses are not paying the level of taxation they should, and this too is hurting the economy.

Falling House Prices In Spain

Building Boom Collapse

The government is hemorrhaging money to keep the economy afloat and the ever-increasing number of tax dodgers only makes the situation worse.  Both the Spanish and Greek governments are struggling to pay social security and unemployment benefit to those who need it, and the number of unemployed is rising daily, which only increases the load.

With prices rising, pensions and benefits being cut, people are looking for any way possible to make ends meet and the most obvious is to avoid paying taxes. It is a cycle for destruction of the entire economy and both countries are heading into the abyss.

A Comparison Of Tax Evasion By Country

A Comparison Of Tax Evasion By Country

The Greeks have always avoided paying the proper level of taxes on a massive scale, and that is the main reason for the breakdown of their economy in the first place. Spain is now going down the same road. I do not blame just the people, for the governments of both countries need to get their spending priorities right and make the paying of taxes fair across the whole population.

The Greek Rich Are Moving Their Money Overseas

The Greek Rich Are Moving Their Money Overseas

Many super rich in Greece have not paid taxes for decades because they were bringing investment and money into the country, and the ordinary people had to carry the load, although most of them avoided paying their full share through corrupt tax officials. In the last few years the rich have been moving their capital out of the country to off-shore accounts to avoid heavy tax bills. Many of them have so much money they could probably settle the Greek debt on their own. It’s the old story; if you are rich you can easily move your money around, unlike the man in the street.

Unfinished Apartments Due To The Building Trade Collapse

Unfinished Apartments Due To The Building Trade Collapse

The big problem with Spain, unlike Greece, is that the catalyst for this current debacle was that everyone put ‘all their eggs in one basket’, i.e. the building industry. The collapse of the banks, coupled with the massive fall in property prices and the related stagnation of the building trade put Spain on the road to economic collapse.

Keeping Out The Stench Of Corruption

Keeping Out The Stench Of Corruption

Corruption has also cost the economy dear with just about anyone in a responsible position taking bribes and in some cases, skimming money. The April 7 2006 arrest of practically the entire local council of Marbella on corruption charges is a prime example. Recent allegations of corruption have even been made by the press against the current Spanish Prime Minister, Mariano Rahoy and his Party, although it is not for me to speculate on whether they are true or not. Since that time Rahoy has stated that he will crack down on corrupt practices in both national and local government, but that is hard to do when most people are at it. I wish him luck.

Cameron Makes The Right Decision On Child Benefit

Posted in Benefits, Britain, Budget Cuts, Children, Conservative Party, David Cameron, England, Government Spending, Immigrants, Parenting, UK with tags , , on 10/01/2013 by floroy1942

here are going to be a lot of upset people in the UK at this particular moment as they face losing part of their income in the form of Children’s Allowance. David Cameron and his coalition partners have decided to remove part of this benefit for couples earning over £50,000 a year, and to cease paying it altogether where one parent earns over £60,000 a year.

Welcome To The UK Benefits System

Welcome To The UK Benefits System

I am glad that we finally have a government that is willing to do something about a scandal that has perpetuated for so long in Britain. Its time people recognize the fact that “Benefits” were introduced to help the less fortunate among us, i.e. those that could not afford to put food on the table or clothe their children properly! It was not intended as a free government handout to those who can support themselves adequately as many seem to think these days.

The scandalous way in which people lie and cheat to get benefits they either are not, or should not be entitled to these days is nothing short of a national disgrace.

Costa Sunset

Costa Sunset

Let me give you an example: Here on the Costa del Sol in Spain it is currently 18*C, and yet there are thousands of Brits who travel down here for the winter and still claim their Cold Weather Allowance. When asked about this they say, “Well! I am entitled to it!” While these parasites are getting their ill-begotten payouts there are thousands of pensioners at home in the UK who must choose between food on the table or warmth because they cannot afford both.  To me that doesn’t make sense.

The entire benefits system has been creaking under the strain ever since Tony Blair and his gang of crooks started handing our money like confetti to his immigrant chums. Regardless of what anyone might say to the contrary, the benefits budget has got to be brought under control so the money can be given to those who really need it, and not the parasites that are sucking the lifeblood from the system.

Immigration Rate

Immigration Rate

Why should a family on a good sustainable income be paid by the state for each child when they don’t really need it, financially speaking? Its disgraceful, but all you ever hear is, “I’m entitled to it!”

Sky Diving Disability Cheat

Sky Diving Disability Cheat

Another area that I would like to see the government cracking down on is the disability benefit scam. There are tens of thousands of people in the UK who are scamming the system by getting benefits for a ‘disability that prevents them from working’. In the past I have known cheats who have never done an honest days work in their entire lives because they have a ‘disability’ and get paid for sitting in the pub all day long. Cases have come to court of people on holiday in Spain or elsewhere having a high old time when they are supposed to be wheelchair bound.

We do hear on occasion that ‘so-and-so’ has been caught by government inspectors and prosecuted, but they are far too few, even though the number has risen since Labour were kicked out of power at the last election. The government need to hire more inspectors and catch them all.

Lastly, and probably the most popular measure among the British people, we need to see a curtailment of benefits to immigrants who are living in our country at tax payers expense.

Come One - Come All

Come One – Come All

As we all know to our cost, it starts with the husband, followed by the wife and children and then the parents, grandparents, in-laws, uncles and aunts and so on until the UK tax payer is supporting a family of twenty or more from a single entry.

They are all are living the ‘Life of Riley’ in large houses, fed, watered and pampered by our benefits system so they can demonstrate on the streets about ‘Islam Will Rule the World” and “Sharia Law in Britain”. At the same time, there are tens of thousands of our own people who are literally struggling to survive. The amount of money spent on immigrants is one of the greatest scandals of our time.

The Prime Minister On The Andrew Marr Show

The Prime Minister On The Andrew Marr Show

If I have any criticism of what the government is doing, it is that the system devised is far too complicated and will itself cost money. This business of paying more tax if you are ‘over the limit’ etc. is in my view the wrong approach. It appears to me that the simplest method would be to just reduce or stop the payments where applicable. That way we don’t need another tax department or the general public having to fill out yet more forms. Mind you, I may be over simplifying the problem, I am after all, not an expert in the field.

All that aside, I stand firmly behind David Cameron and Nick Clegg in their drive to cut expenditure on the benefits budget, but I sincerely hope this is only the beginning.
